Motorola Droid X :: How To Manually Deodex Your Phone

Aug 25, 2010

This is a guide on manually deodexing, you phone. The reason I am making this tutorial is because I could not get my theme to work with Teenfaces deodexed android. You may want to follows this if you have the same probalem as me, or if you just want to take a shot at doing it.

What you'll need:
A Windows based machine
xUltimate v2.2
Patience

Process:
Unzip xUltimate v2.2, and launch "Main.exe"
If everything goes well you xUlt should recognize the phone and make a connection. You now should see a list of options.
Run option 1. After option 1 is done, run option 2.
Now these well take a while. Run option 3.
IMPORTANT: After you have run option 3, you MUST navigate to the xUltimate folder and find "origi_frame" folder, and delete "guava.odex". It's a bad file, and interferes with deodexing process.
Now run option 4, and wait.
Exit xUltimate, and put the phone in USB mass storage.
Go back into the xUltimate folder and copy "done_frame", and "done_app", and move them to the root of the sdcard.
Open a command prompt, and do the following:

Motorola Droid X :: Deodex - Update.zip Deodex

Sep 16, 2010

Has anyone tried this: [DEODEX] Update.zip deodex - Droid X Releases - AllDroid Public Board - [DEODEX] Update.zip deodex - Droid X Releases - AllDroid Public Board - AllDroid.org > Home

It's an update.zip that will deodex 2.2...I can't get it to run (just stalls out in ClockworkMod Recovery at "Installing Update"), but it appears that a few people have ran it successfully.

Motorola Droid 2 :: App - Manually Enter Contact On Phone?

Sep 3, 2010

I recently got a Droid 2, and have been liking it, till today, when I had to manually enter a contact on the phone. I have the latest OTA upgrade.

I found two problems:

(1) Once the Name field goes beyond a certain length, Contacts just edits one entry. I did not attempt a bunch of edits to figure out where the field length trigger for this occurs. However it occurred with two different contacts I wanted to enter, "Capital Ear Nose & Throat Wake Forest" & "Capital Ear Nose & Throat Raleigh". I could start a new contact, but one would just overwrite the other when I clicked save (including the name).

(2) When you task switch with the home button to the browser with a new contact opened, with information in it, and you then switch back to the Contacts app, your new entry is gone!

I won't compare it to other phones, but I am looking a solution or a confirmation this problem has existed forever, and google doesn't plan to fix it.

Motorola Droid X :: Deodex'd - Getting Errors

Sep 30, 2010

I am on the Froyo OTA and I rooted my phone (can't find the thread I used for that). I then started with titanium backup, got that bootstrapper and did a full backup and then tried to deodex my phone from this link (xUltimate). I kept getting errors on one of the steps and ran their little utility called Test.exe and it said my phone was already deodexed. So I thought maybe that happened when I rooted the phone. I then went to try install a theme that I liked, but I got an error so I had to recover. So I tried another one that was supposed to just make the top bar dark, had to recover. I then installed this one and it worked thought the text on the bar is not white and in the thread someone else had the same issue and was told that their phone is not deodex'd. So I guess my basic question is how can I tell if I am or not?

Motorola Droid X :: ROM's - Deodex And Themes

Oct 10, 2010

I have about 300 hours of reading in and I am still sitting with a Droid X, 2.2 OTA and no root. I know how to root with rootmyx2 1-click method, not an issue. Was rooted before 2.2 and didn't want any leaked versions.

I have every tool that I would ever need. Root Explorer, Titanium BU, ROM Manager and Droid X Recovery Bootstrap.

But I can't get a straight answer for what ROM's I can install with the 2.2 OTA and which ones deodex for me. I know the 928DroidBlackGlassX-DroidX-OTA2315-DeOdexEERR-THEME will deodex for you but from what I read you have to have a ROM first. So confused.

I read FlyX has been put on the 2.2 w/out deodex and others say you need it first.

I'm just looking for the easiest step-by-step instructions to get set up for themes on a DX 2.2 Official 2.2 OTA.

Motorola Droid X :: Manual Deodex

Sep 28, 2010

I've successfully done most of the steps to manually deodex. However, when I get to the last step, it says Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7600] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:UsersSteven>adb shell
'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

This is what the last step says to do: (and I get stopped with the above message)

Open a command prompt, and do the following:
Code:
adb shell
su
stop
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
cp /sdcard/done_app/* /system/app/
cp /sdcard/done_frame/* /system/framework/
rm /system/app/*.odex
rm /system/framework/*.odex
mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
reboot

Motorola Droid : Phone Stop Receiving E-mails - Can't Manually Sync

Jul 5, 2010

I have a Moto Droid and just recently it stopped receiving e-mails (I assume phone calls and texts, as well though I never tested). I have 2 Comcast POP3 emails setup on my phone to sync every 30 minutes. Randomly, the phone will stop receiving e-mails--I can't manually sync and end up having to turn the phone off and on (not pulling the battery) to receive e-mails again. This happened with my old BB too. Does anyone know of a reason why my phone stops functioning properly?

