View 3 RepliesHey guys I remember on my iPhone I used to be able to split up video while sending a text with video attached to a friend. It would say video is too long and let you choose a portion that would be able to send. Is there an app or maybe I'm missing something because I am using Handscent for texting.

Apparently, the Android system groups these together; I can assign a different tone for regular email, but not gmail, as the Android system groups them under "notifications." Is there an app out there for this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm getting a weird problem. I'm transferring files from my computer to my droid. Now I think it may be my computer that is causing the main issue here. The transfer will just freeze in the middle of something and I have to reboot my computer to get a USB mount option back on my phone.
Last time though the freeze got so bad that I couldn't get my phone to actually power off. So I had to remove the battery while it was powered on. Does this sound like a phone issue that I should bring back to verizon? Or more a computer issue.
I just set my phone down on my desk only to have that evil red eye staring back at me. Phone rebooted itself somehow. I most certainly did not slam it down or anything.....just set it there gently like always. Also, I noticed that when my X is on the charger, every now and then it will freeze up and reboot itself.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI started rooting on SPRecovery with Nandroid and all was lovely, then I decided to start using ROM Manager. After the first time I got the repeating M start up. I then flashed it back to stock and got all of my stuff back. My only problem is that now the Android Home crashes anytime it starts, though Launcher Pro is fine and working awesomely. I also can't bring up recovery, it shows the phone with the gigantic "!" over it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSo this morning, the alarm goes off on my Droid2 and everything is fine. About an hour later the screen froze and would not unlock or slide. It was absolutely frozen. I was using the stock charger last night. I took it by a Verizon store and the rep pulled the battery and then it started back up with no problem. The big problem is he took ATK (free pre installed version) and killed all the apps and proceeded to tell me how I had to do this. I said "dude, their was nothing running last night and I have not even downloaded any new apps, etc..." I just got the phone on Friday of last week. I really am not a fan of ATK and he tried to tell me if I don't do this, the phone will freeze.
View 7 Replies View RelatedYesterday I rooted my phone and flashed BB 0.7.5 and I've had my phone completely freeze up, can't receive calls, buttons wont respond and I have to pull my battery to reboot the phone. I'm not sure what exactly is causing it, and it has only happened twice so far (both today). I wanted to ask if anyone else has had this happen. I have a nandroid backup of right before I flashed the ROM, should I roll back and try again or use a different ROM?

Battery is full...when the screen goes into standby is when it seems to have problems. Just started happening around 10:00am today. Anyone else having issues?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo about three weeks ago I switched from ATT iPhone to Verizon DX.Couldn't have been happier, I've been an ATT network apologist for years, and I am eating my words with gusto.Also, absolutely love the android. Now, the first DX they gave me would freeze on the motorola screen when I would turn it off (wait a couple few minutes) and turn it back on. I would have to do a battery pull and wait at least an hour to put the battery back in and turn it on in order to get it to boot. Brought it in, got a new one. This one starts up just fine every time, but I'm having two noticeable problems so far.
1 - It is waaaay slower than the first DX I had. I was so impressed/happy with the responsiveness of that first phone. Absolutely no lag anywhere, no lag on the unlock bar, no lag opening apps, scrolling through contacts, nothing. Now I'm getting very choppy lag on the unlock, contacts, apps, facebook and googlemaps will stop responding, etc...
2 - When I try to open the battery manager usage statistics, it gives me an error "The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly.
I have looked through some other lag threads on here, and have tried turning off animations, changing to performance mode, neither having any real effect.My settings and apps are identical to the first phone (neither rooted by the way), what happened here?
