HTC Droid Eris :: Unable To Answer Or Hang Up Phone After Call?
Sep 12, 2010Anyone have a problem with not being able to answer the phone or hang it up after a call? Verizon hasn't been able to fix it either.

Motorola Droid X :: Hang Up Icon Unresponsive - Hang Up Call Quickly
Jul 19, 2010This has happened to me several times in slightly different cases. Several times I've mistakenly placed calls to the wrong people (due to just messing around with the phone).
In a panic, I pressed the "back" button thinking that it will cancel the call. It didn't. I also tried the "home" button. Also no good.
I had to drag down the notifications bar to see the phone call in progress and finally access the red Hang Up button. That worked. The problem is that is is SLOW. And worse, one time the phone would not respond to the button press until after several tries (maybe the CPU was busy on something).
Anycase, that would appear to be a major problem with all these touchscreen-only smartphones - lack of a physical Hangup button.
Is there any workarounds to this? Perhaps some sequence or combo of the existing physical buttons to forcefully hangup an errant call?
HTC : Desire HD Freezing On Call / Unable To Hang Up
Oct 18, 2010Just bought myself the HTC desire HD 2 days ago and couldn't be happier except for one thing. Whenever I make or receive a call everything works but I can't hang up...the phone goes dead but the call is connected until the person calling/being called hangs up, and then I have to take out my battery to be able to use my phone for texting/apps etc, everything else works fine its just the screen refuses to light up again after I take it away from my ear.
If anyone knows what could be causing this or a fix it would be greatly appriciated.

Sep 22, 2010My girlfriend has an HTC Eris and here lately she's been having an issue answering phone calls. This doesn't happen every time but does happen a lot - she'll get a call and will press answer on the phones screen and she then hears nothing. The person that's calling her doesn't hear her picking up, in fact with the tests we've done with my phone and a friends phone is that on the callers end it just keeps ringing as if she never picked up.
She picks up she hears nothing, the caller on the other hand just hears the phone keep ringing. Any idea's what's causing this? She's not running any custom ROMs, in fact it's a stock phone up til about 2 days ago when I did root the phone - however she had this problem prior to that as well.
Motorola Droid X :: Cannot Hang Up Phone Call When Outdoors
Aug 25, 2010When on a phone call outdoors and I want to hang up, I pull the phone away from my face and the display stays black. The proximity sensor is not sensing that I've moved it away from my face. I can't hang up the call. If I hold the phone above my head with the display facing toward the ground the display comes right back.
It works perfectly indoors. I've compared this to another phone and the other worked perfectly. I've read that the UV rays from the sun can interfere with the proximity sensor. Verizon does not recognize this as a problem but if you Google it you will see this problem goes way back.

Jun 18, 2010I did a factory reset on my Eris and went through the setup process. Phone rebooted after being programmed(*228).Got in and started playing around. Downloaded updates for Google Maps and Facebook. I shut my phone off,and now it just hangs at the boot screen. I have tried booting up in recovery mode. All I get is a picture of the eris with a red triangle. Is there anything else I can try before I take it back to Verizon?

Feb 23, 2010I've spend the last couple days looking for a way to hang up a phone cal via the API. I'm guessing for some "security" reason that Google does not allow this. Not being one to give up yet...is there any undocumented way to hang up a phone call? Of course the real solution would be for Google to add a HANG_UP_CALL permission and expose the hangup() method to the public API, but it doesn't appear that will happen.

Nov 11, 2009Sometimes after I am done with a call the screen is black and I click on the screen to get it to light up so I can end the call with no results. I than push the little top button to turn on the phone by than the call has confused the voicemail I am leaving and I have to redo the message. I am leaving or push 1 or 2 go through all of that. Anyone else with the black screen and having to "unlock" the device issues? I want to never push that button on the top unless I lock it.

Jun 14, 2010I can't make calls using google voice. What happens is I will dial a number and press send, then something will pop up asking me if I want to make the call with GV or without GV. I choose WITH GV and it will start out okay, but after 5 seconds it goes back to the normal call screen and calls regularly with out GV. Is there anyone who can help me out with this? I have a droid eris.

The app would have an answer button that when pressed would perform the regular call answer action, but this isn't what I need help with. I've searched the internet and haven't been able to find any consensus on this issue. My app only needs to run during the call ringing stage and nothing more. What would I have to listen for to do this and what manifest entries would I need? Aug 17, 2010So the other day i got a call and i pulled the phone out of my pocket and tried to slide to answer and nothing happned. I tried to slide it to drop the call and nothing happened. I then mashed a bunch of buttons in frustration and think i rebooted my phone. It did it again to me today, though after about 10 seconds it finally allowed me to answer the phone. I have weatherbug going without GPS as that killed the battery, also have pocket empires going today.

Mar 3, 2009Is it possible to develop an Android app that would answer an incoming call and play a recorded message to the calling party without the phone ringing? For example, if a specific caller called during certain hours play a message asking them to call a different number during those hours.
In a similar vein, is it possible to intercept a call and if it is in a certain list of phone numbers divert it directly to voice mail without the phone ringing?

Feb 6, 2010On my previous phone it had a "full lock" feature on it that when a text message or phone call came in it would show all stars on the screen and require my password before you could answer the call or view the text message does the hero have that option or is there an app I can download?
I tried the pattern lock thing it has but if a call comes through or a text message comes through it still allows you to answer and/or view the message without entering the lock pattern..

Aug 3, 2010Before I upgraded when I clicked the button on my ear buds with a Mic it would hang up the call I was on. Now when I click it it mutes the call. So I have to take my phone out and manually hang the call up.

Jun 22, 2009I'm just doing an application that controls who to call and how many rings let the call do. For example, to not wake up someone in the morning we only do 3 tones. I'm using the standard BroadcastReceiver method to stop the call from going out. I explain here for the people who want to do it, also.

HTC Eris :: Physical Buttons - How To Disable Slide Unlock To Answer Phone?
Oct 9, 2010I am currently using xtrROM 4.2 and like many - am SICK of pocket answering my Eris. (I know this happens regardless of rooting). Is there a way of completely disabling the slide unlock to answer the phone? Using the Green to answer, Red to deny works perfectly well. I want it like an "olden-days" dumb phone. Is it at all possible to modify/flash the ROM to render the screen inactive for this? Most threads point to unlocker apps, but I'm trying to avoid them.

I guess this is useful when talking while driving and you know the phone will end the call when you set it aside instead of having to look on the screen. Apr 14, 2009When I'm testing the functionality of the headset button in a call, it just muted the mic, didn't hang up the call. And if there is no call, when I press the button, there will be a song playing, so I think the keycode is correctly reported. There maybe some code I need to add?