Motorola Droid X :: ClockworkMod Will NOT Work On Rooted 2.2 - Nor Will SU In Cmd - Can't Deodex

Aug 28, 2010

Just got my Droid X on Wednesday. So I initially tried rooting the manual way (How to get 2.2, Rooted, on your Droid X - Droid X Rooting - AllDroid Public Board - How to get 2.2, Rooted, on your Droid X - Droid X Rooting - AllDroid Public Board - Forum), ran into some trouble. Later found that it may have been due to some Moto driver issues. Was finally able to get the correct Moto drivers in by turning off debugging, plugging in as USB Mass Storage, and then it updated MotoConnect to a version that's apparently not available online.

Anyway, I rooted using the one-click root (DroidXRoot), was able to download wireless tethering which never actually worked. The program runs but it says "Unable to start tether". Don't know if this is related. So I'm trying to get clockwork mod, and I'm trying to deodex. I attempted to Deodex using xUltimate v2.2 and this link ([HOW-TO] Manually deodex your phone.), all ended up working, but when I got to the part where I have to enter the cmd lines, I failed. I run adb shell and it brings up a $ and then i type su and it says Permission Denied. Can't figure it out.

I've also tried installing clockwork through ROMManager, I hit Flash ClockworkMod Recovery, hit Droid X, and it says successfully downloaded ClockworkMod recovery. If i lick reboot into recovery it asks if i'm sure, I say yes, and nothing happens. I've also downloaded the file and placed it on tnhe root of my SD Card but I can't figure out any way to actually install it.

I thought I'd go back and start from scratch 2.1 now that all my drivers are in-line, but of course G** D*** Motorola brought down all the sbfs with their C&D. I've manually installed the Android SDK, I honestly don't even know WHAT I've done now, the files on my desktop that I've used consist of usbdeview, xultimate, DroidXRoot_v2, USB_Drivers, recovery-clockwork, update.zip, MotorolaConsumerDriver MotoConnect Installer, I've edited the PATH under my computer settings, I'm completely lost now. I just want to be able to run some themes! My initial goal was to deodex, and then it turned into this massive pile of ****.

I was thinking if I can get deodexed and clockwork mod recvoery working I probably will have solved any other problems in the process, and figure wireless tethering would prbably be included in that. Anyone have any idea AT ALL where I should go from here?

Motorola Droid X :: Deodex - Device Or Resource Busy

Aug 29, 2010

Droid X - 2.2 - Rooted

Attempting to deodex, followed the instructions exactly on this thread ([HOW-TO] Manually deodex your phone.) but on my last step when entering "mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system" I get the following response from cmd prompt, "mount: Device or resource busy"

The OP said I should try placing the phone in Windows Sync mode or whatever it's called, as opposed to USB Mass Storage, just tried that and again, same message.

If no ideas how to fix this, does anyone at least know what to do so that when I reboot I won't have to do a Nandroid restore? It's getting really annoying going on the 3rd or 4th time.

Motorola Droid : How To Manually Delete A Shortcut?

May 27, 2010

I recently installed Simply Stunning 3.2 rom and its running fine so far, however I have a bit of a problem with a shortcut that I made with bettercut. I made shortcut for contacts with bettercut but when I try to use it, it tells me the application is not installed. Now I have encountered this before and found that I could fix it by deleting the duplicate shortcut that bettercut makes on the built in home launcher (I use helix). My problem with this new rom is that it doesn't have the home launcher installed and only has helix and helix 2. Due to this, I have no way to open the android home launcher. My question is, there a place that shortcuts are saved even though the home launcher isn't installed? If so where is that directory so I can remove the dupe shortcuts?

Motorola Droid :: Download ROM - Can't Reboot In Recovery Manually

Aug 16, 2010

So I bought a rooted Droid from a friend. Everything works fine. The phone came with the rooted version of 2.2 on it. Now the problem.

When I go to download a ROM, it downloads, gives me the option to reboot in recovery (which would install the ROM usually), and when I select that option, it just reboots into the rooted 2.2 I'm currently running.

The first time this happened, I rebooted in recovery manually because the reboot got stuck at the bootloader screen. I then rebooted manually and loaded my previous 2.2 rooted ROM.

Now I can't reboot in recovery manually. Not too sure what to do at this point. I've owned a rooted Droid in the past and had not had any of these problems. I'd like to overclock and play with some other roms. Any help would be appreciated.
