I have several apps that tell me a manual update is available. I downloaded the update, but can't seem to figure out how to install the update. Can anyone give me a walk through?

I went into the notification bar to see I had two updates for apps that I have. However only a second or two after the notification window was up it suddenly disappeared and kicked me back to my home screen. When I returned to the notification window the app update notifications were no longer there. Is there a way that I can make my Droid go check for updates again?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI of course have froyo in my X. However since froyo updated I have been hoping that my apps would update, they are not. I have checkmarked the allow auto update box, even updated some of them manually once afterwords. I have taken the market off my task killer list. I only check it about twice a day, and everytime I have an update (not a manual update but a yellow font update)..nothing happens, I can let it sit on the market downloads screen or sleep my phone or do whatever and it just does not update my apps..does anyone have any ideas as too why this is? Perhaps something is off or being killed by my task killer? I have the two arrows on in the power management android widget (found this out by my gmail not snycing and receiving automatically). Any help is appreciated as I am at a loss as too why this isn't working..my friends droid updates her apps about twice a day.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using the AT&T SGH -1337 Samsung Galaxy S4. Android version 4.2.2. Unlocked to work with T-Mobile, USA. I am unable to uupdate the phone to any other build because it checks AT&T servers for updates. Since I am on Tmobile, it will never find updates. II've tried to use Kies. But it says my phone isn't supported or that the baseband isn't supported. correct direction on any way to manually update this device.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone having trouble with widgets stop updating? Like my clock/calendar/weather/news/pretty much any widget i have stops updating after an hour. So i look at my clock widget two hours later and it is an hour behind. Happens to ALL my widgets.Even the quick turn on/off wifi,bt,gps and such. They just stop updating/showing animation.I have ADW launcher installed. I am wondering if it is that. I do not really want to remove it as i hate the stock 3 button interface at the bottom (why do i need a contacts and phone, just use the phone to look thru contacts, wasted space IMO) and am quite keen on keeping the 5 button.Any ideas? If i power off the phone and turn it back on it's fine again for about an hour. SOmetimes randomly thru the day it will start updating and working fine again then randomly stop again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is a guide on manually deodexing, you phone. The reason I am making this tutorial is because I could not get my theme to work with Teenfaces deodexed android. You may want to follows this if you have the same probalem as me, or if you just want to take a shot at doing it.
What you'll need:
A Windows based machine
xUltimate v2.2
Patience
Process:
Unzip xUltimate v2.2, and launch "Main.exe"
If everything goes well you xUlt should recognize the phone and make a connection. You now should see a list of options.
Run option 1. After option 1 is done, run option 2.
Now these well take a while. Run option 3.
IMPORTANT: After you have run option 3, you MUST navigate to the xUltimate folder and find "origi_frame" folder, and delete "guava.odex". It's a bad file, and interferes with deodexing process.
Now run option 4, and wait.
Exit xUltimate, and put the phone in USB mass storage.
Go back into the xUltimate folder and copy "done_frame", and "done_app", and move them to the root of the sdcard.
Open a command prompt, and do the following:

