Nov 13, 2010I've read around that the Apple headphones with the microphone do not work with the X. But all the threads I've read that from are from a while ago. What I've learned is that apparently other headphones with mics will work but these will not pickup your voice through the mic, and the volume and click buttons will not work. My question to you is, did anybody get these headphones to work with the mic and buttons? How did you get it to work? It seems to me that it is a software issue because other headphones will work, so has anybody configured there phone in a way to make it happen?

Jul 5, 2010I have been using a LG Voyager (Christmas gift) and a 32gb Ipod touch for the last 2 years biding my time, loathing my 2 year contract and waiting for the release of the Iphone 4 but then the droid X was announced and have spent my time since obsessing over previews, reviews, specs, hands on Youtube videos, news articles and everything Android. And this is the conclusion I have come to.
I have been following Droid X news and reviews hardcore for the last 3 weeks as well as Apple/Iphone 4 news.
Apple is desperately trying to maintain the crown while the castle walls crumble around them. The Droid X truly is the first of I'm sure many Android contenders coming within the next 2 years. Unlike the Evo 4g it is on the Verizon network and packs more features and stability than any other phone with the exception of the Iphone that finishes first only by a spider hair.
In the past 2 weeks Apple has dispatched "rumor spys" to announce "IPHONE COMING TO VERIZON!!"
Yeah well we've been hearing that for a year now. But I am actually certain this time the rumors ARE true. But the point is the usually secretive "Apple" all the sudden has leaks just in time for the Droid X release.
Today I read that Apple has said that the antenna issue isn't the problem. They say it was a "flaw" with Iphone software displaying better reception (more bars) than there actually was and that when bridging the wifi and cell antennas touching the two at once users were displaying the "actual" coverage. Well this tells us two things.
1. Apple knew that AT&t had sub par coverage that wouldn't be able to handle data heavy phones and it would show.
2. Apple tried to cover the bad AT&T coverage by making the coverage look better than it is.
Why would they do that you ask? Well think about it. When the Iphone 1g was first released there weren't many "smart phones" that also included the multimedia hand held entertainment aspect. You had Blackberry that did a lot of innovative business things but lacked any real fun. Then along came the admittedly awesome, futuristic, and fun Iphone with tons of apps and features.
The phone was expensive for its time and no matter how much the phone could do it would be hard to do all the great things in less than a month especially on a completely new un matured product. So imagine you go buy this Iphone and you know you have 30 days to see whether you like it but the first thing you notice is all the places the phone doesn't get reception. The last thing Apple wanted was bad press at a time when the whole world was lauding their greatness. Another news story that broke today was that an app maker had figured out how to hack into the Itunes App Market and charge random Itunes users for his products thus launching 40 of his apps to top status. Apple just got around to fixing this problem even though it has been ongoing for some time. Well all the secrets are coming out now. And Apple is scrambling while the bad news keeps coming and they watch their stock plummet as fast as Ilemmings off a cliff and into the ocean. But none of this recent disaster is Apple's biggest problem. The problem is while all this bad Apple press is lingering Iphone competitors sporting an ever improving Android operating system are releasing innovative envelope pushing products every month while Apple and mac fanatics will be waiting at least 1 1/2 to 2 years respectively for Apples next Iphone hardware update that will again be adding new "original features" to compete with the technological competition that came since it's last game of catch up.

Jan 31, 2010So I bought and Apple handsfree set (stereo headphones and mic) for the Droid. I can't seem to hang up on a call by clicking the mic. I can accept calls by clicking on the mic, but clicking on the mic while in a call seems to just mute the phone.That's a useful feature, but does anyone know how to hang up on a call using the Apple handsfree set on the Droid?

I recently picked up and Apple IBook G3 and I was curious if I will have any problems rooting on the Apple OSX. The main reason I'm asking is because I have noticed that some roots require using the command prompt in Windows. I did search the forums for anything I could find but didn't really find anything useful.
The root I am planning on using is Soup or Root. This will be my first endeavor in to Rooting. PS- Mods if I posted this in the wrong place please move it to the correct one

This phone can play videos and is a standard Verizon branded phone. The video has already been converted to the standard .3gp format from my PC which uses Roxio 2010 Video converter. I have the following Apps installed to assist me:Astro File Manager (With both extensions installed and latest release)Handcent SMS (No Font Packs Installed).The video itself is almost 4 minutes long and the size of the video is only 9.40MB.

Jun 25, 2010Other than being briefly listed as a feature on the upcoming Droid X, no additional information has been provided regarding the "super slo mo" that the Droid X video camera is supposed to be capable of.Is this feature still a go? I went to the Motorola website and it isn't even mentioned. Could they have pulled it?I always thought that super slow motion video required quite a jump in frames per second (fps). As far as I know, the Droid X camera can only do 24 @ 720P. Maybe it will do super slow-mo only at the lower resolutions.If anyone has tested this feature, or has confirmed that it is or is not there, please let us know.

Dec 26, 2009looked for an answer on quite a few threads and forums on this one.on my moto droid, there are a couple mobile sites that will not stream video, but work on my old omnia, and my brothers htc hero. ie break mobile, the onion, and a few random other ones. sometimes it will play one video, then every other video from that server gives a "video not eligable for streaming on this device" or similar error message. it seems odd to me that some mobile vids will work on a hero but not the droid? or is it just my phone? anyone else fed up with this?

Jun 25, 2010BGR has a video comparison up. The Droid X has much better contrast both indoor and outdoor. The iphone has horrible bloom in highlights outdoors Which crushes all detail. I would even go as far to say that the iPhone video is really bad. Not surpisingly, he declares iPhone the winner because it is 30fps and not 24fps. Personally I couldn't see the difference between the two speeds.

Jul 19, 2010Question about video playback. Do you have to convert everything to .3GP ? I drop some movies onto the SD card and play them just fine. Then went back to play them it was REALLY choppy. Not exactly sure what is causing this. I would rather not covert everything to a different codec.

Sep 22, 2010I hope someone can help. All my co-workers that have the Incredible, Droid ! and EVO can stream off of iphonemoviez. I was never able to on my X and thought it was because it did not have Froyo. I just updated my software to 2.3 or what ever Verizon's version is and the first thing I did was check out the site and try to stream a movie. It still says "This video can not be streamed to this device" am I missing something? I would love for this to work. Everything else is great after 2.2/2.3.

I tried a few last night (Act 1, Meridian, mVideoPlayer, stock) and wasn't 100% sold on any of them. mVideoPlayer was probably the most impressive, but none of them saved where I was on exit.Basically, I have two wants from an app:
1) Saved where I left off
2) Turn off the button lights during playback
I'd prefer free, but wouldn't we all.As a side note, I played a movie I converted with Handbrake and it looked amazing. Had only one lip-sync loss and it was fixed by pausing and restarting.
Motorola Droid :: DVD Video Solutions
Jun 15, 2010After a bit of frustration, I finally found a couple different methods to encode a DVD for successful viewing on the Droid. My first successful attempt involved using CloneDVDmobile using Playstation 3 AVC/H264 settings for screen size 720x480. I was able to view the video (full screen/aspect) using Act 1, Meridian and Video Player. A preferred method uses DVD Catalyst for conversion with resultant screen size of 848x480, and video quality at 900kbps. Viewed successfully on all 3 previously mentioned video players. I recommend both CloneDVDmobile and DVD Catalyst. However, DVD Catalyst gives the user significant control regarding the quality of the finished product.
