View 49 RepliesI went to the Market today and noticed Google Maps was automatically updating (I'm using Froyo 2.2 on the Moto Droid). After it downloaded, it said Installing... then it said "Installation of Google Maps unsuccessful". When I go to the app in the market itself, it says "A manual update is required." However, when browsing the "Downloads" section, there is no "Update available" next to Google Maps. all it says is "free" as if its not even installing when it is indeed installed. Anyone know how to fix this issue?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI received the alert to update Google Maps to 4.2, but everytime I try to install the update, I keep getting Update Unsuccessful (tried 5 times with resetting after each installation attempt). What could be the problem? Do I need to remove 4.1.1 first? I don't undertstand why I would as all other updates automatically replace the old/existing file. I emailed the developer, but no response has been received. Suggestions/fixes are welcome. And I'm still suffering from disappearing text conversations with stock messenging. I tried to download Handcent, and it wouldn't work. Oh well.

I have cleared the data on the market app ,but after uninstalling certain apps that were giving me problems angry bird ,evac , and some other I can't do a fresh install and the unsuccessful installation problem still persist. I tried to install the angry bird apk but that doesn't work and since I have uninstall it won't let me install the app at all

Apparently to fix some issues users were experiencing with layers.
Ultrabrief: Google Maps hits 3.3.1 to fix a problem with Layers [Symbian, Windows Mobile]
2 Questions:
1> I know I'm old and senile, but I swear that before the update I did not have this "My Location" thing glowing a big blue ring around me on the map (and, nope... no male enhancement products in use either). I wouldn't mind so much if it was actually at my location, but it seems to be the location of the nearest tower or something. I see in the menu a button that says My Location (and I think that has been there for awhile), but pressing it does not make the blue ring go away. And it's not in Layers (or More Layers). How do I turn that off? I see how it can be helpful (in the menu you can see some businesses nearby), but I'd rather have the option.
2> According to all of the generic Maps Update on countless blogs, we now have access to "Starred Items". Okay - I give.... what the heck are those? I've gone through my maps on google on a PC and I don't see anything. I've gone to Starred Items on my phone and it tells me that I don't have any - duh. I have a number of contacts listed in Favorites, but that doesn't appear to be what Starred Items is.
Is anyone else seeing in appbrain that Google Maps has an update but there really isn't one?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running bb 0.4, chevy 1.2LV, black glass theme on my droid. Is anybody else having a problem installing the google maps update? I tried yesterday and got an error that I think said something about a problem w/ the service pack.I tried probably 5x last night to install it from the market but didn't have any luck. Today I tried twice and again I get an installation error, however it doesn't say what the error is specifically. It takes about 4 minutes to download then when it gets to installation it says "installation unsuccessful"

View 4 Replies View RelatedI used to really love the Latitude interface, when I clicked on a friend in Latitude, I got a screen with many options, including Navigate to, send text, etc.
One really cool feature on this screen was "what's nearby" which showed stores etc. that were near my friend.
Also, the background was black and the text was white.
NOW (after the last update): I lost the "what's nearby" feature AND the background is white and the text is black.
What can I do? Is there a way to revert maps to the older release?
Im running BB .4 and I have been trouble downloading the one app that I actually have paid for. Decided to buy it last night and it froze on download so I cancled it and restarted it. It went from authorizing to downloading to Download unsuccessful.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem trying to update certain apps after rooting my phone.
I'm getting a download unsuccessful message.
I posted this thread in the rooting forum.
http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid-x/134649-updating-apps-after-root.html
I'm posting here so that I can rule out a possible market issue.
Since rooting, 3 of my apps have had updates.
Super Slot - download unsuccessful
BatteryTime Lite - download unsuccessful
Paper Toss - worked fine
Can someone try to update/download super slot or batterytime lite and see if you can do it successfully?
I doubt it's a market issue, but I wanted to rule that out.
I also installed ad free android earlier. I have since uninstalled it, but is it possible it left the host file on the system and that's blocking the download? Do all apps get downloaded from google or do they actually get downloaded from the developer's site through the market? I'd be surprised if it's the 2nd one, so that's probably not the issue either.
I have had launcher pro for a while. I recently tried to update it and it will download but the install fails everytime. I have tried uninstalling and doing it again and nothing works..I'm on UD 8
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've rooted my HTC Desire with Unprovoked, running Clockworkmod Recovery ROM and AuraxTSense on top.
I've noted that I cannot install the latest versions of Gmail and Google Maps from the Market.
After the whole download gets over, it gives me a message "Installation unsuccessful"
Edit: I've tried downloading the .apk. But installation of even that fails.
Has it anything to do with my custom ROM or with rooting? Can anybody suggest a workaround?
I am running Virtuos 2.7 with adrynalyne kernal
I am being told that an update for gmail is available, but when I download it and try to install it, the install fails.
I know the new version of virtous has an updated gmail but would rather not backup, install, etc
Nexus 1, although seen many phones have this same issue also 32gig micro sd. Updates just dont happen like they should on automatic updates. The update progress bar just sits there and notice comes up "update unsuccessful" looked everywhere but this seemed to work fine.
1. Unmount SD
2. Go back to each download (market download)
3. Cancel download
4. Then it takes you to app. push install
5. Download restarts and installs fine
6. Then go back and remount SD under phone settings
7. Then go to phone settings, applications, manage apps,
8. Pick the apps you just installed and move them to the sd card if possible.
Why am I unable to update Google Search on my Droid 2?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOk the market seems to be working except it won't let me download anything. It keeps saying download was unsuccessful. Does any body else have this issue. It worked at first when I first upgraded to froyo.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm rooted running chevy's simply stunning 4.9. I've noticed some of my apps I have installed doesn't show as installed on the market. So I wasn't receiving updates for it. I click on the app and click install and it reinstalls onto my phone with no issues. However my youtube app doesn't fare as well. It downloads but install is always unsuccessful.
Second problem is with my speaker.
I've got the gba emulator and occasionally play some pokemon fire red. This phone I currently have is a refurb replacement. My first had a bad headphone jack. I was able to play on my first one with volume on full blast without it being all raspy, unfortunately my replacement one I currently have cannot do it past half volume.
I've been receiving MMS messages from friends and family back home and for some reason whenever i click on 'download' it says that the 'download is unsuccessful'... it happens with people that i know that have verizon and droids too.. i tried the native sms app, chompsms, and handcent but they all do the same thing.. is this a known problem? it sucks not being able to recieve picture messages from my friends, and i can't send outgoing ones either (they download unsuccessful)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just updated to 2.2 froyo yesterday and now when I try to download any app it starts and goes straight to saying download unsuccessful! Is this an issue with 2.2? What can I do to resolve this? It sucks a little extra because I just uninstalled my launcherpro plus because it was being glitchy with 2.2 and as I went to reinstall it like the dev told me to I found out I could no longer download apps. I can't even navigate the orginal home screen because of how use to launcherproI was.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust rooted and deodexed a friends droid x on 2.2. Everything works fine, but we can't download ANY files in the browser. It instantly says "download unsuccessful". No matter what it is or where its from. We've tried doing"fix permissions"in don manager, soft reboot, no results. View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to download mp3 files from my file server onto my Droid. Everytime I try to download a song I get the error message Download Unsuccessful. I thought it was a problem with my server but all of my computers can download from it, and I just went and got my mom's Droid ERIS to test. It could successfully download mp3 files from the server. This is ridiculous, why wouldn't my Droid be able to download these files but the ERIS can? Is this a case of Droid DOESN'T?
