View 49 RepliesFirst Droid Eris update makes the slow OTA rollout starting tonight - Doesn't say anything about battery fix yet
View 49 Replies View RelatedI've had my Droid X since launch and been lurking here for awhile, I haven't had any real issues until now though...
Yesterday, my droid x started randomly opening the camera application without anyone or anything even touching the phone. It's maddeningly frustrating. It wakes the phone up when the screen is off, which kills the battery faster, it randomly pops up when I'm web browsing or writing a text. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, was there a fix other than taking the phone back to verizon? I haven't gotten the phone wet or dropped it or anything.
my third biggest use of my Droid is as an MP3 player. I have roughly 9 GB of music on it. I'm using (and enjoying) MixZing (paid). A couple of problems so far, not necessarily anything to do with the app;Years ago I made the Gawd-awful mistake of eagerly ripping my entire CD collection onto my brand new XP OSed laptop-in WMP format!. I knew absolutely nothing at that time, and didn't even have an MP3 player.Well, now I have a rather tremendous chunk of music that is comprised mostly of this collection and about 33% from fragments downloaded off of file sharing programs. These "fragments" are usually in MP3 format, but some idiot has usually altered the tag info, mis-spelling authors, mis-assigning albums, etc, making the tag info nearly useless. All of this makes for one hell of a mess of a music library for MixZing to try to comb through. It won't even display album art for me, but I don't know if it's because most of the music is WMP or because much of the music has screwed up tag data.So I'm starting over, complete, from scratch. I'm dragging out that big ole box of CDs, and I'm going to burn them on my PC, and build my Droid library correctly, from the ground up.

"Please help" "What do I do" titled threads that give no clue about the thread content. If you want people to take notice let them know what the thread is about. Yea, eventually I will check out a thread titled "Oh No!" (morbid curiosity) but my first pick is one with a title that catches my interest. This has been a public service announcement. The thread titles have been changed to protect the innocent.

