I've been having a lot of trouble with my phone running slower and lagging at the homescreen. I looked at memory usage and ShapeWriter uses a ton of a resources. Been running much smoother sine disabling it.

Does anyone know if it's possible to put a faster processor in the motorola droid? ie: a snapdragon processor, a droid 2 chip, etc?...or maybe an amoled screen? or does it not work that way?

I see people talking about "overclocking" help me understand how this works. All my friends who have "jailbroken" their iphones have made their phones noticeably slower and laggier. I wont root my droid if this is the same case.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've pretty much spent the entire weekend installing and uninstalling 2.2 on my droid. This afternoon I got it setup so that it was running SUPER smooth.Before 2.2 my Quadrant score was about 605 (running BB1.1 oc to 1ghz). With 2.2 I was getting about 1200 in quadrant (oc'ed at 1ghz as well).I then compared my phone with my brothers (his is setup exactly how mine was before 2.2) and while my phone was a bit snappier scrolling through home screens and opening the app drawer, when it came to opening programs - his droid opened the programs faster than mine did.What is that all about? Anyone have any thoughts? Both phones were freshly rebooted.

So it makes me wonder, what the hell was the phone busy doing before this update? Sending data back to Google somehow? Because the speed increase I see isn't just a 10% increase, I mean it seems at least 25% faster...
Like every one here I want my phone to operate at it's optimal speed. But I really don't know what makes this phone fast. Why are there different quadrant scores on stock phones? Does running certain programs slow this phone down? I know that without rooting the phone the processer can't be over clocked, and when I had 2.1 rooted I had SetCPU installed, and you didn't have the ability to overclock the phone anyway. I guess I don't understand why someone reports a Quadrant score of 1450, and someone running the same platform reports 1350. Not that I think you would know the difference between the two.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI've been using ADW because I like the easy cookie cutter themes but I notice it lags sometimes when switching between screens and sometimes icons and widgets will disappear then reappear as the screens load. I tried the free version of Launcher Pro and as I was setting up the screens it felt like it was smoother. But that could have been because I didn't have anything on them yet. I know most people here use Launcher Pro - is it because it is faster or smoother? I can almost get away with using the free version but I need to be able to resize widgets.

AMAZING CHOICE this phone is amazing but i see people with there linpack and quadrant scores and thats alot better then mine i have mine Over Clocked and Rooted is there any way to speed it up? Also i did install froyo leak but it didnt let me use my camera and the market not working right. I just went back to my original 2.1 with the sbf Sadly the market still isent working right.

I would assume Assisted GPS doesn't affect much because the CDMA antenna needs to be on for the phone to communicate anyway. But the Wifi might affect the life more because that antenna isn't normally on when using the phone.
I noticed in city areas with tall buildings the GPS seems to have a very hard time locking on.
I have the original Droid. Love it. Thinking of getting the Droid X. One question. How is the shutter compared to the original? Im satisfied with the pic quality from posted samples. But the original has a noticeable lag when taking one pic to the next making quick shots and successive shots not very practicable. Specially since it makes moving subjects blurry. Does the Droid X camera take faster pics then the original?

Noticeably lagging are the widgets on that screen (GMail Unread Count x2, Agenda Widget, power control). I figure this is because these widgets are killed when using other programs to free memory. Is this the case? If so, is there anything I can do to change that since I am now rooted?

I had shapewriter on my old phone and I loved it. Now that I'm back to the standard keyboard its killing me. Since shapewriter is now off the market I can't redownload the app. Is there any way to get shapewriter off my old phone onto the new one? Or is there anyone that has another suggestion? Any help would be appreciated.

I have seen many, many Moto Droid commercials that the "DROID" sound makes me look at my phone all the time. Just seems like they want to clear their inventory in prep for some faster and newer phones beyond the incredible.

After installing, form the home screen I press menu, settings, language & keyboard and click either swype or shape-writer.However, when I use an application like G mail, or the web browser, the droid default keyboard is displayed rather the swype or shape-writer,Any suggestions on where I need to adjust settings so that the default keyboard is either swype or shape-writer?I have used swype in the past and it worked great, unitil the beta expired. I just downloaded the new beta from the swype.com site. Just can't make it the default though.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy droid x signal pretty much always between -92dBm and -87dBm with 1-3 3g bars. My former droid eris would get -92dBm with 1 bar and also drain incredibly fast.
On the droid x, if I go into google maps, the circle of the cell tower appears and the place I live at is half way within the edge of the circle and the other half is outside of the circle. I always seem to be connected to this tower. Bad luck I guess that I'm on the outskirts of the circle.
Does anyone know how cell towers are distributed? Do they overlap sometimes?
I run pandora with the screen off for a half hour with the screen off and my battery is down to 70%. I have about 15% screen brightness and battery saving mode on.
yesterday, I was on meebo for an hour and 45 minutes and it was down to 60% from a full charge.
Dont get me wrong, the QWERTY keyboard is sick, and I love it. But after typing on the keyboard for while, I wanted to switch it up, so I tried the on screen key pad. And to my surprise, the on screen keyboard appears to be much quicker than using the QWERTY!

View 7 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the oclf, rooted and its all working nicely. Tested on quadrant and got this big sexy bar right at the top. Phone seems a little faster for sure. But if u use quadrant advanced u can see that CPU speed isn't really changing much if at all. Its i/o that is increasing and giving us these huge scores. Whatever that is. So are there further steps I can take to speed up my phone.
Is oclf actually overclocking my phone or just giving it another file system which speeds up processing slightly? I also use launcherpro which seems to help a bit for home screen navigating and such. But I am looking for a real noticeable boost. I know some of the ROMs out there are pretty fast as well but I am a little reluctant to remodel my phone much more with froyo supposedly on the horizon.
My quadrant is 920 and i have seen people with 2000+ quadrant. How can i get those stats?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android and rooting. I have a Galaxy S and love it! I didn't even know what rooting was. I just came across it after looking for ways to make my phone faster. After a while I realized my phone speed slowed down and was looking for the reason behind it. That's when I learned rooting is the answer. So I used the One Click method and everything is fine so far.
My Kernel is 2.6.29 root@SE-S602 #2 and Baseband is XXJF3 (2.1). So I went into my apps and saw the superuser permission app. But it doesn'thttp://android.bigresource.com/add/add.php work! It is just a blacked out screen. So I am not sure where to go from here. I have tried searching for an answer but couldn't find one, just guides how to root. How to make my phone faster from this point? I get confused with all these ROM things! Which is the best ROM? MoDaCo? Is there a Froyo version of it?
I have a HTC wildfire phone and even though i do enjoy it i find it to be very very slow and i have tried multiple things such as keeping my text messages to a maximum of 20 before deleting. Trying to delete unnesesary apps and junk off my phone. But it still runs slow, so i have joined this android forum seeking help. I can purchase a new phone an iphone 4 or HTC desire but i like my HTC wildfire and i enjoy the android operating system, the Wildfire's camera is amazing and the only thing i want to be able to do is make it faster. Will upgrading my SD card make the phone run faster?
