This morning, I got a second OTA update that came in exactly the same format as the first, which I had gotten a couple of weeks ago. I have a moto droid. The OS version is still 2.2 of course. The Build Number is FRG22D Anyone else get a second Froyo OTA update on their Droid or other Android phone?

Real pleased with the 2.2 update so far, loving the slight changes and improvements, however I have noticed that the lower rear of the phone is getting really hot. To be honest, I never really noticed any heat from this area before the update. My phone was updated bone stock to the 2.2 this morning via the leaked update. Anyone else noticed the HEAT?
View 6 Replies View RelatedOk so i know that the network may be slightly bogged down with everybody trying to download 2.2, but i am having no luck at all updating. I go to check for updates, and it will say "Checking for Updates Please Wait..." for as long as i leave it alone. Any suggestions? I have WiFi on, and have tried many other possible solutions from around the forums. Could it just be my phones problem or maybe something with connection?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI attempted earlier this week to manually install the update, it wouldn't go for me. I got the notification this AM about the update, selected to reboot and got the error screen. After reboot when I go to check for system updates it tells me I'm up to date with 2.0.1. I may back up my texts, though I don't have any critical info there, and do a factory reset then try the manual update process again. Factory reset shouldn't wipe the SD card, right?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLast week I downloaded and installed the file for the 2.2 update, the FRG01B or whatever.
Since then:
- I cannot put my phone on silent. It will only go down to vibrate.
- Battery life has diminished. Went from lasting on average I'd say about 26 hours or so to now about 20.
- Some text messages don't go through to people I send to, and some sent to me don't come until much much later.
Now that I'm reading that the actual OTA update that is being pushed out again today is the same as what I forced last week, I'm beginning to consider just going back down to 2.1 so I don't have these issues.
So since I installed the FROYO update, when my phone is on vibrate, and I get a call. the phone won't vibrate. I'm missing a lot of calls. Anyone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI mentioned this in another thread, but I thought I'd start a new thread for this problem. I have a Droid I need to send back to Verizon, so I want to get it back to stock. It had been running CyanogenMod, so I wanted to flash the 2.0.1 SBF. For some unknown reason, I flashed it with SPRecovery again. I waited for that to finish and then flashed the 2.0.1 SBF like I originally had meant to.It seems to be running 2.0.1 just fine, but it will not download the 2.1 update. I get a notification that says 2.1 is available. I hit the Download button and it acts as if it is starting the download, but then it goes back to the screen that says 2.1 is available. It never downloads the update.I really want to get this to a stock 2.1 before I send it back.Any thoughts?

Unfortunately after the update rebooted the phone it stopped at the Moto symbol and would not go any further. Called verizon and walked throught he normal battery pull and factory reset to no avail. The only answer they had was to send me a replacement phone which will be here to tomorrow. Bummer it broke but good customer service softened the issue.

there's a whole lot more between the first and last entry but you experts probably know exactly what I am referring to.
Looks like there is no way to make the phone completely silent without having to press a button when a call is coming in. I tried pressing the volume button all the way down, pass the vibrate mode but that seems to have been removed in 2.2.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI got 2 Droid X's last Saturday. If you hold mine and my wife's side by side (in the house), she gets 3G and 3 to 4 bars, while mine is 1X or lower with no bars 90% of the time.
The folks at my local store did a *228, option 2 on my phone and asked me to the same when I got home. Distance between the store and my house is about 9 miles. I did this. Still no help.
So i looked at my wife's phone and the PRL version on her phone is 65169, the version on mine is 52105. Obviously her list sees better towers or something. Is there any way to get my phone to set at that same version of the PRL list? A way to get a specific PRL on the phone?
I get good reception most everywhere else, but the fact that the exact 2 phones have such vastly different reception in the same place is frustrating.
Is there a way to manually update the Droid phone to the new version of the OS? My phone doesn't have service because I am using it for learning development only.

View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday I clicked the update button on my droid, and now my droid is dead, all that appears is the motorola logo, even after pulling the battery. Of course technical support at Verizon has no clue what is wrong. The phone will not even turn off unless i take the battery out, the motorola logo shows until the phone goes dead.
As this is my second droid, I don't know that I want a 3rd one. My opinion is that the droid would be a neat smartphone-- if it worked. I doubt that anyone could ever consider using the droid as a business phone, since it randomly quits working. I've had many cell phones and blackberries and never had to return any of them.
I have the best buy protection plan, but not sure that entitles me to a new or different phone, since my droid is about 3 months old.
Just curious if anyone has the 2.1 update.zip file? Looking to possibly go back and root my phone.

I am in the middle of rooting my girlfriends droid right now and i got as far as mounting it as a usb device and transferring the update.zip folder to the sd card... now when i try to install the update on the phone it gives me this message "E: no tar archives found" what do i do? i dont think i have bricked it at least not yet lol. and if so how do i just get it back to the regular froyo updates without rooting it?
i got it back to normal. whew. she rooted her phone using one of the apps. =]
So one of the cool things about Froyo is being able to check off Enable Automatic Update for market apps. So i have that checked off for like 80+% of my 80+ apps (that took a while to do let me tell you). Now i have had three apps have updates available since i checked off the box, yet they never actually automatically updated. I waited, hours, still never updated. Is there a setting i need to modify? Do i need to tell it what time of day to do it? Anyone else noticing this? I only really want it in apps that i don't care about reading the new features. But it is annoying that i have it enabled and it does nothing.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi bought my wife a Cliq exactly 14 days ago. Since then I received some type of update within the first few days. After that it went downhill. The phone would turn off randomly and reboot (I deleted her apps and installed only ones that were trust worthy.etc), put calls on speaker phone while on the phone or just hang up (maybe bad proximity sensor) and some of the camera functions were no working (the only way for her to snap a pic was by touch. The side button wouldn't work). The lady was surprised that it was acting up at the corp store as she said " we never get these back" but hey, they took it hassle free.

So I was wondering, is there any other way to update to GB? The phone is locked, I just can used with Claro network, and I don't want to pay to unlock it. Will a custom rom totally lock the phone?

The update server does not respond, as such we are stuck with 2.0 and with well known documented problems. Some of which make the device not usable.
