Is anyone else having this problem? when I am trying to navigate it just reads "searching for GPS" and never changes. I live in a very open area and this has never been an issue.

My maps and nav were working fine last night, but today for somereason it gets stuck on "getting directions" and wont load upthe maps... I've tried uninstallng but no luck.. I'm running BB v0.2.1...
View 19 Replies View RelatedAfter working well for the first month or so, it looks like GPS is not working very well for me. I'm not sure what changed. I now, when using the locate feature in Google Maps, often find myself in the middle of the Pacific off the Social shore. I usually try to remain on land when possible, though. Or it my randomly 'telephonist' me a few hundred yards off in some direction, then I'm back withing seconds. But a lot of the time it's not able to really locate me well at all. I think the network locating is doing 'k', but GPS is failing pretty bad lately. The icon shows GPS working, and I try disabling and re-enabling it. But that doesn't help. Anyone else having issues with GPS accuracy? Any apps that can help 'fine-tune' the GPS?

I took a jump by rooting my eris, and now I have a problem and don't know how to fix it! which is frustrating, but it is exactly the reason why I rooted in the first place! To have a reason to learn this stuff! So here I am reaching for help. The problem with my phone is that when I open google maps and type two or three characters on it it force closes on me. 50% of the reason to get this phone was for google maps. It could replace a gps with longer battery life than 4 hours which means I can leave the house and ride all day without having to plug it in. Any way I have tried turning off the phone, turning it back on, and clearing the settings on the application then turning it off again. still I get a force close message. It is using 2.1, but I am not sure which version it is using. would updating to a newer rom like 2.1 v3 help? if so how would I go about it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone hasn't been able to locate a GPS signal when using Google Navigation/Maps for about the past five days. I only really noticed this problem last Thursday... which seems about the same time I received the latest update. The timing would indicate the two are related?
The GPS is turned on, and the satellite icon displays on the toolbar. The phone displays "Searching for GPS" at the bottom. I'm running Locale, and it continues to recognize conditions based on location data... so it would seem the GPS is still working for that, at least.
People are saying that you can download Google Maps, but it does NOT work and crashes on launch. What is going on with this phone?

2 Questions:
1> I know I'm old and senile, but I swear that before the update I did not have this "My Location" thing glowing a big blue ring around me on the map (and, nope... no male enhancement products in use either). I wouldn't mind so much if it was actually at my location, but it seems to be the location of the nearest tower or something. I see in the menu a button that says My Location (and I think that has been there for awhile), but pressing it does not make the blue ring go away. And it's not in Layers (or More Layers). How do I turn that off? I see how it can be helpful (in the menu you can see some businesses nearby), but I'd rather have the option.
2> According to all of the generic Maps Update on countless blogs, we now have access to "Starred Items". Okay - I give.... what the heck are those? I've gone through my maps on google on a PC and I don't see anything. I've gone to Starred Items on my phone and it tells me that I don't have any - duh. I have a number of contacts listed in Favorites, but that doesn't appear to be what Starred Items is.
I'm on Froyo FRF57. Every time I start Maps, I get the "What's new in maps" screen. When starting navigation, it doesn't remember my recent addresses. I have tried clearing the application data, and have also uninstalled and reinstalled maps, but the problem persists.

I have noticed everyone here in the states have voice turning gps. I have the motorola android phone but I do not have the navigation? why is this? how may i acquire this software? i am willing to pay what ever cost.
Ok so I've got smoked glass 6.0.1 running great on my phone but I'm one of the many that are having problem with google maps. I opted to uninstall after installing the rom but I don't know how to do it. I've searched everywhere and they all say just go to manage apps and uninstall from there. I don't have the option to do it from there!...I then saw that you can try filtering and choosing one of the com.google......things that are listed but I don't have the one for maps. Lastly, I saw somewhere using adb shell does the job but I have NO IDEA how to do that.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using BB V0.4 and maps.apk is in the system/apps folder. Ive tried removing it from there and installing through the market and it wont install. Ive tried removing and putting another Maps.apk back in the system/apps folder and it still wont work. Ive changed the permissions to make sure its like the other apps in the apps folder. It doesn't even show up anywhere on my system. I also have Fabs X theme running on top, but he doesn't theme the Maps.apk. I don't get it, whats the problem?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMaps is very powerful and I think it's one of the best features of the Droid, but I still feel like I don't understand a lot about it.
Sometimes I'll look up directions for a place I want to go later. How do I save that location? I know I can look it up with a PC and save it in "my Maps", then possibly access that layer on my Droid. But I just want a place to save destinations that I might want to go to later.
This is one example of many things that should be easy to do, but I don't understand how to.
I live in Sweden and the application is on my phone, but does not work. That is odd because it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to do, especially if Google Maps already gives turn-by-turn directions. I'm guessing it might have to do with the language or pronunciation of the streets. I don't mind using it in English, though.

Satellite view of the route was amazing.Since then I've rooted with SMUpdater and installed the newest Google Maps, as well as SetCPU, running at 800,000.I used the GPS yesterday and though it worked great, it was a bit laggy, took a while to fill in with satellite view from time to time, especially if I tried to zoom in at any point.Is the rendering of the map reliant more upon the speed of the processor or upon the speed of the internet -- and could any of the updates or mods affected this/

View 21 Replies View RelatedIn system settings, I have Use GPS satellites unchecked but Enable assisted gps checked.Now on my old blackberry, if I didn't have gps turned on, it would still find my approximate location to about a mile using cellular networks. On google maps on the Droid X, google maps doesn't find me at all and simply gives this error"Please enable a my location source in system settings".I don't want to enable full GPS for simple things like finding a local restaurant as approximate location would be fine with this
