Not sure why but I have to manually connect to my home WiFi all of the time.Super annoying because I catch a terrible signal in the apartments I live and I leave my wifi on which drains my battery for basically nothing.

If I go into the messaging app, it works as it should (replies to the same number).

View 3 Replies View RelatedThat's basically the problem. My Visual Land Prestige 10 Android 4.0 10" Tablet i got from WalMart readily connects to all kinds of public wi-fi networks with no problems. BUT it will not connect to my home wi-fi network, which is from Cox Cable via a Linksys router.
I have several other devices, including a Palm Tablet, a Galaxy S3, and an Asus laptop, and all of these connect to my home wi-fi with no problem.
So why does my tablet not do so? It recognizes the existence of the wi-fi network, but never connects. It just says "saved", and that's it.
I'm having an odd issue w/Pete's BB 7.9...
I am able connect via WiFi to home network just fine - connects quickly and I get a proper IP.
However, nothing will connect - email, browser, marketplace, etc...
Everything works fine from my laptop on the same wireless network. Never had any issue w/any guest laptops at my home on the network. I don't have mac address filtering or any other settings like that...am using wpa.
Any ideas? Never seen this happen before...previously I've used my phone on wifi from home it worked, but that's been quite a while, can't remember when/which ROM.
Again - I connect fine to my wireless network, get an IP, but when I try to access anything from my phone it acts like I'm not connected. Go back to 3G and all is fine. Tried going back and forth between wifi and 3g, and it behaves the same way each time...appreciate any help.
Now it's working...weird. Didn't change any setting. I was trying another ROM (that wouldn't even boot for me - Chevy has a new 2.1 w/working auto-brightness, mute, keyboard lock) and after flashing back to 7.9 now wifi is working.
Sometimes (every 5th time or so) when I turn on my Electronics Voyager 510 BT headset my Droid will auto redial when it connects to the headset. I used to think I was accidentally holding down the redial button on the headset but I tested it this morning by putting both down on the table and it happened. anyone else, or is it just me?
View 14 Replies View RelatedWhen my router is set to WPA the Droidx connects and stays connected. But when I change to WPA2 it keeps connecting and disconnecting every few seconds. This leaves me with a choice of less security for my entire network, or no wifi for the Droidx. I have seen this problem mentioned on the Motorola support page, but I have not heard of any resolution. Does anyone have a fix for this? I am using the new Froyo 2.2 OTA update.

In fact, I've removed all beautiful widgets from all my home screens and home screen replacement apps. Yet for some reason I get the weather thing in my status bar as if I had Beautiful Home running. Which means it's somehow being run without being told to. And it only does this with Sweeter Home.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm afraid to bring this up as I suspect I might be headed for a replacement phone,For the last week or so, I've noticed my phone seems to be scrolling to the left automatically.The home screen will scroll as well as if I'm in the market for example and trying to enter a search term, the blinking cursor will move to the left. It's more of an annoyance than anything else.The phone still works great, but I'm worried that it might turn into something bigger.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis used to work seamlessly but since the 2.2 update.Whenever i arrive home from work i turn wifi on and all connects well. If i then leave the house and return the wi-fi fails to reconnect automatically. This has only happened since i carried out the update and noticed someone else on another thread has exactly the same problem on vodafone eforum. Is there a solution? Currently i need to turn wi-fi off and back on again and it works, not the end of the world but a pain since it used to work so well! I've tried y5 to try and force it, to no avail and carried out a reset (not full factory just remove battery etc).
View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I connect to my home WiFi, it works well. I'll go out of the house and come back a few hours later and the phone does not automatically connect to my home WiFi. If I go to settings, I can see it detects my home WiFi, but says "Connection unsuccessful, select to try again." When I select it, it connects and works fine. My problem is, I don't think I should have to physically select my WiFi network everytime I come home. Shouldn't it see it and connect automatically? What am I dong wrong? Do I have a setting turned on/off that should be different?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've looked all over this forum and others and haven't found anyone with this issue. Got my Droid Eris last week and love it so far. When I use Wi-Fi it finds my router and connects with no problems. I open browser and can go to Google.com, do searches from there, etc. and everything works fine and pages load quickly as long as I stay on Google.com. But when I try any other site they either never load ("web page not available") or they take several minutes to load.
Browser works fine on all sites when on 3G. I tried Wi-Fi with 3G turned-on and turned-off, but same results. Tried clearing browser cache, deleted cookies, etc.
I'm stumped...I can't think of anything that would prevent non-Google sites from working only when I'm using Wi-Fi.
I like switching between the stock home and Launcher Pro and ADW. Since the 2.2 update, when I use a home switcher to use one of the replacements, my phone defaults back to the stock home screen when I hit the hardware home button on the bottom of my Moto Droid. Is there a setting I am missing to change this. Even when I select the replacement as "default" using the Home Switcher, it still reverts back to the stock one when I hit that home button.

