View 4 RepliesIs there a way to stop the Droid X from charging when it's connected via USB? Here's the situation. I take a train to commute to work, it's about a 90 minute ride, and there's no AC power. I like to use my laptop during the commute to get some work done, and with my new droid I bought an app that tethers the internet connection, but only over USB.
Problem is, when it's connected over USB, the laptop battery charges the phone, and the laptop dies after about 45-60 minutes. Without the phone connected, I can use it for my whole commute. So I really need to be able to disable the charging while still maintaining the data connection from the phone to the laptop.
I can't get my HTC Desire HD to connect to my laptop (Asus - Windows 7)with bluetooth.I get a message on the phoned 'paired but not connected' any ideas what I am doing wrong or how to rectify please? All drivers seem to be up to date though the latest sync patch - Driver_HTC Wildfire_setup_3.0.5481 wont initialise and run.

But it seems to drop the connection for no reason, my previous phone a sony ericsson would just stay connected all the time, this drops it when it likes, could be 2 min, to 2 hours before i have to reconnect then disconnect then connect.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to access my external HDD that is connected to my laptop with ES File Explorer, as it has all my media on it.I can access folders on my laptop's internal HDD, but when I try to access the shared folders in my external I get the following message:
Login Fails
This may be caused by:
WLAN is of
SMB server is out of network
The IP is invalid
Blocked by the firewall
SMB service is off
The external drive is formatted with NTFS file system.
At the moment I'm using an mk 808 as media player with two usb drives attached (and xbmc).
I was planning on installing a samba server on the mk808 as well (sanba filesharing), but that seemed to be rather slow (probably because the connection to the router isn't that great). The other samba or ftp servers I tried weren't faster or couldn't read/write to the usb drives.
Of course just plugging in the usb drives in the laptop is a good option, but I was trying to avoid having to disconnect them from the mk808.
I have also been thinking about just connecting the mk808 to the laptop, but then it only shows the sdcard folder. Is it possible to mount the usb-drives in a subfolder of the sdcard and then being able to acces them through usb-connected mk808? I tried changing the mountpoint in vold.fstab, but that didn't seem to affect anything (still mounting to the same spot)
I did something stupid and tried to put the Galaxy S status bar on the D2 without realizing it is for the X. Now it's stuck in an endless bootloop. What should I do? I was trying to do the D2 2.2 SBF but how do I connect since it keeps rebooting? EDIT: Found some info online during my panic. Allowed me to start the SBF, hopefully it works. "Power on holding the power key and the Up arrow key on the keyboard. After the M logo appears, release the two keys. That will put your Droid into the bootloader, then you can connect it to your PC via USB and use the SBF post to bring your phone back to normal."
View 3 Replies View RelatedI decided to take the plunge today and load up FroYo on my X. Backed it up and wiped it through ROM manager then loaded FroYo through it. Got into it and went to do a restore from Titanium Backup only to realize that i had forgotten to do such a thing prior to loading FroYo. So i decided that since I have never flashed an sbf before that I might as well try it so i could restore the nandroid i made right before updating and then back it up with Titanium Backup and then go back to FroYo. In hindsight, this may not have been the smartest thing I have ever done. Ive loaded the sbf file 3 times now i think, RSDlite says its rebooting the phone, then after a while it says please manually reboot the phone and at some point before then my phone starts boot looping on the eye. I'm running on win7 if that makes a difference, i installed everything from the bomb and followed the instructions for flashing in windows from there as well.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI was trying deodexing manually and ran into big problems, now in bootloop. I want to just custom recovery restore to the deodexed ROM here (Droid X 2.2 Froyo Deodexed and Ready For Themes) but cannot because I get the following error every time I try to restore a backup from custom recovery: "e:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 device or resource busy.I think I found out that it is because this Koush recovery is the original 2.1 version, so I need the 2.2 one.Two things:-Where do I get this 2.2 newer version? His site doesn't mention it but maybe he just replaced the file download without mentioning? http://www.koushikdutta. com/2010/08/droid-x-recovery.html)-How can I install this newer recovery if I am stuck in bootloop?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is weird. My wife and I both have droid x's purchased same day. I connected my wifes X to my laptop, the laptap goes through the install process and tells me that I'm missing a driver. I also notice that the X is charging. I disconnected it and connected my X and nothing. No charge no attempt to install. I have the debugg checked on both X's. Why will it atleast charge on one X and not the other? What do I need to do to my X. I also touched the usb icon on my X and tried each option and nothing either.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis could be a long post so here's the gist of it: my new laptop running Windows 7 doesn't want to mount my Droid when my external harddrive is connected. I tried a couple different tests using my Droid, my external harddrive, and a thumbdrive to try to isolate one of the devices as being screwy, but... When I mount the droid FIRST and then connect my external harddrive, the computer will automatically unmount the droid when the external harddrive is connected. If I connect the external harddrive first and THEN try to mount the droid, the droid just won't mount.
When I mount the droid FIRST and then connect my thumbdrive, everything works fine. If I connect the thumbdrive first and THEN try to mount the droid, everything works fine then too. When I connect the external harddrive and the thumbdrive to the laptop at the same time, I get no problems here either. (NOTE: All of this mounting is done via USB but I get this problem when I try to mount via bluetooth too... The computer will pair and connect with the droid via bluetooth, but when I try to use Windows Explorer to browse the files on the droid, it pops up on the laptop with "service not available".) It seems that my external harddrive seems to have something personal against my Droid...But I never had this problem on my old laptop (which ran Windows Vista).
Just got my X @ 12:01 this morning at a midnight release in Roanoke, Va needless to say I'm stoked! But, I got into the office this morning and tried plugging it into my laptop to charge via the USB cable and it didn't work?

For example I press the home button and it thinks I pressed something on the screen instead.
