Since I've rooted I've been getting freeze ups and restarts at least 4 times a day. I'm running bb v .4 and chevyno1s ulv 1.0, could a switch to solve this?

After months without a random reboot, my phone did it twice consecutively today while I was trying to navigate while streaming music (Pandora) on the way from the airport this morning. It worked perfectly on the 1 hour drive there (also on the round trip going there the previous week), but while I was waiting for the guys I was picking up at the arrival gate, I was browsing the web and still streaming music and my phone just did a "soft" restart (where it doesn't show the Moto logo, just the boot animation). Slightly annoying. At least it gets to the launcher pretty quick still. Then, maybe 30 minutes later on the trip back, it does it again while I'm driving back. This time when it got back to the home screen, it refused to pick up any sort of cell signal like it was in airplane mode, but all the other radios were on (BT and satellite). Toggling airplane mode had no affect on it. So I had to totally reboot my phone to get it to work again. I think it may be heat related, when it came back up the first time, SetCPU read the CPU at 51�C/124�F and that was immediately after reboot, so it may have cooled down some during that. After the second reboot I brought the clock down to 800 MHz from 1.1 GHz and it was good for the rest of the trip. But I was running the exact same load/apps on it the last trip and the ambient temp in the car was the same. So I wanted to see if there some system log/app that can tell me what process forced the phone to reboot or maybe what the CPU temp was when it crashed, to rule out software. Is there anything like this? If not, does anyone know what the max temp the CPU can handle before it forces a reboot? I'm sure there's a threshold for this, just like there is for PCs (but usually they just throttle instead of shutting down), but I don't know what it is. I would think ~60�C would be way too damn hot for a CPU in a hand held device.

View 11 Replies View RelatedFor a few days I've been going through these forums attempting to find out why my Droid X would restart (Android + eye - soft restart) anytime I would receive and email or text message. I didn't find anything exactly like my occurrences, so if it is here, sorry for re-posting the same thing. It appears that when I installed a sound FX app and attempted to use one of the sounds from the downloaded app (scream) as my ringtone and/or notification sound. My phone would restart anytime I would receive a notification that would use the sound (except for phone calls, which reset my ringtone to a default ring?
I reset the sounds to default settings and it hasn't restarted since. I was wondering if anyone knew why this was occurring? I would really like to use this sound effect (at least for awhile). I have went to the developers site and it seems to be an older app for the android market and really no information on the sound FX app there. I put the title "Any notification restarts Droid X" because that is what I was trying to find to resolve the problem I had, and maybe it will be helpful for some one else.

I Rooted and installed Busybox Installer. Well After that my Tablet Rested it self and now it going to factory Defaults each time I turn it on.
-Whenever the Tab restarts it just looses all settings and starts like it is started for the first time, with all those first time tips and default settings. Even all apps are gone.
-All Apps suddenly vanished (Were installed in internal memmory, no sdcard used)
-If we try to install the app again using google Play, then google play hangs, does not install the app.
- If we go into settings->storage, the first internal storage shows 0.00Bytes
I tried to do: Factory Reset the device, Hard Reset the device, Restart insanely several times
I do have ADD installed but I don't know how to switch busybox over from /system/xbin and find busybox. Move it to /system/bin I can't Install Apps
Has anyone else had their milestone randomly reboot? This seems to have happened since 2.0.1 was installed. It has happened 3 times today and twice yesterday, prior to 2.0.1 there was no unexpected restarts.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an unlocked T-Mobile CLIQ and I'm using it in Canada (FIDO). I have 2 SIM cards that I've been testing with the CLIQ. On one phone SIM, the phone works perfectly fine no complaints (in fact, its quite a good phone). However, on my 2nd SIM card, the phone has problems picking up a signal, so it spends most of its time on Emergency Call Only and then to add insult to injury, the phone will automatically restart after several minutes. I have a hard time believing that a SIM card can cause this phone to mess up but I can't explain how it works for one SIM, but not for another?