Head anybody else been dealing with voice to text freezing a lot? It seems to freeze up about 30% of the time for me. It's not application specific, and, as far as I can tell, it's pretty much random.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone (droid x), and then installed bootstrap + Rom Manager. I downloaded REVOlution, and then I got to recovery, I clicked reboot, and it always FREEZES at the M sign. Then I looked up other forum posts on this site, and so I ended up deleting cache, going to factory reset etc... and I still can't get back to my screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo, I've been having issues with my Droid X (this is my second, my first bricked during the 2.2 upgrade.) It's fairly reproducible, and I want to know if it's just me or if everyone's experiencing this. It generally happens when I have the phone in the car dock, It's connected to my stereo for phone and A2DP via bluetooth and music is playing, though my mom (who just got a droid X) called me yesterday to say it was happening when she was listening to music on her way to New York and she was pretty frustrated. Basically, what it boils down to is music playback starts getting choppy, the phone gets warmer than average running temperature (though not horribly hot) and eventually music playback stops. While double-tapping the home button still opens that 'say a command' voice prompt, the screen takes forever to draw and the phone runs sluggish as hell. Other than that, the screen is unresponsive, the home button doesn't actually do anything, and the only way to get the phone out of this state is a battery pull. This particularly sucks because I've gotten used to using my phone as my in-car music player AND for navigation so since it is so frequently going down in the middle of driving places I can't really rely on it anymore. It may just be my device, too. When it's plugged into some computers in my house, the bottom half of the touch screen becomes unresponsive. When I brought it to the Verizon store to get it replaced, the incompetent rep basically determined that since I'm running LauncherPro, my device must be rooted and refused to honor my warranty. I'm getting pretty fed up with Verizon. I'm on my 8th replacement phone from the first droid I got (3 droid erises, 3 motorola droids, 2 droid X's) and not a single one has worked as advertised.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSometimes with the home or back button not responding at times? Kind of like a freeze where u have to press the buttons a couple of times then they will respond. Also, have you noticed that sometimes that pressing the power button will not wake the phone up? And when my phone call ends, it takes a while for the screen to come back from black so I can end the call. Should I get an exchange for my phone or are these issues supposed to be resolved with the update coming?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs the Droid capable of recording video with an external stereo mic (Sony ECM-MS957)? I was thinking about getting the Kodak Zi8, but hey, if the Droid can do it then I'll save the $200.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have not taken a lot of video with my Droid (I have Flip for that), and what I do take, I just watch on the phone. But, I may eventually want to play this on my computer or on my TV using a streaming media device. My current device plays a LOT of formats, but I have not tried any of my Droid videos. What format does the Droid capture video in? Is it the 3gp I have heard about? If so, I think that is one format I can't play where I want it. I heard that my wife's Incredible actually records in mp4, but then converts to 3gp, but there is something you can install which prevents that conversion and keeps it in mp4. Is there something like that for the Droid?
i have a question,since this is very helpful for me using this mode,is there any possible way of having the flash on(led)while recording a video on a droid(verizon)?Or is there an app or a hack,or what does need to be done for this to happen?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to zoom while video recording?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI did not see any other open threads on this; there is a very simple system edit you can perform to record video @ 8 mbps, up from the default 3 mbps. This is from a reliable source. Works very well. Root access is required and, of course, be sure to backup everything before you try anything.
The Droid compresses recorded videos (which results in blurriness and some blocking), so today I started poking around the system files and found this line in build.prop:
Code:
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.bps=3000000
Which basically means video is compressed at a fixed rate of 3Mbps. I didn't think it would work, but I went ahead and changed the value to 8Mbps:
Code:
ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.bps=8000000
Rebooted and shot a test video. Lo and behold, the video is now recorded at 8mbps, resulting in a MUCH crisper image!
To apply the fix, you need root access. Simply edit that line in your /system/build.prop file. You can pull the file from adb, edit it, and push it back, or mount the /system partition as read-write and edit the file with Astro.
Edit: For the more adventurous users, here's another tip: I've been tinkering with the rest of the video settings in build.prop and comparing the resulting videos. So far, the best setting I have found is actually using MPEG-4 SP instead of H.264, 8 Mbps bitrate, and 30 frames per second. The phone chokes at 30 fps in H.264 mode, but does a pretty good job with MPEG-4 SP, and at that bitrate, the image quality is still very good regardless of the codec. The pertinent settings are "ro.media.enc.hprof.codec.vid" for the codec ("h264" for H.264 and "m4v" for MPEG-4 SP) and "ro.media.enc.hprof.vid.fps" (you can choose anything from 1 to 30)
