Nov 3, 2010My new Desire was delivered Monday evening. It is on the 3 network. Have a great signal at home - H.
Took it to work for the first time yesterday and had a great signal in my office too. I'm also getting H there most of the time, occasionally it drops to 3G but only for a few seconds then goes back to H. Internet browsing is fast and smooth.
So far so good then, I went downstairs however and noticed that I had no signal. How can it go from the strongest possible signal upstairs to no signal at all downstairs?
HTC Desire :: Battery Drops 7-9 Percent Within Seconds Of Disconnecting The Charger
Aug 17, 2010Just got a new Desire (ordered it ages ago but had to wait for the delivery with Super LCD) and sometimes, but not every time, I see that the battery drops anywhere between 7-9 percent moments after disconnecting the charger.
I'm curious whether anyone else has had this. Is this a calibration thing, or a problem with the phone, or the battery? Or an app? I'm using both Battery Indicator and JuicePlotter and they both show the same thing, the same drop. Curiously JuicePlotter tells me the drop sometimes occurs once or twice while charging in the night, too.
I'm a bit loathe to send it back to the shop after waiting well over 6 weeks for the thing in the first place, so I thought I'd check here first. I'm hoping it's just teething issues and will balance out in a few days. I got the phone about 4 days ago.
General :: Battery Drops Instantly On Data Connection?
Sep 11, 2013i have this strange issue with my old Xperia X10 (about 3 years old, running 2.3.3). The phone runs fine, fully charged can last two days with normal usage (as always). I can play any games for hours before the battery goes dead. But as soon as I turn on data connection, both wifi or mobile network, it runs about 2 minutes and suddenly "turning off" window appears and the phone shuts down. When I start up the phone again, the battery is about 20-30% lower than before the shutdown (depends on the percentage, can drop to zero if charged at 50%) and shuts down again after couple seconds (i can barely type in the PIN code). But if I manage to turn the data connection off again in those few seconds, it doesn't shut down anymore and runs normally again. Weird thing is that in following hour after this incident, the battery slowly recharges itsself back to the original state (or little below it, just as it normally would). Here is the pic:
I guess its not faulty battery or anything, probably its software related but I can't imagine a sw that could drain the battery so fast (in seconds), almost like if it short-circuited the battery.
Motorola Droid :: Slow 3G Speed With Consistent 4 Bars?
Nov 20, 2009This is my first smartphone and my first experience with any sort of high-speed mobile internet, so talk to me like an idiot. But my 3g speeds seem to be incredibly slow and I'm hoping there's something I can do about it. I might've just chalked it up to poor coverage in this area, but I get consistent 4 bars and I've ran SpeedTest.net and XtremeLabs Speedtest and, oddly, I'm getting very high numbers for upload speeds which seems to suggest the network is fine in this vicinity and something else is going on. WiFi speeds are perfect, very quick.
Here are the results of my most recent tests.

Max Download: 100.2 kbps
Upload: 223.6 kbps (Don't know about the large discrepancy here)
So is there any course of action I can take to improve the situation? I've not tested speeds at any other locations yet (just got the phone Wednesday) but the high upload speed seems to tell me that it's not just a matter of my house being a 3g dead zone. And of course, this is my first experience so maybe I'm completely wrong with all my assumptions.
Motorola Droid :: Consistent Issue W/ESE53 ROMs And Youtube Player
Mar 8, 2010I've seen an issue now on both Chevy's and Pete's ESE53 ROMs.
I play a video using the youtube player, and the video locks up, touchscreen and phone buttons non-responsive, and then the phone reboots.
I did a full wipe/reset and installed all apps from the market when I installed Pete's ROM, so it's not due to a messy setup...
Doesn't happen every time, but very frequently. Last night I played some or all of three videos, no issue. This morning tried one and my phone locked up/rebooted within the first five seconds of the video.
HTC Hero :: WiFi Only Connected For 10 Seconds - No Connection
Mar 28, 2010I hot major WiFi trouble, connects to belkin n routes for ten seconds then says no connection, after three phones orange says it router, I am well annoyed with the whole situation and orange are saying that view have no other calls or problems with the hero, seems strange as it hot topic here.

Apr 3, 2014I have been having a problem with my HTC One phone since I got it. My 4G connection will stay connected for about 30 seconds to a minute, and then it will revert back to 3G. I have already looked this up before and I have done the following:
-Changing my network mode setting to "LTE/CDMA", and then restarting the phone
-Making sure all recent updates have been installed
-Making sure my plan was actually eligible to connect to 4G (it is)
-Making sure there is 4G coverage in my area (again, it is)
-Always leaving "Automatic Connections" on

Feb 10, 2010I notice this more when Handcent/Chomp are installed but even without it seems that sometimes my phone just stops replicating. TXTS not gotten, emails not coming in emails not being sent (this is when I really notice it) Power cycle the phone and presto everything is back to working.
Example, I just restarted my phone and the email that was hanging was sent the very second it started back up then 51 emails came into my inbox
Anyone else have these issues? If not I think I'm gonna have to call VZW about another phone coming my way.

