Motorola Droid X :: 2.2 Changes Stock Messaging App
Sep 22, 2010I noticed that the contact pictures that are being used aren't those in my contacts (they have the FB pics) instead they are using the contact pictures I have up on Google in my contacts. Is there anyway to change that? Also, the box around the image makes the image very small, anyway to get rid of that?

Sep 27, 2010i completly deleted the stock messaging app, ive been using Handcent, but now im having issues with Handcent sending mms so i looked it up and im not the only one. but it seems that people are still able to use the stock app to send mms. before i got handcent i was using the stock app and it was working fine.where can i get the stock app from? i am rooted and do not have the stock app backed up.

May 24, 2010Anybody know why my green LED stopped blinking all of a sudden? I just got 2 texts (stock messaging app) but my light is not blinking anymore. I see the notification on the top of my screen, but no light. The light isn't broken as it still lights up w/ emails.

Sep 14, 2010Is there any way to change the color or get rid of the bubble look of the stock messaging app? don't want to use Handcent or Chomp, so what are my options? (If any). Also noticed on some but not all of the text messages I get, the CB# appears on each one. Now I saw the setting in messaging that you can disable that, but I think that is for my text messaging going out to the other person correct? Is there any way to stop this from appearing in each text I receive? The weird thing is, it does not happen for all users in my contact list, just a few.

Sep 8, 2010Since I got the original 2.2 update for my Droid, whenever I get a new text message and slide down the notification bar and select the new message, it takes me to the main text message window rather than the actual thread to reply to the person. It is really annoying because it requires an extra step. I figured it would be fixed with the second 2.2 update but it didn't. I called Verizon and they called Motorola and nobody knew of the problem so they shipped me out a new phone and it still does it! I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this or if its normal. It doesn't do it 100% of the time but closer to 90% probably.

Feb 22, 2010Whats the scoop behind which one is really better? The stock messaging app or aftermarket apps (handcent and chomp). I use Handcent, and lately I have been finding it to be quite laggy and slow, even with cache cleared and all threads deleted. Is the only difference between stock and aftermarket, the fact that you can customize? I would much rather have a plain looking stock app that performs well, then a customizable aftermarket app that is slow. I am just looking for some opinions.

Aug 8, 2010Handcent NEVER worked on my phone and ive been having troubles with chomp lately so i went back to stock. The things that bug me about the stock one are:
- When i receive a picture message, its displayed in a slideshow and only have 5 seconds to view it before it disappears.
HOW DO I DISABLE THAT OR ADD MORE TIME TO VIEW IT?
- I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to save a picture i receive,
HOW DO I SAVE THE PHOTOS?
HTC Hero :: Stock Android Interface In VillainROM 12?
Jul 20, 2010I have VillainROM 12 installed on my Hero and have been playing around with various themes from the standard Sense UI to things like dxtop. I do want to try out the stock Android UI which I believe is accomplished by just going into Applications>Manage Applications>HTC Sense and selecting clear defaults thus setting it to stock Android. Thing is that in my install of VillainROM 12 the "clear defaults" button is greyed out and unavailable to be pressed. Is this an intentional thing in VR12 or am I maybe going to have to re-flash in order to achieve this?

Sep 11, 2010I rooted my Droid Eris 2 days ago and have had multiple problems with it. The first problem was it wasn't receiving a signal at all. The 2nd problem I had was after I had wiped my device flashed the ROM and rebooted it kept saying htc.touch.input.app has encountered a problem and i had to force close it. Now it is not letting me get in to the stock messaging app to read any texts.

Sep 17, 2010I'm still a noob droid owner so maybe I just don't get it but here are some things that drive me nuts with the contacts interface.please note* I have (2) gmail email accounts, and a facebook account.
1. some of my contacts say they have "profiles" linked. so I tap the profiles and it will say for example "google: bob, google: bob, phone contacts: bob" why? I don't want anything linked. I feel like I don't have any control over my contacts.
2. I noticed that my fiance is a contact "julia" and then today I noticed another contact with her full name and a picture. so I ctapped that to investigate and it was her facebook info and email. where the heck did that come from? why on earth would I want more than one option for her as a contact?I am really lost. I mean REALLY lost. it took me a while to figure out how to make contact groups, so that I can organize some of my professional contacts but the rest of this is killing me. I created a new professional contact which happens to be a pest control guy. I chose to create a new contact. I entered his name and phone number, also email address. then I saved it. then when I looked at it somehow it had 3 linked profiles like what I was saying in point #1 above. what the heck?Why can't I just have a contact list period. and the only thing in this contact list are contacts which were entered into the phone by me. for each contact, I have the option to store their many numbers, email, etc. so when I tap on contacts, I get a contacts list and not a thousand people some of which are duplicates, some of which are emails I've responded to in gmail who I never talk to like customerservice@whateverbusiness.com.I'm mystified. can someone explain to me that either I am confused or this system is over complicated?

One of the nice features I am a little envious of the ipods having is that about every stereo out there has an interface to control the ipod remotely. Jul 29, 2010I think I know the answer already but it's worth asking again! Is there any way to set the stock messaging app so that you get a constant reminder that a text message has been received? I've missed quite a few already because the led light only flashes for a short time. I uninstalled handcent as I was unable to send or receive picture messages with it, and the app was slightly laggy when quite a few messages were stored. Looks like I'll have to go back to handcent if I want a constant flashing led as a reminder. Does chomp offer the same customization?

May 21, 2010I'm so frustrated with MMS.I can't get them to send using Handcent or ChompSMS without numerous forwarding attempts. I can receive them immediately with no problems from other people even on differenct carriers, but they won't send.I finally got my SMS to stop crashing/force closing and deleting all my messages by uninstalling the Antivirus app. Im on day two (since the uninstall) without a force close.I had no problem sending MMS until I installed Handcent. I even uninstalled Handcent.Rebooted and re-installed. No outgoing MMS without 2 or 3 message forwards. I tried the Airplane Mode trick. No change. After uninstallling Handcent again, I chose ChompSMS to see if that works. Same thing.it's a no go for sending out. The stock messaging app is the only one that works, but it's so BORING.

I feel like I am completely missing something because I don't see an option to turn the stock messaging system off or to make Handcent my primary messaging service. May 19, 2010I downloaded Handcent and loved it, but the issue I had was that I was now getting notifications from both the stock HTC Messaging app and Handcent.
Since I use Google Voice for Visual Voicemail, and want to use Handcent for messaging, there is really no use for the stock HTC Messaging app.

Aug 3, 2010When I first got my EVO, one of the first things I heard to do was get Chomp or Handcent... I got both and was getting triple notifications... So I said i'll bear with it for a bit till I see which one I like best... I though Chomp was a lil better than handcent so i went them...
Then I kept getting double notifications even when turning off the stock messaging notifications....
So I said lemme give the stock app another try.... I can't front, its nice! I think I might even run with it for a little while to see if I like it enough to use all the time...

bring back stock message app because that one always worked smoothly.. Gingerbread 2.3.6 is the version off course.
General :: Speed Up Stock Messaging App?
Apr 8, 2012My phone (Xperia Play) came with pure Vanilla Gingerbread,. I've used SO many messaging apps like GO, Chomp, Handcent, Pansi, etc. and I just decide to go back to the stock app every time I switch apps after a day or two. The reason why I switch is because of one thing, the threads take too long to load on the stock app. I want to start texting. I have to wait literally 10 seconds just to open up a 1000 count thread. I don't like to delete my messages.
