Is there any way I can add a universal inbox shortcut to my homescreen? I just want to click on one icon, that will bring me into a unified inbox with all my messages. I already know I can use the "messages" icon, but if I use that I have to click on "universal inbox" again make it a two-step process each time.

New Droid X user here.New to Android as well.I see I have a universal inbox in the included Messenging app. This seems to show all of my IMAP e-mail accounts as well as Facebook, etc.However, Gmail seems to require its own app.Not sure I see the point of having a universal inbox if I can't include my Gmail account?Am I missing something?

-all missed calls
-voicemails
-facebook msgs
-texts
-email

I have a droid X running 2.1 update 1: I want a direct link to my universal inbox from my homescreen that drills directly into the inbox displaying all my messages. Currently, the best I can do is to use the "messaging" shortcut, which then goes and displays another shortcut to my "universal inbox" along with my individual mailboxes. I want to cut out the two-step approach, and get a direct shortcut.

Universal Androot is one of the newer 1-click methods to rooting a whole lineup of devices and one of them happens to be the Droid X. We had been holding out a little on posting this until there were methods available for creating backups using something like Clockwork Recovery and since Koush just released that option, it was time.
*Note 1* This needs to be done before updating to android 2.2. This method does not currently work on droid x froyo. Instructions *Warning*. Just a reminder that rooting VOIDS your warranty and could potentially do permanent damage to your device. This is not a recommended practice and you do so at your own risk.
1. Download and install Universal Androot to your Droid X: Download Link
2. Open it and tap the Root button.
3. Your phone will now run through a series of commands.
4. When it finishes, it will tell you that you are rooted.
5. Reboot your phone and BAM!Rooted Droid X.
I just root my DX with universal androot is so easy just one click but my ? Is how can I install ROM or used ROM Manager.

I hate that the volume control rocker changes both ringer volume and media volume. Is there a method to make a universal volume control? When I listen to podcasts using listen, I hate to have to wait for the podcast to start before I can adjust the media volume.....any suggestions?

I have the Motorola Droid (original) with the 2.2 update that just come out a couple months ago. I tried the Universal Androot and it said "failed" when I tried to root the phone with it. Then I heard about Easy Root in the market, but searched the market and its not there. Also wanting to do the nandroid backup so I can reinstall my current settings just in case and can not find anything to do that either.....

I know that there are two in there because they are there whenever I check Gmail on my computer.I looked for an option in the Gmail settings in case it only shows unread mail, but can't find anything.If I navigate to a different label, it will show all the emails in them, just not the Inbox.It started out OK, but I just noticed it a day or so ago doing this.My father was messing around with my phone the other day, and I'm wondering if he did something?

and my text message inbox just completely deleted everything on its own i have the text message maximum limit to 999 and i use the stock messaging app and my phone is not rooted its a bit annoying when all the messages get deleted. does this happen to anyone else?
I have checked this multiple times to make sure I am not doing something wrong, but it keeps happening. If i leave my gmail on the inbox screen and go to the home screen of the phone, when i return to the gmail app a while later after I have received a new email, it takes me directly to a prior email message--not the newest message or my inbox, but to some other older message. This keeps happening no matter what I do. I am using two different gmail accounts, and even if I leave the gmail app from my secondary account--it still snaps back to my primary account and some old email after my phone has slept for a while. Does anyone have any idea what is happening?

I've got an Exchange account set up, and my personal Gmail account. I don't use the Gmail app on the phone, preferring to use the "email" program. I love the combined inbox, but when I get a mail alert and use it to open the email program it opens in the specific inbox for that account in the email program. What's the status on Home Screen Replacement Apps? All I know about it Home++ but last I read it was pretty buggy and Force Closed quite a bit. I'm not looking for anything crazy I really just simply want more than 3 screens, 5-7 ideally...are there any apps out there that handle just this?
I have been using the email app that came on the droid x for 2 weeks with no problem until now. i only have my yahoo email acct on it. this am, my inbox is empty. nothing has changed on my actual yahoo acct, so the emails have not been deleted. how can i get the inbox to repopulate/sync with the emails that are in my yahoo inbox? the other folders of my email are fine.

When i go to delete emails in my gmail inbox on my phone they delete off the phone, but not in my actual gmail inbox online. Because when i delete the emails off my phone the inbox counter still reads all those emails that are still there. Well when i go online to delete them it goes back to normal. How can i fix this to where i dont have to keep goin online to delete emails?

Har har we all knew that wasn't happening that quick. I've got my 3 homescreens maxed, and I really would like to use a homescreen app to have more. View 15 Replies View RelatedI've done the searching and nothing has solved my problem and the last time this was brought as far as I can tell was back in December. My issue is that there is no consistent time when this happens. Sometimes it happens as I unlock the homescreen, as I'm exiting out of an application, as I rotate the screen, and even as I'm shifting between home screens. It also happens randomly based off of my last reset. Since it started (about a month ago) it has happened as long as 3 days after my last reset and sometimes as soon as 20 minutes after. I've tried installing the Home++ application but that did not solve the problem either. Does anyone know of a setting or way to bring the icons back without having to reset the phone? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSearched and couldn't find anything on this. Occasionally when i unlock the phone, all of my homescreen widgets are gone. Nothing but the wallpaper is visible. It usually happens when i am browsing on Dolphin and the screen times out. Then i hit the unlock button, swipe across to unlock, and when i hit home key, all apps are gone. Must reboot to get widgets back. Has anyone had this problem or know what to do to fix it?