Long version: I'm fairly new to "devices". I got my first, a wifi-only Samsung tablet about 6 months ago and use it sporadically, mostly when traveling, but also it's become my semi-permanent music player at home. I got my first smart phone, a MotoX about 2 weeks ago. Love the MotoX and feel it's exceptionally well designed, easy to configure, and useful, but I have nothing to compare it to other than my wife's IPhone 5.
I have done a web search for this information. I have also searched and scanned around these forums, but didn't find anything I felt comfortable with in terms of how fussy or current the set up steps are or how current the app recommendations are. The two apps I've come across are, IIRC, called "Delayed Lock (trial or paid)" and "Unlock with WiFi".
My question is - today, mid-October 2013 - how do you recommend disabling screen lock while at certain locations. I imagine I'll be using it strictly at work or at home, both of which have wifi I connect to automatically. I might want to disable screen lock while driving, but so far have found my MotoX's Assist driving mode to work very well. I might get a Bluetooth device and at that point would probably want to disable the screen lock while that bluetooth device was connected.
I am able to access the WiFi server with my DI2, but I cannot get any service. This has been happening for several weeks. My wife has the same issue with her iPhone.
For example, on my Facebook App, when I try to load the app, I get an error that says Connection Lost. When I go to Play Store to download apps, it tells me there is no connection. You get the point.
Note that on occasion, I am able to load the internet and get Google, but when I do a search, back to the error messages.
It also happens at home when we connect to our wireless network. Sometimes it works, but lately it's been unable to load.
I'm developing an application that should add it's shortcut to home screen after installation and remove it after the application is being uninstalled. The application will be preinstalled on the end user device, but still should have an option for uninstall). The task looks very simple but I've faced lots of troubles implementing it. What I have done:
Add shortcut to the home screen using
com.android.launcher.action.INSTALL_SHORTCUT
on app first launch or on newt device
reboot.
MANUALY remove shortcut using
com.android.launcher.action.UNINSTALL_SHORTCUT................
there's a way to get the screen to automatically switch to home when the phone gets locked via time out or pressing the power button? Running ZenEXP/LP+/geekfor.me vanilla lockscreen.

but i was wondering if there was a way to just make the folders pop up automatically so you don't have to drag the notification menu every time and hit "mount".
After my Droid finds my home's wifi network I enter the password & everything is good. When I leave and come back home why won't the wifi kick in automatically?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that many of my applications seem to automatically close making the phone seem "slower" when I try to reopen recently opened applications. The main applications that I have noticed closing are Handcent and the home screen (extremely annoying when the home screen needs to reload randomly). I have Advanced Task Manager (put the items i dont want closed on exclude) and noticed that when i click refresh some of the items sometimes disappear. I've tried turning off Advanced Task Manager and still have the some issue...Here are some things to know about my droid:
Rooted, Running Bugless Beast v1.0 -
Running at up to 1ghz (tried lowering and didn't make a difference)
Using Helix Launcher 2 (tried switched to default home screen and also no difference)
I've had a problem with my apps not automatically restoring when I flash a custom ROM.I'm not using titanium but using Google's service as I log in with mg Google account.Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?The last ROM I tried to flash was Chevy's 4.7 and no apps came through from the market but all of my contacts synced.