I can only assume that its eating away battery trying to see how is online and not. I certainly don't need this info unless I wish to go online myself... in which case I would actually go into the gtalk app.
ANyways, obviously i've been killing it in the running services, but it just comes back all on its own. ANy idea why or how to stop it?
Tried a search but couldn't find anything similar to what's been happening to my phone since I updated to FroYo on Sunday.Update went through fine on Sunday afternoon. On Monday morning at about 5am I heard my phone go off, picked it up in a sleepy haze and noticed the white "Quietly Brilliant" HTC screen, as if it has rebooted itself. Keyed in my security code and thought nothing of it, went back to sleep. Phone good as gold all day - no further issues on Monday. This morning, at around 4am, it did the same - re-started in the night, woke me up with a chime and the bright white screen. Keyed in the code, went back to sleep. Did the same at about 5am. The battery is currently about half full, so I don't think it's an issue there.I bought the phone about 2 weeks ago and didn't have any issues til I updated. The only setting I changed witin the phone was to have a security code set up for when it comes off standby. I've installed a couple of games since then too.Can anyone help? I'm going to turn my security code off and see what happens tonight, but has anyone else had this problem since the update?
I did notice a small icon in the top bar, sort of looked like an eye, but to be honest I was too sleepy to press it to find out what it was and it's now gone. No apps running on the phone, just WiFi, Bluetooth etc. Auto-update is set to on, which makes me think it's updating something? But why the re-boot?I don't mind it re-starting if it's meant to, it's just the fact it wakes me up at silly o'clock.
I bought a x10 mini pro this week and the same day the phone arrived i updated to 2.1 with SE PC Companion software.
I didnīt noticed if this happens to 1.6 duo to the short usage of this droid version.
Every time i starts the camera application or any application that uses the camera (like Google goggles for example), the phone aparently crashes and suddenly reboot. After the reboot, the camera used to work for the first times but about aprox 30 min. or less that the phone has been rebooted, when i try to start the camera, the phone crashes and restarts again.
Iīve tried to Repair the phone in pc Companion software and the issue continues the same.
Got a problem since 2.2 thats bugging me and draining battery life, in 2.1 I'd used Advanced Task Killer to kill all Apps I did'nt want which was fine, more often than not it was just Apps i'd manually started that popped up for killing. Now I find in 2.2 that theres Apps that start running without me even opening them and sometimes its 7-8 Apps at once which cant be good for battery life (and I've noticed a drop in that). Anyone else finding this? Anyway to stop apps Automatically starting once I connect to the Internet for example? as alot of them pop up after I do that, but other times the phones on idle and I select ATK and theres some appeared on it, last thing I want to do is check ATK every 10mines just to save battery.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo, I've been having issues with my Droid X and downloads in the Market not starting, I've had to do a few data resets to fix the problem. I recently called Verizon complaining and they sent me out a replacement Droid X. The first app that I installed was Launcher Pro and then downloaded quite a few more apps. A few hours later I tried download more apps and they have again gotten stuck on "starting download". I called Verizon tech support and explained what was going on, he then proceeded to tell me that he can guarantee that Launcher Pro is the cause of the problems and that I need to delete it. He claims that it does not work properly with the X. I told him that I got an X on July 1 and did not have a problem with the Market until recently and he again said that LP is causing the problem. Has anyone else heard of this, it makes no sense at all.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a quick question.
My friend bricked his DX with the Deodexing or whatever. After an sbf flash..
Can we update to 2.2 via update.zip in recovery, install rom manager, and then install MY backup on his phone? I'm currently uploading them to file hosting, and wondering if this would work.
If so, will he be fully rooted, deodexed, and themed(I'm rocking the xtreme 2.2 theme)?
Is the camera any faster at starting in 2.1 is there anyway to speed up the start of the 2.0.1 camera?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo one of the cool things about Froyo is being able to check off Enable Automatic Update for market apps. So i have that checked off for like 80+% of my 80+ apps (that took a while to do let me tell you). Now i have had three apps have updates available since i checked off the box, yet they never actually automatically updated. I waited, hours, still never updated. Is there a setting i need to modify? Do i need to tell it what time of day to do it? Anyone else noticing this? I only really want it in apps that i don't care about reading the new features. But it is annoying that i have it enabled and it does nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm starting a blog, and my first article is on swype.I was putting the download links in for themed, lite, and full but I can't find some. If you don't mind, can you tell me what you think of the blog and post the DL links as a comment.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI looked through another thread that was asking the the same question but i didnt seem to find any answers or solutions, so i decided to revisit the problem has anyone noticed that some applications just seem to start themselves up and run in the background? I have the advanced task killer, and this morning i did a reboot of the phone (coming from blackberry storm1, rebooting is just who i am, i do it every 2-3 weeks) and i would expect some applications to start themselves up on a system startup, no problems there. So i open the ATK and i kill any apps that i know i will not be using anytime soon, which is most of them. anywho, after that i literally dont use my phone at all... i lock it and it has been in my pocket since i left the house. yet, just now, i open up my task killer just to check what is running, and my music, my voice dialer, my calender, and a bunch of other applications are just running... whats up with that?
I have read others saying that the apps running in the background dont take up much memory... i call bs... before i kill the excess apps, i notice my free memory (at top of ATK) is around 30mb. after i kill the apps, im back up to 55mb+ so, please, has anyone found a solution to this problem?
In my manifest file, I have given the application name as MyApp and the name of the starting activity as Main Menu.code...
When I see the app icon in the default menu screen of android, the name shown is Main Menu. Why is MyApp not the name shown for the app?
When I boot my Eris, I have noticed many unneccesary programs open, some in which I never use at all...I found this information in Advanced Task Manager by the way. How do I disable programs from starting up on my Droid Eris?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI loaded ATK onto 2.1 which tells me that more apps are running than the built in proc manager does. So I killed everything except clock. Put the phone to sleep, and came back an hour later to find that Clock, Voice Dialer, MP3 Store, Settings, Shopper, Google Voice, Mail, Messages, chompSMS, and Handcent are all running.
Now, I have sent/received a few texts, so that'd explain the messages, chomp and handcent (still screwing with figuring out which one I want, but only Chomp is set to notify).
This is the third time I've done this today, so can confirm it's no accident. I have never used the MP3 app, don't even have any music on the phone, so no idea why that or for that matter, Voice Dialer, Shopper, or Mail are even running. I've never launched any of them.
I have OTA with root and today i tried to update an app and it never downloads I've tried other apps and I get the same error and i was wondering if any one with the ota is having this problem or if it's just my phone. For me it just gets stuck on starting download.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUnlike our US counterpart (Motorola Droid) the European Motorola Milestone/ users are not currently given any updates at all. The update server does not respond, as such we are stuck with 2.0 and with well known documented problems. Some of which make the device not usable.

View 15 Replies View RelatedFrom BGR after the Motorola Press Conference at CES..All Motorola Android handsets, including the CLIQ, will be updated to Android 2.1.Motorola is working on Flash 10.1 integration, is optimized for the DROID's chipset and will be pushed out the DROID at some time in the future.Motorola DROID will receive a second maintenance update in the near future..Motorola kept is short and sweet so that is all folks!
Heres hoping for sooner rather than later. Only thing that concerns me about soon is the fact that the last statement just says maintenance update in the near future. So im kinda thinking 2.1 wont be with it on the 22nd.
