My Droid finally arrived. I'm trying to log in to an account, and my password contains a pipe symbol "|", which doesn't seem to be on the keyboard or in the list of symbols in alt-sym. I also notice that don't see back quote "` Is there a way to enter these or do I need to start changing my passwords so that they don't contain these?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI can't figure out exactly why this fails. The application has android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permissions. I can create normal files with exactly the same name in the same location, but pipe creation fails. The pipe in question should be accessible from multiple applications. I suspect that noone can create pipes in /sdcard. Where would it be the best location to do so? What mode mast should I set (2nd parameter) Does application need any extra permissions?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install a rom (Liquid Frozen Yogurt) onto my Motorola Droid. I rebooted, came back and there is a strange symbol on the screen. It is a triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle, and it is standing upright staring down at my phone laying flat. I'm not sure if it's working away, or if this is some problem.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone Friday and it is now Tuesday(Got my phone in August). I installed some apps that are rooted only. Tethering, Overclock Widget, Titanium Backup, ROM manager.When I tried to install a new ROM I was getting download errors. I saw something about ADW.Launcher so I downloaded that and got a theme for it. Today when I reinstalled the Cyanogen 6.0.0. Stable release and rebooted my phone I would get to the Motorola Symbol. After that I got to my custom boot image(Dancing Droids). The image got half way doing its animation it restarted from the begging this continued until I took out the battery. Went into recovery mod and the Cyanogen boot image appeared and did the same as my Dancing Droid but completed 1 1/2 circles with the blue flame. When I got home I plugged in my phone flashed a 2.2 FRG22D.sbf file. I then used RSD lite and connected my phone. Had some trouble flashing the file but eventually got it. When I went back to the boot loader screen and cleared my cache/data(thought it would help) I restarted my phone. Watched and Motorola symbol appear and posted this 1 hour later. Can someone please tell me what I did wrong or what to do?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI updated this morning, but after the update it stuck at the 'Motorola' symbol after the reboot. I had to reboot the phone 5 times to get it work and it was fine; however, i just installed flash and have rebooted 5 times and the phone screen is still stuck at the Motorola symbol upon restart. I can hear emails coming in and i can turn the screen on and off but no go. Looks like I am going to Verizon.

SO the first time I rooted and the first update I did gave me some problems. When the phone rebooted after the flash the Moto symbol would come up and not go any further. Either that or the symbol would show up and then the phone would reset after five seconds. So I did a few battery pulls and finally got it to work after a while. Ever since the 2.0.4 update I cannot get the phone past the Moto screen. I've tried about 12 times between that and 2.0.5 and I have to keep restoring back to my original settings before I flashed any of the ROMs. Anyone know why this is happening? I loved my phone so much more when I had the Smoked Glass 2.1 ROM and OC.

Is it simply a 4 way directional pad or does it also have a press functionality as the gold center would suggest? View 25 Replies View RelatedI recently got a Droid 2, and have been liking it, till today, when I had to manually enter a contact on the phone. I have the latest OTA upgrade.
I found two problems:
(1) Once the Name field goes beyond a certain length, Contacts just edits one entry. I did not attempt a bunch of edits to figure out where the field length trigger for this occurs. However it occurred with two different contacts I wanted to enter, "Capital Ear Nose & Throat Wake Forest" & "Capital Ear Nose & Throat Raleigh". I could start a new contact, but one would just overwrite the other when I clicked save (including the name).
(2) When you task switch with the home button to the browser with a new contact opened, with information in it, and you then switch back to the Contacts app, your new entry is gone!
I won't compare it to other phones, but I am looking a solution or a confirmation this problem has existed forever, and google doesn't plan to fix it.
new to Droid here and loving it. Much better then the Eris in my mind. One quick question: when I try to check my voice mail and it ask me to type in password and hit pound button for some reason when I hit dial pad it flashes on and off and doesn't let me keep it on to punch in my password. Any thoughts on how I can fix that. When I notice I have a voice mail I swipe the notification bar and dial voice mail that way.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to dial a number in Germany which would be +49... now since i can't make that call with my verizon plan i bought a CBS phone card. so i hit 1 for English, 2 for international etc. then when i need to enter the number, on my old phone it worked fine by holding 0 for a while to dial +49. but for some reason that doesn't work with the droid. any ideas?

Is there a soft keyboard out that has alt, ctrl, tab, shift, and a pipe?
It would also need multitouch and/or some sticky keys option to be able to utilize them. (like being able to press ctrl+k)
I don't care about swype or any "super awesome" keyboard with gigantic keys. I'll deal with typos if it means I can keep my evo and still get around in shells remotely without having to carry around a bluetooth keyboard (whenever cyanogen or somebody gets BT HID working).
I don't care about auto correction. I don't care about text prediction. I don't care if you can put a Hello Kitty theme on it. I don't even care if you're forced to use a Hello Kitty them to use it. I just want a keyboard that works as a full keyboard.
I guess I have my first major problem with the phone that I can't seem to figure out. As of last night, the battery icon on the top right of the screen has been showing a "?" symbol instead of the usual colored meter.
I tried charging it and the symbol doesn't change it either. Also, it does not seem to charge. I tried turning my phone on and off...and it doesn't do anything.
I am getting the below two errors, can someone help me, why these errors i am getting.

I just found after 2 hours of debugging my code for errors that TextUtils.split(String, expression); does not work correctly when I use pipe "|" as the expression. Am I wrong in understanding the method or is this a bug?
It works fine when I give it as a pattern ie., [|].
I also tested it using a few other seperators and they seemed to work fine.
I use handcent as my default SMS, I have the widget on my home screen. When I receive a text the green number 1 that shows I have a text does not disappear after I read the text. I have scrolled through to be sure I don't have an unread text. this has happened several times so I don't think it's a fluke one time thing. any advice on how to clear the SMS new text symbol?
