Here is what I noticed; try to make a shortcut for your contacts. In my contacts list, all is fine, it shows picture of contact, the right one. But after creating shortcut, picture shows either "no picture".

Is it possible to save a picture that is sent to you using the stock messaging program on the Droid? If not what is a good replacement app will let me do this? When creating shortcuts to call or message someone is there a way to get rid of the M (H, W, etc) that is put in the upper left corner of the icon on my screen? I don't mind the little phone or convo. icons in the right corner but the M is just too big and covers up a good bit of the icon

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my droid 2. All set up and rolling. However, I am adding shortcuts to my contacts on my desktop (ala the d1) by pressing and holding the screen, then Shortcuts > Contact. I scroll to the contact and select it. and it adds them to the home screen. Unfortunately, it adds them with the WRONG icon. It IS an existing icon for a user just not the user I am selecting. Also: It is only when I add it to the home screen as a shortcut when it gets jacked. Anyone else seeing this or have a solution? Also, I use google to sync all my contacts. I use Gmail to set the icons. There is only a certain size which can be used. but on the D2, the same contact icons/images seem to be blown out. Like I COULD use a bigger size image, bug I dont think that Google allows it? Anyone know what size contact image the 2 can handle and a way to use that image through Gmail? So far, moving from a D1 to a D2Im not completely impressed. but it is faster and works well. except for this issue. And the moto blur crap. Also to note... when using the (HORRIBLE) motorola contact widget the icon/image IS correct. but cmon, is this widget even useful? How many people have only one number? And I need a 4x4 widget for one contact... mobile, home, text, email, etc.. BS. Really the function on the D1 of adding a shortcut to a contact is much better. add em, click the icon, then it asks you what you want to do (text, call, email, talk, etc)... the D2 still does this but you have to go into Contacts and click on the person first before getting the options.

For some reason, a bunch of my contacts are showing up as their Twitter names, and I'd rather have it be their real name, which I have listed under their Google accounts (for example, GreenMike vs. Mike Green). I even unlinked my Twitter account, but the names stayed the same. Similarly, is there a way to set it so the contact pictures are Google account pictures by default?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince updating to 2.2, when i add a shortcut to someone's contact info by (holding finger on screen>shortcut>contact>John Doe) it does not use the picture. Instead I just get the "shadow outline thingy" for their picture, even though the picture is still there in contacts app.
The only things I've added since doing the update are Facebook and Takephone, but I don't think either of those are the culprit since they are showing their pictures just fine...
So I have my Facebook account set to sync with my contact but I use Google voice all the time for text and phone. Is there a way to get the pictures that go with my contact to show up when they text or call my gvoice number?
All my pictures are from Facebook so if everything works right the pictures I see in gvoice should be the same as the profile pix in FB.
How do I get Gmail pictures to show up in contacts list? I only have one contact with their picture showing up, and 25-30 that are not. Do I have to set the contact up differently for the picture to sync with Gmail?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI like how contact shortcuts are done in Android 2.1, where you click on the contact shortcut and a quick menu showing phone, contact card, SMS and email are shown. I also like how when you click one of those items, you get to choose, for example, Text Home or Text Mobile. What I seem to be noticing, though, is that if I check the box that says, "Do this action by default" or whatever it is, then it does things by default for all of those actions. For example, if I check that box when I select "Text Mobile," because, really, I'm never ever ever ever going to text someone at home, then I go and select the call icon, rather than asking me if I want to Call Home or Call Mobile, it just calls (in this case, mobile). Anyone know how I can straighten this out and have my "default" only affect the one action?

I have Google as my contact sync and whenever I pick photos of people they get all pixelated once it does a sync with Google. My pictures are good quality pics that i saved to my sd card & then i just added them while creating contacts etc. is their a easy fix to this? i also have a app that lets you display a full caller id photo when your being called but it does not look good right now.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI import VCF's with contact details from the company intranet into google contacts to get the details to my Magic (Vodafone, Android 1.6). This works just fine but the pictures get messed up:
Picture of person A ends up connected to the picture of person B or C. Pictures don't show up when dialing or incoming calls are received, they only show up when searching. Please note: in google contacts all looks fine. Again, I'm quite content with the way it works, the picture handling is just confusing.
Recently I have noticed my contact pictures in my people widget and when someone calls me are rather blurry and out of focus, they weren't like this, just happened recently, I was wondering if anyone else has seen this problem and no how to correct it, without a hard reset. Have turned phone on and off, removed widget and put it back, looked in settings for some settings for pictures, nada, that I can find.

I enjoyed the Facebook syncing on 1.5, but I don't really have any interest in bringing over my Facebook contact photos as caller ID pictures (it's annoying when someone posts a picture of a car, for example, as their default picture -- my friend is not a Toyota). I do like seeing status updates in my People app and having access to a unified "updates" panel in People.
I've gone into the "link" settings and changed the photo manually to the Google Contacts photo that I specified, and that works fantastically -- until Facebook for HTC Sense does its hourly sync and overwrites that preference with the contact's default Facebook picture AGAIN.
I've tried syncing, un-syncing, removing the sync option, etc. in the past 2 leaks and this problem remains. Am I missing something or is this just another annoying beta bug that HOPEFULLY will be gone in OTA?
Does the synced Facebook contact pictures still show up blurry, or are the crisp like in 1.5? I haven't seen a thread about this so I thought I would ask.

It's not the biggest deal, but if I could find a way to preserve them for easy restoration when I update, that'd be great.

I don't like having to do two key combos or having to switch to the home screen and/or app screen. Plus, I don't like to have a lot of clutter on my home screen.Naturally, this would only work whilst using the physical keyboard but hen I'm browsing the web or talking on gtalk, I might think of something and want to quickly bring up a notepad app to write down some notes.I know that it's nit-picking, but I like to be quick and efficient with my phone. When I start the tether, I don't receive any errors (although I haven't checked the log), but when I look for the Droids access point, it's not shown on the list. I have access control enabled and it hasn't notified me that a device is trying to connect. I followed and have only done the following to root and to install wireless tether to the phone:

I have my hotmail setup on my X. and recently every few hours it shows every mail in my inbox as new. I go and mark them all as ready and then somewhere in the 2 to 24 hour range it will do it again.
