Just read this from another thread thought root users would like to know you can save your screen setups now. I figured this will save me about 30 minutes each time I change a rom. I tried it out and it worked great. With all the ROM's I like to try this will make me change from L.P.

Just starting to play around with the new X. I tried the car dock on my first trip with nav without having the charging cable plugged in. Nav seemed to stay on the turn-by-turn screen just fine, except that the screen kept timing out (as expected running on battery). Today I also plugged in a charging cable. Nav started out working fine, but then several times during my trip the X inexplicably switched away from the turn-by-turn screen to the directions screen (or to the "maps" top-down screen). I didn't see anything in the options, and can't imagine why the thing would be switching. Also, I just updated to the latest Google Maps application (last night, between the two nav tests), so maybe that had something to do with it....
View 46 Replies View RelatedI've been using ADW because I like the easy cookie cutter themes but I notice it lags sometimes when switching between screens and sometimes icons and widgets will disappear then reappear as the screens load. I tried the free version of Launcher Pro and as I was setting up the screens it felt like it was smoother. But that could have been because I didn't have anything on them yet. I know most people here use Launcher Pro - is it because it is faster or smoother? I can almost get away with using the free version but I need to be able to resize widgets.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust had an issue today with the phone after I got off of NYC Maximas.org and went back to the home screen. The phone decided to have a mind of its own and was actually switching between screens itself. Every time I hit the home button it would switch to screen 2 and three and so on and so on. Also when I tried to text right after that I was unable to input text for w.e. reason. After a shut off and turn on of the phone the issue was resolved; "weird". Anyone else having this problem?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create an app for android 1.5 which would be organized around 4-5 'screen's that will be changing in a given order.
So I start ma app with the first screen, which it's background and a button. When I click on the button a new screen appears with a different background and different options which lead to next screens. Sth. that is usually seen in games. The problem is that I need to pass a lot of data between those 'screens' like and array with recorded sound. My idea was to create a separate xml layout file for each screen and change the context in the activity class so ie:

A simple test app for 3 screens works this way but my I don't really like this approach and it seems to be inappropriate.
Is this the correct way of organizing such an app in android or should I take another approach - if I should, please give a more detailed advice on how to do this.
My phone keeps switching between the home screens by itself!

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo what is going on after the last update? My phone randomly freaks out at times and starts switching screens and stuff on it's own. Seems like it is possessed. Never did this before the update...and a friend of mine is having the same problem with their Incredible. Also at times I try to go back to the home screen and the screen goes completely black for a bit....then will eventually go to it. When it freaks out the only thing I can do is restart it and then it will work fine until the next time it freaks out.

So my question is: WHen I install launcherpro and set it as default launcher, should I uninstall adw.launcher to have better performance? And if yes, are my settings and homescreens kept when I want to switch back to adw.launcher some time? I read about performance issues here somewhere, when adw.launcher with 5 full homescreens is running in background and somewhere, people stated one should remove all widgets from the homescreen before switching to a new launcher.

I've tried to change SCREEN_COUNT in launcher.java and add codes like <include android:id="@+id/cell4" ... /> to launcher.xml, but it didn't work. My emulator screen resolution is 800*480.

Is there way to save my screens and then start from scratch? Or do I need to save it then remove all my widgets and start again that way? Well after downloading next Launcher I tried to set up my home screens with the same widgets I had on the stock launcher with no luck. It tells me there is a problem with the widgets tap to reload. I love CM7. I run it on my Droid Incredible and I wouldn't want to run any other ROM, but since I have the paid versions of both ADW and Launcher Pro I don't have any need for the free version of ADW that comes packed with CM7. I found a mod that replaces ADW with the default Gingerbread launcher, and I've found that I prefer the stock launcher over any of the replacements I've tried. It's fast, minimal, and it just works. My only problem is that launcher2 only has five home screens, and I want seven. A Google search brought me to a version of the stock launcher with seven home screens, and I was able to install it on the latest CM7 nightly, but whenever I pressed the phone icon I got an error message telling me that "this application is not installed on your phone". I tried the launcher on both OMGB and OMFGB with the same results. Is there a version of the stock Gingerbread launcher out there that I can use on CM7 that has seven home screens and a working phone shortcut?

I'd like to change the wallpaper on this screen without it also changing the wallpaper on the stock launcher. Currently when I try to set the wallpaper on nova, it also changes the wallpaper on the stock launcher (I have a feeling the solution might involve the use of Multipicture Live wallpaper). View 3 Replies View RelatedI've pretty much spent the entire weekend installing and uninstalling 2.2 on my droid. This afternoon I got it setup so that it was running SUPER smooth.Before 2.2 my Quadrant score was about 605 (running BB1.1 oc to 1ghz). With 2.2 I was getting about 1200 in quadrant (oc'ed at 1ghz as well).I then compared my phone with my brothers (his is setup exactly how mine was before 2.2) and while my phone was a bit snappier scrolling through home screens and opening the app drawer, when it came to opening programs - his droid opened the programs faster than mine did.What is that all about? Anyone have any thoughts? Both phones were freshly rebooted.

So it makes me wonder, what the hell was the phone busy doing before this update? Sending data back to Google somehow? Because the speed increase I see isn't just a 10% increase, I mean it seems at least 25% faster...
Like every one here I want my phone to operate at it's optimal speed. But I really don't know what makes this phone fast. Why are there different quadrant scores on stock phones? Does running certain programs slow this phone down? I know that without rooting the phone the processer can't be over clocked, and when I had 2.1 rooted I had SetCPU installed, and you didn't have the ability to overclock the phone anyway. I guess I don't understand why someone reports a Quadrant score of 1450, and someone running the same platform reports 1350. Not that I think you would know the difference between the two.

AMAZING CHOICE this phone is amazing but i see people with there linpack and quadrant scores and thats alot better then mine i have mine Over Clocked and Rooted is there any way to speed it up? Also i did install froyo leak but it didnt let me use my camera and the market not working right. I just went back to my original 2.1 with the sbf Sadly the market still isent working right.

I would assume Assisted GPS doesn't affect much because the CDMA antenna needs to be on for the phone to communicate anyway. But the Wifi might affect the life more because that antenna isn't normally on when using the phone.
I noticed in city areas with tall buildings the GPS seems to have a very hard time locking on.
I've been having a lot of trouble with my phone running slower and lagging at the homescreen. I looked at memory usage and ShapeWriter uses a ton of a resources. Been running much smoother sine disabling it.
