I just heard this on another forum, that if you need to change something you typed you have to go to landscape and use the dpad. You supposedly cannot use the touch screen to go back. Can this be true?

Let me explain :
Let's say I was typing for a bit and I noticed that I mis typed something. If I want to put my cursor where the mis typed letter is, it is not always the easiest thing to do. I noticed on my friends iphone if he were to put the cursor near the letter and hold his finger there a zoomed in window would pop up and alow him to move the cursor to the location he wants to put it.
Is there any app that can do this on the droid?
Is it somehow possible that instead of:
Button btnNextWord = (Button) this.findViewById(R.id.btnNextWord);
Eclipse automatically generates for me something like:
Button btnNextWord = this.btnNextWord;
or
Button btnNextWord = R.id.getBtnNextWord(this);?
Here is what I'm trying do accomplish. I want to use the newest Bugles beast Rom update.zip but i want to insert the Adamz kernal, wifi driver, and a framework-res file so it can all be installed in 1 update. reason for this is i have 3 friends that i have rooted phones for and would like to keep them updated with the most current rom but i want them to only have to install 1 file (they are not very tech savy). so anyways i tried simply dropping those files in there appropriate place and installing it but i get an error "(bad) installation aborted" so what do i need to create/edit an update.zip file. i read maybe i need to sign the update but i have no idea how to do that.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Apex and I've been running the Mad OC script at 1.3 through terminal emulator. My phone just isn't quite as stable as it should be. Maybe 1 random reboot per day (or it will freeze playing angry birds) How do I modify to OC 1.2 Is there a preferred method to accomplish this? I've tried searching and I only got more confused. I've seen manual methods and I've seen apps free and paid... I know I'll need to edit the set scaling.sh. I haven't done that but I'm willing to try? Which method should I use? Do you have setting that are stable at 1.2? If so please share. I really think the 1.2OC will be the sweet spot for my DX.

One thing I've found is that when I try to add a new contact it does so as a google contact where as my existing contacts that were synced over show up as Phone-only contact. There obviously is a difference when adding/editing contacts but I can't figure out how to choose between the two types.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI experimented with 2 different things. The Original file size for the wallpaper on the Camera app is 192x192. I edited a photo to be that size (the black and white one) and did the steps below. I then redid another one with a 854x480 pixel size photo and it also worked. So Anything up to 854x480 will work! Finally no more ugly grey looking wallpaper when taking pictures!
View 11 Replies View Relatedim trying to edit txt within busybox vi, but i need help with saving/exit. im running it out of the terminal emulator, and have ctrl set up as <vol. up>, so i believe i need to do <vol up><sym><1> to enter command mode, but i cant seem to get typical vi commands to work (zz) for write/exit. ok if i get past that then i have mounted system as rw, but within the vi it says [read only]. will this be an issue?

I know you can use songs as ringtones but it uses the whole song and I just want the chorus. I think you can trim songs on the HTC to use as a ringtone but I don't see a way of doing that on the Droid. I'm sure there's an app for it.

I then was surprised to realize that you cant edit movies in the gallery, does anyone know of a way or a app to do this on the Droid? Is this something that Droid i Doesn't do that i Phone DOES?

The "More" option only expands to Notes, Nickname & Website. I believe I've seen that Sense UI on the HTC devices allows Date entry/edit in Contacts, but I'm not seeing in stock Android 2.1 on my Droid. Surprised Dates can only be entered & maintained on the desktop.

When I open the emu and type su and hit enter, it brings up an "Edit Text" dialog box with the options to copy or paste and it won't let me proceed. (I have successfully done it before on another ROM). Am I doing something wrong? Can I run scripts using Root Explorer and how? Is there another emu you would recommend?

It can be a widget or app, but I'd like to have some sort of visual representation of how much battery is left (like a %). Doesn't have to be in notification area (unless I can hide the stock one). All the ones I search in the market just don't look like they are worth anything, and if I pay for one, I want it to be worth it. I'm monitoring my battery usage. I installed one and it told me 30% but the stock battery bar was full. It was then uninstalled.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOne of the things I missed of my Palm Pre was being able to type a text and it will save what I typed even if I completely exit out of the program.
On the EVO when I typed the message and didn't send, I would lose the message when I hit the Home button to do something else. When I came back, the message was gone. I know if I hit the "back" button, it will save as drafts, but thats not what i'm talking about.
However, this morning I typed a message and hit the home button (In my mind I knew it would be gone, but it wasn't that important of a message) but when I went back to the text message, it took me back to the same exact message with my text saved.
What did I do differently? And how can I keep this feature?
I am requesting information regarding writing an app that would respond to user input from the keyboard. Basically, I want to turn certain words into symbols when they are typed. So, if 'brb' was typed, then I would put up "Be Right Back" or something similar onto the screen.

2. How to have an app monitor what is typed in as input from the keyboard
2a. Is this limited to text / email / any app?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else had issues with input boxes not displaying what is typed? I have tried the stock keyboard, better keyboard, and am now using swype. They all do it and its random. I regularly use Google Talk and will be chatting for a little bit, hit the end button to lock the screen, come back 2 minutes later and it won't take anything I type. It usually comes back 5-10 minutes later or if I reboot.
This has been going on since 1.5 and continued in stock 2.1 and is still there rooted using Fresh 2.1.
