Motorola Droid : Reset / Go Back To 2.0 After Rooting To 2.0.1?
Dec 9, 2009Not saying I want to do this, but can you revert back to 2.0 if you rooted your phone and went to 2.0.1? Just curious if anyone has tried this yet or not.

View 2 RepliesWell right now I have a rooted droid thanks to sholesmod and am running bugless beast 0.7.6 at 800. From what I Have read, it is supposed to be one of the fastest ROMs out there. Too be honest, I have almost noticed it to be slower then .7.5. So I have decided to completely erase everything and start completely from scratch. I was going to go back to stock 2.01 and then do a factory restore. Then I was going to reformat my sd card. Would that be the best route to go if I wanted to start from scratch?
View 4 Replies View Relatedim having problems with my phone and was going to take it to verizon to get a replacement So i was trying to do the reset back to 2.0.1. That way they cant see root. Well i get into recovery on phone. And the load up rsd. And the find the sbf. But i cant click start.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just rooted and will soon install a new ROM and kernel which I understand requires a factory reset. There are certain things I want to backup before doing and know of Titanium Backup and MyBackup but wasn't sure if one or the other could do everything I needed. This what I'd like backed up I think that covers everything. Can anyone tell me if either Titanium or MyBackup can do all of this? Anything else I should want backed up (that isn't already by Google) but not thinking of?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if there is a good or proper way to back up my apps before doing a factory reset? I'm not too worried about contacts as that should be saved ala google just have a lot of apps (all free) And hoping i dont have to go back and re-dl them all.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI currently have a rooted 2.0.1 Droid, and I was wondering if there's any advantage to "upgrading" to 2.1 and then rooting, or would that just get me back to where I started?
View 21 Replies View RelatedI've had my Moto Droid since it basically came out last Nov and I have never ever run into a problem with the phone until last night. I had a phone call and after I got off the phone, I noticed my droid reseted itself and it wasn't going back to the home screen. Meaning it would just display the word "Droid" then go right into the droid red eye screen, then right back to the word Droid and just kept repeating itself.
I took the battery out and put it back in, but it kept doing the same thing. I am really not sure what would cause my phone to do this, but the only new change I can think of was that I installed the "TMZ" application to my droid about 3 hours prior to this happening. But the application worked fine and I really hope it wasn't because of that. Is there anything I can do before going to Verizon? I would really hate giving up my phone with all my stuff in it, but I know theres probably not much I can do if I cant even get to the home screen.
I loaded the leaked 2.2 when it first became available and then deleted update.zip from the SDCard Directory. 2.2 worked fine.I reverted back to 2.1 in order to be able to get the OTA version of 2.2. Reverting worked fine.I rooted 2.1 using Universal Androot.I installed the following apps: Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, DroidXBootstrap,I did a nandroid backup using Bootstrap.Based on the reports I read today of the OTA 2.2, I decided to re-install the leaked 2.2 Using Root Explorer, I moved su from Bin to Xbin directory in order to preserve root status.I connected the Droid X to my laptop and copied Update.zip to the SDCard. Note that my SD card if almost full - only 25MB left after copying update.zip.I then booted, cleared cache and proceeded to run the update.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI should "root" my Droid X phone, something ive not heard of before -
1) does this void the manufacturer warranty, or the $6/month im paying for verizon accidental damage warranty
2) is there a way to restore the original settings on the phone, ie make it like the root never happened if i need to? so i dont lose warranty?
For the noobs What is the difference? And how do you do both?
So I installed the Evil Eris v3 thingamajig using the Rooting for dummies thread. But I wanna go back, so will a factory reset take care of that for me?

