for example the iphone has the lil magnifying glass and you can go through the whole sentence to put the cursor where you want it its horrible and a pain in the @$$, so anyways is there an app out there that fixes this? or is the update in dec. gonna have some NEW feature. and i wish the predictive text was better also i find myself going back and correcting a lot of the words

For the past week or so I've been having issues with the bottom left corner of my touch screen (in portrait). If I am typing a text I cant select the letter Z or the shift/caps key. I also have a hard time selecting shortcuts in that corner. I am running the 1st 2.1 leak if that makes any difference. Is anyone experiencing touchscreen issues that may have any solutions or should I get a replacement? Does anyone think the OTA might fix this? BTW, I've calibrated my phone several times to no avail. It also happens in landscape but it shifts to the bottom right corner of course!
View 13 Replies View RelatedThe Droid is my first smartphone. Before it I was texting with the dialpad, and the phone would count down how many letters I have left (out of 160, the text msg length). Using the "messaging" icon on the Droid it never says when I'm approaching the text message limit. So is this "messaging" icon really like an instant messenger? It's not GTalk, that's another icon. If I send a 250 character txt message through the "messaging" app, does it get broken into 2 messages for the receiver?

Let's say I was typing for a bit and I noticed that I mis typed something. If I want to put my cursor where the mis typed letter is, it is not always the easiest thing to do. I noticed on my friends iphone if he were to put the cursor near the letter and hold his finger there a zoomed in window would pop up and alow him to move the cursor to the location he wants to put it.
Is there any app that can do this on the droid?
Coming from the Blackberry world I was wondering if someone (BK?) has made it possible to make the touch keyboard Make a Capital letter when holding down the Key..instead of the crazy character menu I get now.?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was watching a video on Android 2.0 (from the Google Conference, I believe) and the presenter show a feature that allowed you to pull up your contact list and simply start "drawing" the letters of the contact you are looking for and it will jump right to it, rather than having to scroll down. For example you would draw "e" then "r" and it would jump right to Eric.
I haven't seen this discussed anywhere else when testing the phone, so I thought either this feature didn't make it or it needs to be enabled or something.
Anyone else seen or know anything about this?
Do you have a problem with the letter "C" always popping up where you don't want it when your texting or entering info via the tap screen? This is so annoying! LOL! I keep forgetting I have the slide up keyboard to use sometimes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIve been trying to reroot my droid and get it back to 2.2, i get it to rooted 2.0.1 no issues but when i try to go from there to 2.2 I always get errors in SPrecovery, when i try to do install from SD card i get error 30, when i try to do a backup i usually get and error. I got the backup to go through once but when i try to restore I get error 20. in SPrecovery when I select /mount SD it says SD card can not be found.
In Droid root helper I've mounted renamed installed busybox and flas, ive flashed the recovery, unmounted, synced, rebooted.
seems to go through fine.
then I put the rom I want Kangerades (http://androidforums.com/roms-droid/117131-7-7-10-rom-froyo-kangerade-5-0-9-a.html) green one, I put it in the root of my SD card, reboot to recovery, backup (try to, usually fails) wipe cache, then i try to install ROM from SD card keeps giving error. ( ive tried without wiping cache, with out wiping data and withou wiping both)
and tips? is their something im doing wrong? (first time I rooted and went to 2.2 I had much less issues.
I have also wiped my SD card completely and reinstalled everything (tools etc...)
A friend of mine was asking my why the new version of K-9 Mail doesn't have multi-select anymore. I was confused as mine does. So, with some investigating we found that K-9 Mail Beta is no long a beta version. It's just "K-9 Mail", version 2.000. And it isn't as robust as the beat version. What's up with that?
Better backup your old beta version if you like it. And don't update to the new until they get that mess straightened out.
when attaching a picture onto a txt message, once the select picture page shows up it force closes me saying the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly it does this everytime! its becoming a pain tryin to attach pictures onto txt messages. anyone else having this problem?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI upgraded to the new beta of swype and since then have found one minor issue. when i try to loop on a letter to do a double letter like the t in the word letter, i have difficulty doing so. I have to make a very large loop that only crosses over the letter, rather than looping on top of it like i used to be able to do. i'm not sure if this is just something to do with a setting that got changed or if it is a bigger issue.

It's kind of annoying (using Handcent) to have to press on the spellchecked word before moving on or sending a text message. Sometimes I can just hit send, and sometimes it just blinks at me until I confirm that, yes, I did want to end my message or sentence with "Why?" or whatever happens to be at the end.

I have a longer sentence >200 characters. I need to show on the screen having parts of them in different color, like highlighting search results, each with different color. The text should auto wrap with screen width, and have no break sections between parts. I meant with this that I can put sections on a new line. They will have to continue the previous section, only wrap when the screen is off.
The best would be an EditText, as I need to allow editing also, but I am wondering I am able to change the color of various sentence parts, or just as a whole. What do you think, with what UI elements can I achieve this view?
My application displays Hebrew text which comes from a Web Service. When a sentence contains digits (in the middle of it), the digits appear in a mirror view: 29 appears as 92, 21:45 appears as 54:12 and 2,000 appears as 000,2.
Also, when a sentence starts with digits or English characters, they get thrown to the end of the sentence messing it all up... Is RTL support in Android still immature?
I've recently got my first ever smartphone, a Galaxy Note 2, and I like it a lot. I especially like being able to enter text with the stylus in my own handwriting.
The catch is that I write in BLOCK CAPITALS, and I would like the phone to automagically convert this input into lowercase (or ideally sentence case). I've tried googling around for an app or setting to do this, but all I could find was guidance for app developers on case conversion.
write in lowercase or to use an onscreen keyboard; I bought the phone as a paper notebook replacement, not as a tiny laptop.
I'm using Docs to Go on my Incredible. If I have the keyboard open in the landscape view, it only displays half a sentence of text and I can't scroll through the text at all. It makes editing impossible. Any ideas how to fix this?

I have been moving pictures from one folder to another, but I can only move one at a time. Is there a way to select multiple picture files and move them to another folder (like "Select All" with Windows)? This is the sequence I've been following: Use the Edit Icon in the Astro taskbar, select Move, then going to the directory folder I want to move them, and hit Paste. Moving one file at a time is taking for ever.

The relevant parts of my ListViewActivity: public class MyListViewActivity extends ListActivity browsed around stackoverflow.com and the google; the above is something that should work. But it isn't. setSelection(i) appears to be the method I want to call on ListView but it's not working as advertised. What am I doing wrong? Is this even possible on Android in code?
