Nov 29, 2009Is there anyway to clear defaults for the stock messaging app? I already tried going into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, but I can't seem to find the Messaging app.. Help? I'd really like to set chompSMS as my default Messaging service, but I accidentally selected the stock Messaging app as the default when it asked me to.

Oct 16, 2010I got this second messaging icon that appears in the top left when I get a text. Its relentless and can only be cleared by dropping down the notification window and clicking on 'clear'. It looks like a small envelope but not very good graphically. I originally thought it was default app notification but its not. I'm rooted and have a custom rom installed. Someone please tell me how to stop it, I can't take it anymore.

Sep 22, 2010I noticed that the contact pictures that are being used aren't those in my contacts (they have the FB pics) instead they are using the contact pictures I have up on Google in my contacts. Is there anyway to change that? Also, the box around the image makes the image very small, anyway to get rid of that?

Dec 4, 2009Curious about people's thoughts about these different messaging options. Removing / barring the pre-update issues with the native messaging app on the phone, which one of these do you prefer? I am currently using the native app, seems fine to me, I like that I can link contacts to FB etc. Not necessarily looking for something that plagiarize's the iPhone messenger (cartoon bubbles), but I am always open to something new if it is better than the app preloaded on the phone. If you don't use the native app, is there a widget for Handcent or Chomp (like the native) to make viewing and responding easy?

Sep 3, 2010So after this 2.2 update, i have been slowly starting to use the native messaging app again, and i can honestly say it is finally on par with chomp. Minus the customization of notifications and backgrounds and whatnot, all of which i dont really use, i am wondering if i should do away with chomp and go back to the stock app? The only thing i think i would miss about chomp is how i have it set so when i get a text the screen lights up so i can slide down and read it without having to press the lock button up top. Thoughts?

May 24, 2010Anybody know why my green LED stopped blinking all of a sudden? I just got 2 texts (stock messaging app) but my light is not blinking anymore. I see the notification on the top of my screen, but no light. The light isn't broken as it still lights up w/ emails.

Also noticed on some but not all of the text messages I get, the CB# appears on each one. Now I saw the setting in messaging that you can disable that, but I think that is for my text messaging going out to the other person correct? Is there any way to stop this from appearing in each text I receive? The weird thing is, it does not happen for all users in my contact list, just a few.

Sep 8, 2010Since I got the original 2.2 update for my Droid, whenever I get a new text message and slide down the notification bar and select the new message, it takes me to the main text message window rather than the actual thread to reply to the person. It is really annoying because it requires an extra step. I figured it would be fixed with the second 2.2 update but it didn't. I called Verizon and they called Motorola and nobody knew of the problem so they shipped me out a new phone and it still does it! I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this or if its normal. It doesn't do it 100% of the time but closer to 90% probably.

Oct 24, 2010Stock messaging app has become very laggy with over 3000 messages, some spawning threads of around 800 messages.Also, deleting them, while being an option, shouldn't be necessary. I delete all of my messages at the start of a new billing cycle and that's how it's always been with my smartphones, so none of those suggestions please For those of you who use 3rd party SMS apps, with large amounts of text messages, do you notice any of them being laggy?

I use Handcent, and lately I have been finding it to be quite laggy and slow, even with cache cleared and all threads deleted. Is the only difference between stock and aftermarket, the fact that you can customize? I would much rather have a plain looking stock app that performs well, then a customizable aftermarket app that is slow. I am just looking for some opinions.

Aug 8, 2010Handcent NEVER worked on my phone and ive been having troubles with chomp lately so i went back to stock. The things that bug me about the stock one are:
- When i receive a picture message, its displayed in a slideshow and only have 5 seconds to view it before it disappears.
HOW DO I DISABLE THAT OR ADD MORE TIME TO VIEW IT?
- I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to save a picture i receive,

HTC Eris :: Rooted Droid Stock Messaging App Crashing
Sep 11, 2010I rooted my Droid Eris 2 days ago and have had multiple problems with it. The first problem was it wasn't receiving a signal at all. The 2nd problem I had was after I had wiped my device flashed the ROM and rebooted it kept saying htc.touch.input.app has encountered a problem and i had to force close it. Now it is not letting me get in to the stock messaging app to read any texts.

Oct 10, 2010I'm a long time Nokia user and got my first android phone two weeks ago and there are still some learning to do in order to know how to use it properly. Today I accidentally removed one of the short keys from the home screen and I'm not able to get it back to it's place. To be more exact, it is the messaging short key which is located on the bottom bar of the screen. The other ones (Phone, Contacts & Applications) are still the, but when I'm trying to return the messaging icon back to the bottom bar, I always end up with the trash can over the area where I'm supposed to place the icon.What can I do, How do I get the icon back on the home screen?

Jul 29, 2010I think I know the answer already but it's worth asking again! Is there any way to set the stock messaging app so that you get a constant reminder that a text message has been received? I've missed quite a few already because the led light only flashes for a short time. I uninstalled handcent as I was unable to send or receive picture messages with it, and the app was slightly laggy when quite a few messages were stored. Looks like I'll have to go back to handcent if I want a constant flashing led as a reminder. Does chomp offer the same customization?

It seems anyone who I have as a friend on there is showing up in my contacts list, sometimes several times.It makes selecting a contact to send a text to a right mission. I was happy enough with Handcent until today but due to MMS problems I thought I'd give the stock app a go.