This is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
Just ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm roooted. I downloaded bootstrap and the first thing i did was create a nandroid back up for my x. then i proceeded to try and install tranquility rom. it got stuck in a bootloop. so when i rebooted into recovery it now goes for some reason to the droid stock recovery and i can't revert back to my back up. what do i do?!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm finding that I'm using the back button A LOT whether browsing the web or just navigating the OS. It kind of sucks because the buttons on the droid x are well, really small, and sometimes hard to press because they are so narrow and flimsy feeling. And depending on how you are holding the phone, it could be a good bit of distance for your thumb to travel or I'm finding myself having to reposition the phone in my hands just to reach the back button, which you seem to need very frequently.
Anyone know of any kind of back 'swipe' implementation ? Like some software you can install that makes it if you swipe left to right on maybe the top bar it goes back?
So I'm still fairly new to Android (Incredible's my first Android devide), and was skeptical about install the RUU (thanks for the guide, true!). But when I read that others who had used the OTA or update.zip sometimes had to do a factory reset as well, I figured using RUU wouldn't hurt. In fact I believe (IMO, which has no technical backing) that RUU may be better than OTA/update.zip, because like upgrading an OS on a computer, a fresh install is better that upgrading over a previous OS. Anyway enough of that. My biggest hang-up was backing-up my apps, contacts & text messages (realizing that settings couldn't be saved, no matter what I tried). Since I had never rooted/done anything with my Incredible prior to this, I was also worried about losing apps that I paid for. Now while the following may seem basic to most of you, I know I would have loved to have had this information prior to my RUU update, just to put my mind at ease. So, to anyone out there who's on the fence, check this out. This does not save 3rd party apps. If you have those, you'll need to back those up using ASTRO or App Monster* Before anything else, download AppBrain App Market (it's in the Market). Open the app, and click on "Manage my apps", then sign-in using your Gmail account. Once it's set, click on the "Sync with AppBrain" button on the bottom left side. Then, you can go to www.appbrain.com, log-in with your Gmail account there, and see all of your apps (under "My Apps" at the top) accounted for on your phone (this is also a great place to find new apps, but that's for a different time). Once you've basically accounted for all your apps on AppBrain, you're good to go with free apps.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC One running 4.3 and I've been having a lot of problems since the update. I'm about to do a factory reset to try and fix it, but I was wondering if there is a way I can back up app data (ex. my game saves) before doing so? I know how to do it through recovery, but my phone isn't rooted so I don't have any of those options available.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo this morning I was trying the battery trick where you turn it off while plugged in then turn it back on. I turned it off and then wasn't able to turn it back on, so I took it off the charger (wall outlet) and held down the power button. Phone turned back on but was in setup mode, everything was gone, settings email programs, everything. I decided to restart it one more time, everything came back.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHad my HTC Wildfire for about a month now and enjoyed it immensely. I've installed tons of apps and tried as much stuff as I could. Unfortunately now my phone has started restarting at random intervals. Middle of the night, at noon, you never know. This of course annoys me and I see no other option than to do a factory reset(If anyone has an idea what the cause could be I'd love to hear it.)But, having spent a month setting everything up just the way I like it, I squirm a bit when thinking about a factory reset. From what I understand all my apps can be redownloaded quite easily from the market - but what about those I didn't get from the market? Sounds like a lot of hassle potentially Also, contacts, Gmail/facebook linking, browser bookmarks, settings etc. - is there any way I can save all these for easy installation afterwards? I'm only thinking of a factory reset because of the restarts and because I feel the phone has become a little sluggish and I don't know what else to do to fix it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I get back to 1.22.605.2 without rooting? Is it possible? I have never rooted the phone but installed the interim leaked OTA from July that enabled HotSpot and 720 with new splash screen but now I can't install the 2.2 Update.zip.
View 25 Replies View RelatedIt seems a lot of us are having issues after upping to 2.2. Someone suggested hard reset. My question is simple, will hard reset "restore" EVO back to factory settings, AKA 2.1? I mean when you bought the phone, 2.1 is "baked" in the internal memory. When you update to 2.2, will 2.2 also be "baked" in internal memory so that whenever you hard reset you will always go to 2.2 status? I think it is, but please clarify?

View 13 Replies View RelatedIf I hard reset my phone, does that erase the SD card back to factory too? I need to know so I can backup everything on the sd to my desktop first if necessary. And one more question, how do I hard reset my phone to get it back to factory settings. Also, what will happen to my paid apps? I actually paid for Beautiful Widget and when I restore, I don't want to use the same Gmail to set up my contacts as before cuz that account gets too much spam.
