Motorola Droid X :: How To Restart Your Phone After Hang?

Motorola Droid X :: Hang Up Icon Unresponsive - Hang Up Call Quickly
Jul 19, 2010This has happened to me several times in slightly different cases. Several times I've mistakenly placed calls to the wrong people (due to just messing around with the phone).
In a panic, I pressed the "back" button thinking that it will cancel the call. It didn't. I also tried the "home" button. Also no good.
I had to drag down the notifications bar to see the phone call in progress and finally access the red Hang Up button. That worked. The problem is that is is SLOW. And worse, one time the phone would not respond to the button press until after several tries (maybe the CPU was busy on something).
Anycase, that would appear to be a major problem with all these touchscreen-only smartphones - lack of a physical Hangup button.
Is there any workarounds to this? Perhaps some sequence or combo of the existing physical buttons to forcefully hangup an errant call?

Motorola Droid X :: Cannot Hang Up Phone Call When Outdoors
Aug 25, 2010When on a phone call outdoors and I want to hang up, I pull the phone away from my face and the display stays black. The proximity sensor is not sensing that I've moved it away from my face. I can't hang up the call. If I hold the phone above my head with the display facing toward the ground the display comes right back.
It works perfectly indoors. I've compared this to another phone and the other worked perfectly. I've read that the UV rays from the sun can interfere with the proximity sensor. Verizon does not recognize this as a problem but if you Google it you will see this problem goes way back.

I've tried refreshing each account, but it doesn't do anything until I turn off the phone and then turn it on again. Is there another way to restart the email services without restarting the phone? I have three email accounts (g mail, hot mail, and a work email), and they're either all working or all not working.

Oct 29, 2010I've never really used the video-recording until today. After maybe 3-5 seconds of recording, my phone will automatically restart. It's happened 3 out of 3 times, and one of those times it was stuck on the big M [battery pull fixed it]. I am rooted, but not running any ROMs or Themes. I am overclocked to 1.45ghz [if this makes a difference].

Nov 8, 2010These little bugs are starting to get annoying. This morning no sound on phone. Restart the unit and all is fine. If people had to restart and pull the battery as much on a BB Storm, they'd be complaining like crazy. Actually I rarely had to pull the battery on my Storm. Of course the Storm sat for a long time trying to load a website, but it did.
This thing is starting to bug me. It's official now. Open media and Camera Roll doesn't show it's icon half the time. Start it up and everything on SD card takes a while to show an icon. Go to Market and every other time nothing loads. This little stuff is adding up. Feel free to add your little bugs.
Android :: How To Restart Scheduled Jobs No Phone Restart
May 15, 2009I am developing a ToDo reminder type of app for android. on creation of a new reminder an alarm and vibrator scheduler is created with a toast. This works on intents and broadcasts and is pretty straight forward stuff with putextras using the reminder id from the db. My problem is, if some one restart the phone, i guess all the scheduled alarm and vibrator tasks for the reminder will be killed. Once the phone restart again how to recreate the scheduler tasks.

Nov 11, 2009Sometimes after I am done with a call the screen is black and I click on the screen to get it to light up so I can end the call with no results. I than push the little top button to turn on the phone by than the call has confused the voicemail I am leaving and I have to redo the message. I am leaving or push 1 or 2 go through all of that. Anyone else with the black screen and having to "unlock" the device issues? I want to never push that button on the top unless I lock it.

Jan 27, 2010I get a text, pull my phone out of the belt holster.....and read it in normal orientation. With the phone unlocked, I read the text(s) and decide to respond. About 75% of the time, it either takes 5-10 seconds to change orientation when I go to horizontal mode......or it won't even switch at all. It gets so frustrating I feel like throwing the phone.
Fwiw, a quick slide to expose the hardware keyboard will quickly change to horizontal orientation, but sliding it closed brings it back to default orientation, and doesn't seem to affect the speed of orienting back to horizontal.

Jun 18, 2010I did a factory reset on my Eris and went through the setup process. Phone rebooted after being programmed(*228).Got in and started playing around. Downloaded updates for Google Maps and Facebook. I shut my phone off,and now it just hangs at the boot screen. I have tried booting up in recovery mode. All I get is a picture of the eris with a red triangle. Is there anything else I can try before I take it back to Verizon?

Aug 7, 2010This issue is actually my friends droid, but he has 0 internet without his droid and now it's broken.His droid not rooted, not dropped, never wet, no damage, etc -- will only power on after being plugged into a wall outlet. After being plugged in, it automatically starts up, gets to the motorola icon and sometimes the eye, and then reboots.Two things to note:While booting, the led flashes red, indicating a bad battery. However, on occasion, it will reach the unlock screen for mere seconds stating that the battery is at 60%.I can access recovery and do everything there normally without a restart. The only solution I can think of is a factory hard reset.

Motorola Droid X :: Battery Meter Increases On Restart
Jul 19, 2010I got my Droid X on release day and I'm loving it, but I've noticed a bit of a weird issue. I don't charge my phone in the course of a day... letting the battery drain as much as possible before plugging it in... but several times now I've noticed that my battery meter actually increases when I restart the phone. Yesterday I drained it to 20%, restarted the phone, and it was at 70%. Tonight it got down to 40%, I restarted it, and now it's at 80%... and these aren't just fluke readings that go away after 5-10 minutes... the battery drains consistently from that percentage point.

Feb 13, 2010I rooted my Droid today for the first time.The first time it turned on after installing the new ROM it kept resetting after the MOTO icon would come up.It was doing this for quite a while and I kept removing the battery and powering off and on and then finally it started up.Phone was running great after that and was OCing at 800.Used it for about 5 hours like this.Then I went to set up OC profiles and hit refresh and now the phone keeps resetting at Moto icon again and hasn't turned back on.Is there something I can do to fix this?

Oct 29, 2010I have had two samsung fascinate for about 2 months now. Yesterday my wife complained that after calling someone she wanted to hangup without leaving a VM and the phone was just frozen. This is not the black screen. This is she could see all the buttons etc and the hangup button was just not doing anything.She said she powered off and on to fix it.Well, this morning the same issue happened to my phone as well !! I wanted to hangup after a call and the phone was just frozen. I could not hangup. I kept hitting the red hangup button and nothing happened. Not to mention the other person got a long and blank VM.

Not being one to give up yet...is there any undocumented way to hang up a phone call? Of course the real solution would be for Google to add a HANG_UP_CALL permission and expose the hangup() method to the public API, but it doesn't appear that will happen.
