Motorola Droid :: Touchdown Vs Remote Web Access

Jan 22, 2010

Can someone please help me understand the advantage of using Touchdown to manage my corporate emails, calendar and contacts? We are running on Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 (on Small Business Server 2008). The phones that are using activesync in our office have to enter a password every time they are brought out of screen saver or sleep mode. This is very annoying and I don't want this. I am currently connecting via my company's Outlook remote web access, not directly to the server. No password entry required. So far, this is working for me. Updates to emails, contacts and calendar are immediate. Emails arrive on the phone typically before they appear in my Outlook. Now, what I am looking for in the way of improvements:

1.Adding a signature to my emails (required for FINRA and SEC compliance).
2. Fixing contacts so they are listed by last name. They are currently in first name order when viewed on the DROID (not in Outlook).
3.Ability to accept meeting invites this is a minor issue.

Motorola Droid :: No Vibrate Alert Since Touchdown Update

Feb 1, 2010

After the Touchdown update I can't get any of my notifications to vibrate for either email or SMS. The phone will still vibrate. I emailed Touchdown and they said that they have heard some things about the vibrate issue but have not been able to duplicate the problems, he recommended a reboot which after two times has not done anything to help the situation. I have to have the vibrate settings for work so I'm screwed without them.

Motorola Droid X :: Using Touchdown Exchange For Gmail Account

Just wondering if there are any tips or suggestions for using "Touchdown" exchange in place of the Gmail account, especially to avoid getting duplicate msg alerts for new mail?Once set up in Touchdown, should one delete the email account set-up in messaging? Also, I have a second gmail account for personal mail but for now have only setup my work account in Touchdown. Should I do the same for this account in Touchdown - Exchange?

Motorola Droid X :: Touchdown Vs Stock 2.1 Exchange Sync - Bug In 2.1?

Jul 22, 2010

I have never been able to sync past calendar events using the stock 2.1 Exchange (Outlook) sync. I only get past events for the last month. Yes, I have "sync all events" turned on. Any calendar event older than 30 days will not display or sync.

I spent 1.5 hours with Motorolla tech support today (live chat) trying to solve this to no avail. The tech said the problem is on my company's Exchange server. I said the bug is in Android 2.1. Example: my iPod touch syncs everything with the Exchange server including past events.

Just now I installed Touchdown on my Droid X. Everything sync'ed - all events, past, present and future. They display nicely in the Touchdown calendar display.

These past events still will not display in any of the stock calendars.

Motorola Droid :: Touchdown Slow To Pull Up Names From Contacts

Anyone else experience a delay of about 5 seconds within touchdown for it to pull up contact name suggestions. For example. Compose email- type in last name of person to add to the "To" field. Take about 5-7 seconds for the name suggestion to come up from the contact list.

Motorola Droid 2 :: Corporate Email Search On D2

Oct 1, 2010

Open the email inbox, tap the search icon and the keyboard appears - but no search box. When I'd seen that before I thought it was just an odd defect.

When you start typing the letters you type appear above the keyboard and the emails are filtered on subject/sender by what you type.

Very cool...would like to have things like sorting by subject/sender, and searching contents, but heck, getting any search at all in exchange email on the Droid is great...does not exist in stock 2.2.

Hopefully I'm not the only one who didn't know. I'm on the 2.3.15 leak...no idea if it is in 2.2.20 as well...

Motorola Droid X :: Added Corporate Account

Sep 3, 2010

I also posted this on the support forum, but there seems like there's more conversations regarding Exchange over here. On this forum I have gotten clarification that I don't need the "corporate email plan".I added my corporate account through Corporate Sync. It seemed to take just fine and appears to be set up. I checked the boxes that I wanted contacts and calender to sync and checked off the email one. Per an email with IT, it appears I put in the correct information. (They won't formally give support since it's a personal phone.)I hate to seem like an idiot here, but where and how does the calender and contacts sync and show up on my phone? Is there some other software needed here or some setting I need to check. How do you make the sync happen and does it load to the existing calender and contacts apps in the X?

Motorola Droid :: TOS / EULA & Corporate E-Mail

Sep 15, 2010

My wife works for a Fortune 100 company. They allow iPhones and non-Motorola Android based phones to access the Exchange servers for e-mail & calendar. The reason they state for not permitting Motorola is that Motorola states they retain *all* data on the phone and the right to use any/all of it in any way they see fit.First of all, I find this hard to believe. But I do believe there may possible be something alluding to this in the vague language that is the TOS/EULA. i can not get anyone at her company to tell me specifically where they have seen this and why they believe it to be true.In the absence of proof from corporate, I would like to know if anyone has heard or seen of anything like this from Motorola or a corporate mail provider. I have a few tech contacts in the media arena that if i can point this out to them very specifically, they can raise a stink about it and get it changed - like TOS/EULA's have been changed over the years by media pressure.

I have been getting the message 'as meeting organizer no response is required' in Outlook when people send me updates and I am not the meeting organizer. From reading around it seems it may be an issue with syncing the calendar which I have stopped but it did not fix the appointments.

I was looking for a way to do a one way sync or something but have not come across a way to do this in corporate sync. Not sure the issue but was hoping someone here may have seen the same issue. By the way email and contacts work just fine.

I am an IT guy and will recommend this program to all my android folks.

Motorola Droid :: Corporate (Exchange) Email Sorting?

Dec 29, 2009

Gradually getting used to using my Droid for Corporate Email & Calendar purposes no way I would ever take this thing back, but looking for solutions to the following:
I do not see a way to sort my inbox by "From" to group those emails together. I got spoiled on my BB Storm being able to touch and hold the sender and it would sort all emails. Is there a way to do this on the Droid?

Also, when I go into my "Sent" folder, all emails are shown by the person that the emails are from, which is ME, impossible to see who I sent the email to and have to look at the subject and open the email to have any idea about the content. There's got to be a way to change this to view by who the email was sent to, which is usually what you're looking for anyway.
