Motorola Droid : Phone Without Text Messaging / Just Nationwide Talk?

So I am wanting to buy the Motorola Droid but looking to get ride of the messaging option such as text messaging. I mean I will have access to e-mail so do I really need text messaging? Trying to save some money and I really only get maybe 50 texts a month.

Anyone else have a Droid without the text option. Just Nationwide Talk?

Also another question: Anyone buy a Droid through Bestbuy? Looking to buy Droid through Bestbuy cause hubby wants the Blackberry 8530 Curve? and you can get it free when you buy the Droid. Otherwise through Verizon you can get the Eris with a purchase of the Droid but hubby insists on the Blackberry, he's lets say not really into computers anyways.

I'm looking for an app that'll help me find my phone via GPS without always having to have GPS enabled. I have Wave Secure and it doesn't have an option to turn my GPS on remotely, Lookout Mobile Security is the same way and Where's My Droid app requires GPS to be previously enabled.

The Internet location ability's accuracy within 200-1000ft radius doesn't seem useful if my phones stolen. I don't think walking from door to door, trying to listen in on each house for my alarm would work out too well.

Any app that could turn my GPS on remotely via codeword text or Internet site would be extremely useful.

does anyone have a copy of the Talk.apk. everytime i flash a new rom and do a titanium restore it makes talk mess up(tap the icon and it instantly closes) which in turn messes with all of the other google apps like market and gmail so i need to see if pushing another copy into /system/app will solve the problem.

So the Droid X's talk time is stated to be 8 hours, while the iPhone 4's talk time is stated to be 7 hours. Does that mean the Droid X's battery will last as long as the iPhone's? I'm not exactly sure how battery length works.

Im trying to figure out is there a program where I can transfer all my music from my laptop on windows to my unrooted htc evo. Been looking through all the forums but havent seen any. My nephew broke my usb so it has to be OTA. Now the icon problem. I recently downloaded a icon set from someone on these forums. It has talk text web icons. They are in like square bubbles. Their white and it says like Talk in big letters and dialer under. Then like Text in big letters and messengers under them. Wondering if there are anymore icons like that or if anyone could lead me in the right direction. Ok last one lol. I want to post my screen on my evo. My apple killer is unrooted and I do not have a usb. Is there anyway I can take a screenshot of my phone and get it on the forums without being rooted or having a usb?

I open to read it and its a reply from the conversation that I was having on my PC via the Droids Google talk. So I reply back via the Google talk on the PC and dag gone it, if his response didnt come back on the Droid. What the heck is that all about?

Is anybody else having a problem with google talk and receiving a "[somebody] did not receive your chat" message whenever you try to IM somebody? It happens both on my Droid and in the chat client in gmail. The reason I'm asking here is that it only seems to be affecting my buddy and me and we both have Droids. Our friends who don't have droids can talk to one-another, but any message to or from us have issues. Could be coincidence but I thought I'd ask.

Motorola Droid :: Google Talk Opens Even When Off/closed/killed

So, not much of a Google Talk user, but now and then. And, I mostly use it via my desktop gMail app.. not on my phone.

Anyway, I close out the Talk app, but no matter what, even if it is closed, killed, off, it activates itself when someone sends me a chat.. even if I am logged on via my gMail account.

How the heck can you shut it off? What is it that makes it start up because someone wants to chat. I see no way to stop it and I am not always in the mood or able to chat and do not want to be disturbed but this Google Talk seems to start up and alert you anyway.