I told tmobile that and she said it could be my SIM so I get a new one and that doesn't help. I'm about ready to call them and get a new one through my warranty.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm getting a weird problem. I'm transferring files from my computer to my droid. Now I think it may be my computer that is causing the main issue here. The transfer will just freeze in the middle of something and I have to reboot my computer to get a USB mount option back on my phone.
Last time though the freeze got so bad that I couldn't get my phone to actually power off. So I had to remove the battery while it was powered on. Does this sound like a phone issue that I should bring back to verizon? Or more a computer issue.
I don't know if anyone else had these problem before.. But i was on my phone talking to my GF.. For about 15 min.. And all of a sudden my phone freezes and restarts.Then a black screen shows up after the android boot comes up .. and says " No Service" in white letters.Then my phone restarts again and its working fine.. But anyone else had the same problem.Its the first time..

I most certainly did not slam it down or anything.....just set it there gently like always. Also, I noticed that when my X is on the charger, every now and then it will freeze up and reboot itself.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI started rooting on SPRecovery with Nandroid and all was lovely, then I decided to start using ROM Manager. After the first time I got the repeating M start up. I then flashed it back to stock and got all of my stuff back. My only problem is that now the Android Home crashes anytime it starts, though Launcher Pro is fine and working awesomely. I also can't bring up recovery, it shows the phone with the gigantic "!" over it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo this morning, the alarm goes off on my Droid2 and everything is fine. About an hour later the screen froze and would not unlock or slide. It was absolutely frozen. I was using the stock charger last night. I took it by a Verizon store and the rep pulled the battery and then it started back up with no problem. The big problem is he took ATK (free pre installed version) and killed all the apps and proceeded to tell me how I had to do this. I said "dude, their was nothing running last night and I have not even downloaded any new apps, etc..." I just got the phone on Friday of last week. I really am not a fan of ATK and he tried to tell me if I don't do this, the phone will freeze.
View 7 Replies View RelatedYesterday I rooted my phone and flashed BB 0.7.5 and I've had my phone completely freeze up, can't receive calls, buttons wont respond and I have to pull my battery to reboot the phone. I'm not sure what exactly is causing it, and it has only happened twice so far (both today). I wanted to ask if anyone else has had this happen. I have a nandroid backup of right before I flashed the ROM, should I roll back and try again or use a different ROM?

Battery is full...when the screen goes into standby is when it seems to have problems. Just started happening around 10:00am today. Anyone else having issues?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo about three weeks ago I switched from ATT iPhone to Verizon DX.Couldn't have been happier, I've been an ATT network apologist for years, and I am eating my words with gusto.Also, absolutely love the android. Now, the first DX they gave me would freeze on the motorola screen when I would turn it off (wait a couple few minutes) and turn it back on. I would have to do a battery pull and wait at least an hour to put the battery back in and turn it on in order to get it to boot. Brought it in, got a new one. This one starts up just fine every time, but I'm having two noticeable problems so far.
1 - It is waaaay slower than the first DX I had. I was so impressed/happy with the responsiveness of that first phone. Absolutely no lag anywhere, no lag on the unlock bar, no lag opening apps, scrolling through contacts, nothing. Now I'm getting very choppy lag on the unlock, contacts, apps, facebook and googlemaps will stop responding, etc...
2 - When I try to open the battery manager usage statistics, it gives me an error "The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly.
I have looked through some other lag threads on here, and have tried turning off animations, changing to performance mode, neither having any real effect.My settings and apps are identical to the first phone (neither rooted by the way), what happened here?
After the update and with the leak I had only does this on hd it will freeze for a split second once or twice during playback anyone else try this?

I had attempted to also let it do the 2.1 update but it continually gets stuck on the M and won't proceed past that, so I again put the 2.01 sbf file on, and let the phone get to the "touch the droid to begin" screen.The phone has the original recovery on it, the box and explanation mark, no SPRecovery or clockwork.Can Verizon tell at this point that the phone was previously routed and charge me full price for the replacement?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy droids battery life has been miserable and overall the phone has been acting pretty flaky lately. I recently went back to rooted 2.0.1 after running the cyanagen rom. I re enabled OTA and want to just try stock 2.1 for now and see if it fixes my problems before I take it into verizon. After I enabled OTA's it downloaded the file and asked if I wanted to install the update which I said yes to. Phone shut down and restarted and ended up on the Clockwork Recovery screen. I said to reboot and the phone just comes back up in a rooted 2.0.1 version still. It says its running 2.0.1 and the system is up to date.Whats the easiest way to get to 2.1 and unroot? Help please!
