I just got a new droid because my last one had issues with the headphone jack. What steps do I have to take to make my new phone just as my old one.
Right now I'm running NexFro 2.2 frf57.

Is there a better music player? I absolutely hate the stock one. If not is there a widget or something because. there's not enough options on the stock one. I'm not rooted.

When my phone is on a white screen, like the Google search page, I can see a light brown circle in the middle on my screen. So I'm wondering if the battery is burning the screen. (Something similar to how the battery burns the back of the white iphones and leave a light burn mark.) But can the battery do that to the screen? I did apply a Zagg screen protector with solution, but the circle is to perfect for it to be from that. So, anyone else seeing this or has had this happen to their screen before?

What is the best way to backup my old phone and restore it on the replacement one?
I was told my Verizon that it would duplicate automatically. I was skeptical and for sure I have only seen Google stuff (contacts, gmail, etc) sync.
But I am also interested in all my apps and settings...
I did try an app called MyBackup, which let me copy over all the apps alright, but the market didn't realize they were installed (so it won't know about updates) and of course all my settings and prefs are gone. Anyone have any luck?
I am going for the root and a new ROM, the one I will be choosing is CyanogenMod V5.0.4.2 for Droid. What will become of my contacts and my texts. Also when I put the ROM on my phone is there a way to put the numbers back on my phone from a backup or something...?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my Droid on Friday, the day it came out. Was working fine. Today, about an hour ago, my droid reset itself. Then started back up. when I got to my home screen, it reset itself. When I got to the home screen again, very shortly (less than 10 seconds) it reset itself again! And repeated this over and over. It never stopped! I can not even use my Droid!

Just scared i'll mess my phone up and have to buy another. I'm sure you deal with people like me daily. Anyways, I'm going to wait for the official 2.2 to come out, then worry about rooting. My question is, If I would use androot and koush's backup, and only used trustworthy roms that people post on forums like this, with positive feedback. do i really have to worry about bricking my phone?

WinMo user because up until now (2.2 release of Froyo) I have always assumed Android wasn't as elegant, capable, and smooth as Windows (YES, I WAS WRONG).So now that I'm ready to make the switch... does Android offer any service, through my Google log-in perhaps, to back up all my contacts to the cloud (with pictures and files as well, or is the data limited) I am with Verizon and have had this sluggish Touch Pro 2 for far too long, and have an annual upgrade I'm either going to put to use on with the Droid 2, or the X!

I have to send my dead phone back once I get the new one, and am concerned about the fact that it's rooted running Froyo. I'd like to restore the nandroid backup I made of stock 2.1. Can somebody give me advice on how to do this with a dead screen? Perhaps from the command line on my computer via USB, or perhaps the key strokes to do it in nandroid so I can replicate it by feel?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have the root app Titanium Backup. When I root my friends' phones, I like giving them all my root apps with a quick transfer of my SD card app backups from AppControl.
BUT, I have never been able to find the backup file for Titanium Backup. I realize they can just download it from the Market, but where I work I get no service so I can't download it for hours for them.
Does AppControl or even Titanium Backup itself actually back up Titanium Backup? It seems almost like they skip over the APK because I can never find any backed up APK files that have the words "Titanium" or "Backup" in it. I've never been able to find the file!
I DLed Titanium Backup, but it wasn't obtaining root access. I read here that I probably need to update to a newer version of BB. After a bit of a fight, I finally managed to get BB 0.4 onto my Droid. I figured I was safe b/c I have Lookout, which also backs up data. Yeah, it backs up contacts and pix, that's it. So here I am w/ a nice, shiny new rom, and a completely wiped phone.
Now, I know my old info is still there. I know I could just recover into my last version. But then I wouldn't be on this rom. Is there any way for me to get that info on here, or do I have to do everything manual? Or could I restore the old version, and not need to do a wipe when flashing the new rom?
Man, no matter what I good I start to feel about myself w/ what I've already learned from you guys, I'm quickly reminded that I'm barely scratching the surface.
okay well ive been hearing that the ally is coming to verizon so what should i do. ive wanted a moto droid for ever. and the incredible is cool and all but i like my physical keyboards. now what would be a better choice the motorola or the LG. convince a noob guys.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI finally got around to getting 2.2 (after having to watch my phone in a bootloop all day since i was in meetings all day). i kept root. all of my other root apps work (shoot me, root explorer, autokiller, etc...) except titanium backup. ti backup says it cant verify root. everything is running like a top, except the one app i REALLY wanna get up and running. anyone come across this or have any ideas? i'm sure its something really simple i'm not thinking of.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI was switching roms last night and something didn't go through correctly.I restored my nandroid backup and everything is somewhat back to normal.Ti backup force closes on startup although I still have root. I don't really mind having to sbf, but my question deals with game progress. One game i have in mind is angry birds. Is there a way to save my game progress without using Ti backup.and saved the contents of this folder to a folder on the root of my sdcard. Can I simply overwrite these files after an sbf and clean rom install and maintain my progress? Will this general procedure work for anything? If not, what is the difference between this and "restoring" from ti backup?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo here's a little tip that's part of Froyo (2.2). Backup and Restore. Apparently, if you need to do a factory reset and wipe the phone, by selecting this in your Privacy settings before the reset, your apps and settings will be restored from Google's servers to their previous state without having to do it all manually f. There's more info on the Moto Forum site here. I hope this actually does what it says it does and helps a few folks out.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having issues with Backup Assistant. Mine has not worked in over a month. Everytime it is scheduled to run I get a message that says incorrect PIN. I know the PIN I'm using is correct, I click on "forgot PIN" and get the same number I'm using. VZW tells me it is a "KNOWN PROBLEM" but apparently in over a month they haven't been able to fix it. It worked to begin with when I got the DX, how can something like this happen. If they made changes that didn't work, can't they change it back?
