View 1 RepliesI played with the nexus one and you could compose a whole email message by speaking to the phone. I thought this was part of 2.1 for all phones. I can't seem to find this option. I did set up the text to speech, but I think this is different than speech to text.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to say an email or text message to myself or my wife sometimes. When I hold down the input field I get an input choice menu but the only option there is the Android Keyboard.Am I doing it wrong? What am I missing? I would also like to have it read emails to me, and word docs (or just .txt).I have a Kindle but my phone is a little more convenient for something I would rather read in bits and pieces while walking to and fro the car or whatever.

*I've tried using the htc_ime_jonasl_hires_22b2... It would not install on the htc even after I've enabled the IME under keyboard options.
I somehow activated the text to speech for incoming calls and text messages. (Says the name of contact calling/texting).How do I shut this off? I've spent days trying to figure it out with no luck.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo the 2.1 keyboard speech to text feature has proven itself nearly flawless for me and as such, I'd really like to use it to write much longer things like entire emails, but I'd like to know if there's a way to add punctuation and start a new sentence.

View 26 Replies View RelatedMy text to speech and speech to text does not work in any application. When i tap the microphone icon i get a message "your phone does not have speech recognition ENGINE and recgoinzer not found". I cant not find any apps to redownload this. Any ways to fix it? I am running new sholes 1.0 rom
FIXED... reinstalled the rom and now it came back. go figure
I know the INC has stated this is one of its features, does the Droid X also have it? I have an INC on order, but am switching over to a Droid X ( confirmed no re-stocking fee btw on INC-DX ) ASAP. I've just been checking out everything the INC has comparing it to the DX and didn't know if speech to text was part of the UI Sense or Android itself, coming from a RIM customer this is all greek to me - so far
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to make short shopping lists with speech to text, but that involves "hitting" the return key to go to the next line. How do I do this with speech? And along those same lines, how do I add punctuation?

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhy does the "Contacts" app not have an option to text. The only options I get are to call or email my contacts when I tap on the "contacts" icon.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I resend the exact same text message that I have already sent? I have 'long pressed' on the old message and here are the options that are available, but I do not see resend:
Open Message
Forward Message
Copy Message Text
View Message details
Delete Message
It looks like Forward will resend it but it puts 'Fwd:' at the beginning of the message. So, I didn't know if there was another way that would just resend the exact same typed message without adding anything to it.
Is there an application, widget or add-on that i can have where I can use the dialer as a text messaging option (ex. t9)?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know I'm comparing phones that are different, but the Blackberry has the option to turn off the phone, and 'wake up' right before the alarm goes off. This helps save battery life and keep from waking you up in case you get an email or text in the middle of the night. Is there any way the Eris has something comparable? I know there is an airplane mode - what is this? Any chance that's what I'm looking for?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for an app that'll help me find my phone via GPS without always having to have GPS enabled. I have Wave Secure and it doesn't have an option to turn my GPS on remotely, Lookout Mobile Security is the same way and Where's My Droid app requires GPS to be previously enabled.
The Internet location ability's accuracy within 200-1000ft radius doesn't seem useful if my phones stolen. I don't think walking from door to door, trying to listen in on each house for my alarm would work out too well.
Any app that could turn my GPS on remotely via codeword text or Internet site would be extremely useful.
I wonder if there is ability to replicate this feature from iOS :
In iOS you can turn on Accessibility function that add the "Speak" button to the "selection menu". And if you click, it would turn on Text To Speech engine and read selected text. Can I do the same thing in Android ?
PS: I assume that regular app could not modify "copy, paste, cut menu" so I probably need custom ROM. (I'm particularly interested Nexus 7 2013 solution, but I assume that solution should be universal because it is just modification to the "Selection menu" and add button)
For some reason in the past day or so, my speech recognition function makes a bleep noise when I activate it. I am pretty sure it never did before (I don't like beeps and bleeps). All my other settings are on vibrate or mute. I have gone through the various sound settings in the system menu and the language and input and can't find a way to turn it off. How to get that sound off? Or even tell me how it might have turned on?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a thread with over 1200 text messages in it which I need to delete to improve the lag on my phone. However there are a few of the messages which I would like to keep. I am using the stock message app. When I long press to delete the thread there is an option you can check to delete locked messages, however no where can I find the ability to lock a message. Does anyone know how to lock a message within a thread so you can delete the thread but keep just a few of the messages?
