Motorola Droid :: CM6 Clear Space In System Folder
Sep 12, 2010
Been using CM6 for a week or so and wanted to free up some space in my system folder. Is there anything I can remove then reinstall and have it reinstall elsewhere? Or is there anything I can completely delete from my system folder?

There is a folder called "recent" I cant seem to find a way to clear the folder or delete certain ones if I wanted. If you hold the screen down it shows folders and if u click on it u will see recent.

If you have been like me flashing and unflashing ROMs (sometime 3 or 4 times a day) keep and eye on your free space. My 16gb sd card was down to about 100mb (I do have lots of music and photos loaded up but a week ago I had almost 4 gigs free). I took a look in my Nandroid folder and there was the culprit. Every once in a while do a little house cleaning and clean out unneeded backups. I wish there was a way to name a Nandroid backup at the time of the backup to make it a little easier to sort out which is which. As new ROM releases come out (and I am drawn to try every one of them) it is amazing how fast you can fill your card.

I just got my first smartphone, and it's an old one - an HTC Aria. I got it rooted with clockwork mod and am using the Cyanogen ROM with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
Well, it's such an old phone, I see that it only has ~185 mb internal storage. I added an 8GB SD card. Even though I move my apps to external storage, I can see that the data didn't get moved and is still quickly eating up all the phone's internal storage. I'm trying to use Madmack's "FolderMount" but am having trouble figuring it out. I think it might be an understanding of Android file/folder structure (I have very little). I'm considering buying the "pro" version (if it works for me), just so I can move the whole data folder at once and free up my internal memory again.
Here's my efforts at testing to see if it works. I'm trying to move the data from the "Plague, Inc." game to the external card (the app is already on the external card). So, when I choose source, it automatically starts me in the /mnt/sdcard/ but doesn't allow me to go "up" to any further root folders of that. So I found in the "Android" folder the "data" folder. I tried to FolderMount that but it gave me the error about the non-Pro version. So I tried the "com.miniclip.plagueinc" folder (knowing that it's currently using 15MB of data) and then using an app called SDCardManager (which I understand is supposed to make it easier for me to access my SD Card, like Windows Explorer or something), I made a folder with this path "/mnt/sdcard/foldermount" I think it should be the right path because it's also where my "android.tether" folder is that I know I created myself.
Anyway, when I pair those two folders in FolderMount, it copies stuff over, and the pin looks green, but it shows my internal memory hasn't changed, still almost entirely full. So what do I do to clear it up? I think my problem is in my understanding of the Android's file structure. I think on "source", I should be able to access some folder before "/mnt/sdcard", but I can't get there.

I recently installed the modaco r8 version of Android on my desire. Then when I wanted to install bash and nano, I found out that the system partition was out of space. I can't even create symbolic links on it. And yes, I did remember to remount the drive I used the df command to check the remaining space, and there is about 3 bytes left.

HD1. was my SD card
HD2 ... was my internal 8gb
Now, same thing happens, but
HD1. i can load no problem (SD CARD)
HD2, click on and it says "must format"
What gives? my phone can still see all my pictures/music from the internal memory though.

I am trying to edit the hosts file to access rest services in my local network. Using adb pull I am able to get the hosts file for the emulator and edit it. However I get the error "No space left on device" when I do an adb push.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Can we increase the space for /system? If so how? Are there any other easier ways to access local area network (without creating a DNS server).

I was trying to create more space. I saw the apps folder and moved it to somewhere else. Then my phone started crashing, so i turned it off. When i turned it back on i got a bootloop. My phone is rooted and i have an alacatel one touch 983. It keeps showing the o2 logo. I think this is because there is no launcher.

I have installed ADB and the whole Android SDK to root my asus transformer infinity (tf700t). I have taken all the steps every forum on the web describes: installing everything trough the manager, adjusting the path in the System Variables, and finally it getting it to work together with my tablet. However, when I try to flash/copy/install files from my folder (yes these files are in the same folder as adb.exe and fastboot.exe, which is the folder I used in the System Variables) It can't either find these files or it cannot open these files. When i put in the command 'path' however. I does give me the path where the files can be found.

My HTC Desire VC (T328d) was rooted and running Android OS 4.0.3 (ics).
In recovery mode, I accidentally formatted /system folder (from internal phone memory). This is because the recovery mode is all in chinese language and I did a huge mistake. The phone cannot boot showing HTC logo screen and no boot sound.
I've downloaded the kernel for this device at htcdev.com.I can enter recovery mode. My friend has the same device and his is not rooted yet.

I can not find a post, but sure it has been asked. How much space does the Droid X have available installing apps? Not counting apps2sd, of course.
The Inc has an 8gb flash, but 6.6gb is for media and 748mb is allocated for app storage.
I know the Droid X has 8gb internal, but is all of it allocated for apps or just some of it?
Also, do people run into the infamous "Low on space" error, even if plenty of space still free? I run into the error on the Inc with 380mb still free, so technically, I really only have 368mb for apps.

I'm running Rooted Android 2.1 rooted with P3 1Ghz kernel and TI backup. I want to be able to run flash, Apps to SD, and restore my original apps I have backed up with TI back up. I've read a lot about options but cant decide on the safest path.
Stock 2.2 will eliminate my root correct?
I'm low on space and Apps to SD is my main concern. I'm happy with 2.1 at 1gz.
Let me know what you guys think the best route would be.