I have not been able to find the answer to this searching the web so i thought i'd come here. Just got a new droid in the mail and i'm trying to manually punch in my contacts. It says they are saving but I am unable to locate the entry when i go to contacts. Would the contact be saved to a separate account?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Simply Stunning 3.2 rom and its running fine so far, however I have a bit of a problem with a shortcut that I made with bettercut. I made shortcut for contacts with bettercut but when I try to use it, it tells me the application is not installed. Now I have encountered this before and found that I could fix it by deleting the duplicate shortcut that bettercut makes on the built in home launcher (I use helix). My problem with this new rom is that it doesn't have the home launcher installed and only has helix and helix 2. Due to this, I have no way to open the android home launcher. My question is, there a place that shortcuts are saved even though the home launcher isn't installed? If so where is that directory so I can remove the dupe shortcuts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've read the constant threads where people say, just find the friend on facebook, hold press their icon and it will do whatever. doesnt work at all, the only thing happens is if i quick press i get the chooser to email them, or view their facebook profile. what im trying to do is manually sync a contact on my phone with a facebook contact. on my friends droid eris he can open up a phone contact, hit edit and actually has a field for him to type my facebook name in and it will sync. there anyway to do this? im tired of only having like 10 peoples profiles actually syncing with my phone contacts and another 100 not synced..
View 13 Replies View RelatedI semi-bricked my phone. I installed Rubix Rom through Rom Manager and it installed over top of FlyX. It starts up like normal (just doesn't go to the Koush Recovery screen on startup). When I unlock the phone, there is just the status bar and everything else is completely black. I can connect usb and change how it connects.Is there a way to get into the Koush Recovery manually at startup somehow? I just want to flash back my backup. I'm at work and I'm using OSX so I can't exactly do the SBF (unless someone knows a way without having to set up a virtual machine).
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I bought a rooted Droid from a friend. Everything works fine. The phone came with the rooted version of 2.2 on it. Now the problem.
When I go to download a ROM, it downloads, gives me the option to reboot in recovery (which would install the ROM usually), and when I select that option, it just reboots into the rooted 2.2 I'm currently running.
The first time this happened, I rebooted in recovery manually because the reboot got stuck at the bootloader screen. I then rebooted manually and loaded my previous 2.2 rooted ROM.
Now I can't reboot in recovery manually. Not too sure what to do at this point. I've owned a rooted Droid in the past and had not had any of these problems. I'd like to overclock and play with some other roms. Any help would be appreciated.
Is there a way to change the icons on the notification bar manually? so i can pick and choose which ones to install?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently got a Droid 2, and have been liking it, till today, when I had to manually enter a contact on the phone. I have the latest OTA upgrade.
I found two problems:
(1) Once the Name field goes beyond a certain length, Contacts just edits one entry. I did not attempt a bunch of edits to figure out where the field length trigger for this occurs. However it occurred with two different contacts I wanted to enter, "Capital Ear Nose & Throat Wake Forest" & "Capital Ear Nose & Throat Raleigh". I could start a new contact, but one would just overwrite the other when I clicked save (including the name).
(2) When you task switch with the home button to the browser with a new contact opened, with information in it, and you then switch back to the Contacts app, your new entry is gone!
I won't compare it to other phones, but I am looking a solution or a confirmation this problem has existed forever, and google doesn't plan to fix it.
Is there a way to manuallt do this?

I have 2 Comcast POP3 emails setup on my phone to sync every 30 minutes. Randomly, the phone will stop receiving e-mails--I can't manually sync and end up having to turn the phone off and on (not pulling the battery) to receive e-mails again. This happened with my old BB too. Does anyone know of a reason why my phone stops functioning properly?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently changed my ROM, and as soon as done, started having lots of problems installing apps:
* the play store on my computer would report applications not available for my device, even though I had downloaded and installed them before
* the search in the phone play store application could not find those apps, and when given a direct link would show them as incompatible
* modded version of vending.apk failed to download with the following error: "app name" could not be downloaded due to an error. (942)
* trying to install the backed up apk manually gave me the error "Application not installed"
* restoring titanium backup failed and left the restore process hanging
* manually copying the apk to /system/app/ and fixing the permissions still did not show the app
I tried many things, different roms, different ril, different mods of Vending.apk and GoogleServicesFramework.apk, clearing data and cache, deleting files in .android_secure, etc, nothing worked. Searching the forum brought up many posts about other people with the same problem, but no working solution.
Finally, I found the solution: I was using the wrong gapps package!The one I had flashed was for 2.3.2, my previous rom, whereas the new one was based on 2.3.7. It did not occur to me, that there could be enough changes to break market functionality, since I was sticking to gingerbread.
If you have the same problem, head to [URL] ..... and pay close attention to the table matching the right google apps package to your android version. Download it, and flash through recovery.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Droid appears to have an issue, and I'm hoping someone here can help. It is completely stock. I've searched this and other forums, but can't find anyone with a similar issue. My phone is not bricked, but I would really like to update to 2.2.
When Android 2.1 came out, I did a manual update and had no issues completing it.
When 2.2 came out, I tried the manual update like normal. Held the X key while powering up, and the Motorola logo came up. Then the phone shut down, and the logo came up again. As long as I hold down the X, this continues to happen.
Late last week, I got the notice on my phone that the update was ready to install. I tapped Install Now, and the phone shut down and restarted in a similar manner as described above.
Crap. So, I can't get into Recovery Mode. At all.
So, I decided to attempt a factory reset through the Settings Menu. Same thing happens. Moto logo comes up, the the phone shuts down. Then powers back up like nothing happened.
I took it to the VZW store. Was essentially told to wait a bit, and that they would do a warranty exchange if the phone became unusable.
I did the Motorola Support Chat, and was told that VZW should be getting a tool to help, but it seemed like the rep didn't really understand what I was describing.
