How do I change my default messaging app to handcent? I don't like getting a notification from both handcent and messaging every time I get a message. Is there a way I can just set handcent to be the default app?

View 7 Replies View RelatedLots of my contacts - especially my "favorite" contacts - have multiple phone #'s, which is pretty typical. So it's a nice feature in the dialer that lets you select a specific number - home, office, mobile, etc., to dial every time you pull up the favorites tab within the dialer screen. I by mistake checked "use as default number" for one particular contact, but now I want to deactivate that selection and have no default number for that particular contact.
I know how to switch the default number from one to another; is there a way to deactivate the default number and just have the phone ask me which number to dial, e.g. home, office, mobile, etc.? I've been trying to tinker with everything I can to no avail, and I've also been shut out trying to answer this question online. Only thing I haven't done is call Verizon.
Is there a setting, app, etc. that will make the "dial pad" show by default when I make a phone call?
Basically, there are few numbers I dial that use an automated system and I'm required to press certain numbers to continue and I grow tired of selecting the number pad myself.
It's not as important on incoming calls, but would be nice there as well I guess.
I was using the facebook app and clicked a youtube video link and decided to make youtube the default app to launch for this specific action. However, I later decided that I want it to launch the link in a browser (so I can read comments) instead of playing instantly after clicking the link.
I tried "Clear defaults" under settings>applications>manage applications but there is no settings for youtube. I tried to clear defaults for facebook and my browser, and tried reinstalling the facebook app but no luck.
Trying to help a friend with his Droid. He downloaded a ringtone from the Verizon site and he is trying to set it up as his "RINGTONE". Can someone please walk me through this.

I've turned everything off in the Desire's default messages app, but it still continues to open the HTC message app. Also when I've sent an SMS & press back, it automatically goes to the HTC message app?? Will pressing 'Force Stop' in the manage applications section stop the HTC app, or will it stop everything to do with the SMS functionality? However, it is not only the system default, but it even opens links I click on in the Android provided browser (sometimes I both open). On your computer, when you click links in your non-default browser it doesn't send the links to the default one, and it shouldn't on this OS, either. Any ideas how to keep Dolphin as my system default browser, but not have it open links I click on in the Android web browser?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOut of curiosity could anyone with a Desire let me know if their SMS app settings are the same as mine Unbranded Desire on the Orange network.In 'Manage Applications' if I look at the stock HTC SMS app (Messages) the 'Launch by default' section is greyed out and says 'No defaults set'.Same thing when I look at the 'Application info' for Handcent.The problem this is causing me is that I can't set a 'default' SMS app in the GOTO lock screen app. A pop up should launch in the GOTO app asking me to set a default but it doesn't and so I can only use the stock SMS app with the GOTO lockscreen.Spoke to the developer about it and he thinks it's an issue specific to the Desire so out of curiosity I'm keen to know if other Desires have the same default settings as mine mentioned above.

Is there a way to change this default setting, to have it choose my Google Cal instead? > Gmail
> K9 email client
All three have been setup with email accounts.
Is there a way to set K9 as my preferred email app? Because everytime I receive an email, I get three sets of notifications (one from each app)
For the moment I've disabled the email notifications from Gmail and the default mail, but they still run in the background checking for messages which is really just a waste of CPU power and battery life.
Anything to keep them from running at all?