Jul 18, 2010The thing they talked about the most was how GREAT the battery life is, well let me tell you. they are all a bunch of liars. Ive never had a phone with battery life as terrible as this thing. i've talked to a rep that told me "just gotta let it drain and then charge. do that a couple times and it should be fine" ok i figured that was all nonsense because she wanted me off the phone so i did that. Now did that work? no of course not. i take it off the charger and after 6 minutes and 23 seconds of use it drops down 10%, the back is pretty warm at all times. i've turned off the GPS, WIFI, and whatever else their is to turn off. Its insanely pathetic. Is anyone else having this problem, it seems like no matter what when you get a verizon phone its guaranteed to break or have a problem. I get through about 5 hours of very moderate use.

I connect to my windows 7 pc and it is fine for surfing the web but if i download torrents it works for a couple minutes then i can see the 3g icon go away and come back over and over. But i download torrents fine if i use pdanet to tether.

Nov 23, 2009Is anyone else seeing this behavior?right before I make a voice call the droid will show 4 bars, when I place a voice call it will drop to 0 bars and the voice quality is pretty bad.In the phone settings you can see the DBm signal strengh and before I make a call it will show -96 and when I make a call it will go to -104.I have noticed this even when right on top of a cell tower.You actually don't notice it when the signal is very strong, but on my droid it does appear that the signal degraded significantly when doing a voice call.It also does the same thing when the Wifi is turned on, it's almost like it's switching to another antenna for the voice when wifi is on or you make a call.So far I have not been impressed with the phones voice quaility at all.

The battery seems to hold off fine, but then as soon as the battery hits about 35%, it goes into a free fall until finally - minutes later - the 5% warning pops up and all of the sudden the phone shuts off and has to be charged to above 10% before it will even turn on.

Motorola Droid :: Screen Won't Time Out After 30 Seconds
Jun 28, 2010I set my screen time out to 30 seconds and..it's been 30 seconds my screen is not timing out. This can be REALLY annoying when I forget to push the power button and just put the phone in my pocket and the battery drains.
I called verizon about this yesterday they had me turn my phone off and back on and then it did time out. Today I tried the same thing and it's not timing out..
The phone is brand new, only 3 days old has not been dropped or anything.

I can open and take pictures using an Fx camera, but anytime I try to open the camera or camcorder it will open for maybe 2 seconds then just close, sometimes my screen will just be completely black, and also sometimes it tells me camera not available try again another time.

Apr 29, 2010Connect to my secured Wi-fi network fine when the network is broadcasting (network name not "hidden"). As soon as the network is no longer broadcasting (i.e. network is changed to stop broadcasting the name), DInc drops the wi-fi connection.
Settings menu shows the name of the network is remembers from previous connection but states that it is "not in range" (and remembered).
Wi-fi network is secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK and is an Apple Airport Extreme with (b, g, n).
Anyone experience this and appreciate any suggestions which would allow the DInc to stay connected to a "closed network."

May 16, 2010I have a weird situation with AlarmManager. I am scheduling an event with AlarmManager and passing in a string using intent.putExtra. The string is either silent or vibrate and when the receiver fires the phone should either turn of the ringer or set the phone to vibrate.
The log statement correctly outputs the expected value each time.

The receiver that fires when the alarm executes also has a log statement and I can see the first time around that the statement outputs the expected string either SILENT or VIBRATE but for each subsequent execution the output shows the original value on the receiver end. The alarm executes and then I change the value for putExtra to opposite string and the receiver still displays the previous value event though the call from the code above shows that the new value was passed in. The value for setAction is the same each time.

But When the phone consolidated everyone from Outlook, Facebook, and Google (about 800 people, everything is all screwed up and inconsistent. For example, on stock 2.2, my seek bar (with default values and theme) has an orange color for the selected portion, whereas on a Samsung Galaxy S (with 2.1), it is green. Also the tab background is grey in stock 2.2, but blue in Galaxy S. On a similar note, my rating bar changes size too. I do not implement multiple screen resolutions and all my drawables are located in the "drawables" folder under "res". I donot specify a minimum sdk requirement.

Dec 22, 2009I'm using the UI test monkey tool provided with android. This is a consistent error I see and wonder how I can avoid it.
Somehow the test app will rotate the orientation of my app such that the emulator window is still in portrait orientation, but the screen surface is in a landscape orientation. When in this configuration, any time you click on an EditText, a system exception gets thrown:
"The application OpenWnn (process jp.co.omronsoft.openwnn) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
So this OpenWnn process is not mine, it looks like it handles display of the virtual keyboard. When in this odd orientation mode, and you try to click in an EditText, I can see the virtual keyboard try to slide in from the left side of the screen, then that exception gets thrown.
I'm not sure what orientation this is, because it's not the normal landscape orientation you get by hitting ctrl + F11. In fact, the virtual keyboard shouldn't even be trying to display itself in landscape mode? Much less from the left side of the emulator?
