May 27, 2014My definition/expectation of a 'notification' is a graphic/text message with the option to enable/disable a sound to alert me that the notification came in per app.
I want to:
1- enable/disable graphic/text per app
2- enable/disable sound per app
For #1, it looks like I have to go Setting>App Manager>All>Uncheck 'show notifications'. But, apparently that will disable everything...ie, no graphic/text or sound. I've tried lock screen and notification apps without luck so far......

Jun 10, 2010So, I've searched for an answer but am not getting any where.. Here is my dilemma. When someone sends an email to my yahoo account, the phone vibrates and the led flashes. Perfect. But when someone sends an email to my Gmail account, I get the Notification sound, the vibration and the led flash. Not good, especially at 1 am when I am sleeping. I can not figure out why gmail is activating the notification sound and yahoo mail is not. (Probably something simple, and I am missing it...) I would greatly appreciate if someone can explain to me how to kill just the gmail notification sounds, without effecting any other notifications. Also, I have noticed that when I get a new message notification, I can open the widget on the main screen to read the email, and it shows read, but the task bar notification is still there, and when I drag it down, it shows the message is still unread. Any ideas.

Feb 18, 2010I got my HTC Hero a couple of days ago and I can't help but getting a bit annoyed by the fact that whenever I receive a message my phone gives off the double vibrate buzz, followed by most often just a second of silence before the message sound 'pling' goes off. The pause between the vibration buzz seems a bit random and I have experienced it pausing for up to like 10 seconds before a sound plays. I cannot see that this is supposed to happen.What's wrong?My phone has build version 2.73.405.6 (which confuses me a bit since HTC webpages says that the newest build version is 2.73.405.5).

Jul 27, 2010On my old phone (LG Dare) the phone would beep every x number of minutes if you did not read a new text message. Is there a way to set it up on the DX so that if i don't read a new text after the initial ring, it will beep or play the rington like every minute. this is the only feature i miss, bc sumtimes i walk away from my phone and miss the text coming in and i wont know its there unless i check my phone. I would like to have it beep or something every minute as a reminder that you have a text waiting.

Jul 15, 2010Unless I'm mistaken, it seems the X only ringtones or vibrates one time when an SMS, MMS or GMail is received. There does not seem to be a method to allow periodic ringtones, vibrations or LED blinks -- to indicate a message was received. So the only way to see if you have a message seems to be to wake the phone up. If true -- this would be a real bummer.

Dec 15, 2011I have an Epic 4g galaxy S, the text notification just stopped. I didn't make any changes to the phone it just stopped on it's own. It still vibrates but no sound. Mar 3, 2012There is some app( presumebly ) that is sounding my default notification sound at ( seemingly ) random intervals, however no app shows up in the notification center. How to track down what app, or what notification is doing this.
What could sound off without actually showing you the notification ... I mostly only have notifications on for Gmail, Voicemail, GoSms. I have several other apps installed ( Foursquare, Facebook, and maybe a couple others ) that are capable of notifications, but their all turned off ... and even if they were sounding, wouldn't you think I would see something in the notification center dropdown?

Apr 8, 2012I have a rooted Sanyo Zio running Android 2.2, kernel 2.6.32.9-perf, on Ting's service (a recently opened Sprint affiliate). Every so often, particularly when in poor reception, I receive notifications along the lines of:
[triangular caution sign]
Error Code 2048:
Network Busy.
Please try again.
Error Code 3000: Server Busy is also common.
These don't bother me much, as Ting just came out of beta and is working on ironing problems out. However, these error codes are accompanied by an annoying chirp tone, which I want to disable. I've dug through the /system/media/audio folders looking for it, and can't find it. Where this particular notification sound is, so I can kill it?
General :: Notification And Alarm Sound Has Stopped Working
Oct 4, 2012My notification and alarm sound has stopped working however when I go to play music off my phone it still works.
I have gone into the Volume section under Sound and tried to mess with the volume levels. When I turn the alarm level up to the highest it can go, instead of playing my alarm sound it plays a very faint beeping noise. When I turn up my notification level it makes a similar beeping noise.
