1> I know I'm old and senile, but I swear that before the update I did not have this "My Location" thing glowing a big blue ring around me on the map (and, nope... no male enhancement products in use either). I wouldn't mind so much if it was actually at my location, but it seems to be the location of the nearest tower or something. I see in the menu a button that says My Location (and I think that has been there for awhile), but pressing it does not make the blue ring go away. And it's not in Layers (or More Layers). How do I turn that off? I see how it can be helpful (in the menu you can see some businesses nearby), but I'd rather have the option.
2> According to all of the generic Maps Update on countless blogs, we now have access to "Starred Items". Okay - I give.... what the heck are those? I've gone through my maps on google on a PC and I don't see anything. I've gone to Starred Items on my phone and it tells me that I don't have any - duh. I have a number of contacts listed in Favorites, but that doesn't appear to be what Starred Items is.

Jul 27, 2010I'm running bb 0.4, chevy 1.2LV, black glass theme on my droid. Is anybody else having a problem installing the google maps update? I tried yesterday and got an error that I think said something about a problem w/ the service pack.I tried probably 5x last night to install it from the market but didn't have any luck. Today I tried twice and again I get an installation error, however it doesn't say what the error is specifically.It takes about 4 minutes to download then when it gets to installation it says "installation unsuccessful"

Aug 21, 2010I used to really love the Latitude interface, when I clicked on a friend in Latitude, I got a screen with many options, including Navigate to, send text, etc.
One really cool feature on this screen was "what's nearby" which showed stores etc. that were near my friend.
Also, the background was black and the text was white.
NOW (after the last update): I lost the "what's nearby" feature AND the background is white and the text is black.
What can I do? Is there a way to revert maps to the older release?
HTC EVO 4G :: AppBrain Says Update Available For Flash 10.1
Aug 20, 2010AppBrain is saying there is an update available for Adobe Flash 10.1 but there's no way of updating it. It keeps saying "requested item could not be found" because it's not on the market. Is there really an update for EVO 4G or is this an AppBrain bug?
Our version is 10.1.72.7 but according to this:

Sep 3, 2010Any way to get rid of it without removing flash? If I tell it to update it says "The requested item could not be found." and goes back to the appbrain screen. Not a major issue but its getting annoying seeing it in there any time I go into AppBrain to force-sync my phone to appbrain.

Oct 21, 2010I was having apps hang on download from the appbrain market app. This was during an appbrain update. So I uninstalled appbrain. The downloads pending went through, but the appbrain update is now hanging in the downloads from the Android Marketplace. It just says "downloading." I can't kill the process. I have rebooted the phone, manually killed the process. I get this message: "Sorry! The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Then "Force Close." I want appbrain back, I love the service, but I don't know what to do.

Nov 22, 2010I recently read that AppBrain updated their app to v5.0 but that the Fast Web Installer that pushing apps to your phone from Appbrain.com WITHOUT having to go through the Market is broken with the v5.0 update because of changes with the Market's recent update.

QUESTION: does the Fast Web Install still work with earlier versions of AppBrain?? I have kept v4.8 installed on my phone but I'm having a problem with the Fast Web Install. Appbrain is AWESOME. If you noticed, I know you did, that FastWebInstaller comes up w/ a note via the phone that it is not-operational b/c google updated the market w/o FWI able to preform.
That makes me believe that perhaps google is setting up this whole online experience. It seems like AppBrain is "hooked" up w/ Google (cause you use ur google sign in).
Obviously I dont have the skinny on inside info. I KNOW some of yous do.

Motorola Droid :: How To Uninstall Maps
Mar 19, 2010Ok so I've got smoked glass 6.0.1 running great on my phone but I'm one of the many that are having problem with google maps. I opted to uninstall after installing the rom but I don't know how to do it. I've searched everywhere and they all say just go to manage apps and uninstall from there. I don't have the option to do it from there!...I then saw that you can try filtering and choosing one of the com.google......things that are listed but I don't have the one for maps. Lastly, I saw somewhere using adb shell does the job but I have NO IDEA how to do that.

Jun 30, 2010I'm using BB V0.4 and maps.apk is in the system/apps folder. Ive tried removing it from there and installing through the market and it wont install. Ive tried removing and putting another Maps.apk back in the system/apps folder and it still wont work. Ive changed the permissions to make sure its like the other apps in the apps folder. It doesn't even show up anywhere on my system. I also have Fabs X theme running on top, but he doesn't theme the Maps.apk. I don't get it, whats the problem?

Dec 21, 2009Maps is very powerful and I think it's one of the best features of the Droid, but I still feel like I don't understand a lot about it.
Sometimes I'll look up directions for a place I want to go later. How do I save that location? I know I can look it up with a PC and save it in "my Maps", then possibly access that layer on my Droid. But I just want a place to save destinations that I might want to go to later.
This is one example of many things that should be easy to do, but I don't understand how to.
