When I receive an SMS from Google Voice, I always get a duplicate SMS notification (from a 406 no.) in my notification bar.Is there a way to disable this?It's not a huge hassle, just a minor inconvenience.

I use my google voice number alot for sms for people i dont want to give my number to (I.E. Craigslist) but when I get a text it gives me a notification for my text messaging app and also a notification for the google voice app. I'm wanting it to only send me a notification in the voice app. I'm sure there's a setting i'm looking over but if someone knows what this setting is please let me know.It drives me crazy to get 2 for the same message.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've factory reset my phone 3 times today for data problems and push email issues. Since the last time, I have a voicemail icon in my notification bar, clicking on it tells me to call my GV number to hear 3 messages. I cleared the messages in the GV app,but the notification wont go away. It has no Clear button to dismiss. I've rebooted the phone, tried calling the number, but have not yet tried throwing it against the wall. That's next. Any ideas to help calm my OCD by dismissing this notification are appreciated.Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk

After logging into her message box and clearing all voice messages, the status indicator never goes away. Any idea how to clear this out? It's been there for a few days now. I've tried powering down and removing the battery. We are on Verizon if that matters.

I use it mostly for texts, iphone doesn't support this app and the workarounds don't really notify you. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been using GV for a few weeks with no problem.I mainly use it for SMS, saving me and my GF $30 a month.Recently, GV will not auto notify us of new text messages.I have the Droid and she has the Eris, I know for a fact that GV voicemail notification is working on mine, not sure about hers. She likes things simple, and this started to get annoying. The only way I can get GV to notify me of new SMS is to open the app and wait a few seconds.I haven't changed any settings, wondering if anyone can help here.

No problems, then all of the sudden a voicemail notification from my regular voicemail (voice cassette tape) shows up in my notification bar. I can't get into my regular verizon voicemail and I can't clear the notification.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with Google Voice. When I get an incoming text, I don't get any notification for it. I have inbox notifications checked, but it doesn't happen until I manually open the GV inbox, or sometimes not until I open the inbox and the specific conversation the message was a part of. This is true, even 8 hours later. So if I don't check my GV inbox/conversations for 8 hours, the phone gives me no notification of a message. I know this is not normal because a month ago I was having no problem with this. Could it be that I started using ADW Launcher a couple weeks ago? I haven't heard of any issues with this caused by ADW before Another thing I've experienced weird is the Gmail app. This morning I received 2 e-mails at about 7 and 8 a.m., though again I got no notification in the status bar and I had no idea I'd received the e-mails until I manually checked the Gmail app, even though notifications are enabled. This hasn't been a problem until a couple days ago. Thirdly, sometimes a friend will text my GV number and it will send to make phone's message inbox, not to GV. This only happens with one contact, and even then not all the time. My friend says he sends all of the texts to the same number, but I suspect he has my old number still in his phonebook and sometimes he just selects the wrong number, so I don't suspect it to be related, but this issue started happening at the same time as the other notification issues, so I thought I should include it.I would be very grateful for any help/advice you guys could provide!

From my understanding google voice does not support that. I did read about an application called iTim for the iphone which allows you to use MMS through google voice. Is there any such product for the Android? Having SMS/texting through google voice would save $30/month on my cell phone bill, so it's kind of a big deal.

Went through the verification process and dialed the * number from my phone and everything went well. Got my welcome messages and all. Problem is though when I call myself and voicemail picks up, It just says "We are having trouble completing your call. Enter the phone number you are trying to reach".

This creates a problem because my phone is a 216 area code. So I can't call my own voicemail - It just says the number cannot be completed as dialed. When I call from a different area code it's fine. No contact groups or anything are blocked and I can call out. I'm stock and haven't rooted or anything.

Do all calls that go through my google voice number count as friends and family? Also, I currently do not have google voice set up to make calls. Been loving my x but has been letting me down since the new battery, though i love the battery life with it. Guess i need to try the old battery again and see if it improves.

Yet, I have heard that SMS messages sent through GV aren't as speedy or reliable as those sent through your carrier. I've read that it often takes up to 5 minutes to receive a text message after one is sent to you. If I'm in the middle of a "texting conversation" I don't want to have to wait 5 minutes to receive a reply to one of my texts.. Is this true? Or does Google Voice SMS work like a charm and I should just drop my $20 a month text plan?
