Motorola Droid :: How To Set Google Voice / Version Voice Mail?
Jan 23, 2010I changed the voice mail number from *86 (version default) to my Google voice number. This works when I am not answering the phone and I the caller gets connected to my GV account. But when my phone is not in coverage the caller gets my version voice mail. Appreciate if someone can correct my settings or suggest any app that does it. I am from Windows mobile world and missing those settings when you can define several settings for voice mail (unanswered, rejected, unavailable etc...)

Jan 21, 2010I've been searching around the net and browsingthe APIs to find a way to forward an incoming phone call to voice mail, but with no success so far.I know it can be done since some apps do it already. I also know that blocking an incoming phone call is not possible yet and is an issue Google devs are working on.In the app i'm coding, I easily manage to detect an incoming phone call by listening to the phone state. But I cant make the phone NOT ring and NOT show the incoming phone call screen.I' ve tried to cut off the network via a ServiceState object, but that doesn't seem to work.

Feb 11, 2010I use Google Voice (love it) primarily because of it's visual voicemail on my Droid. I do have a Google Voice number, and I'm trying to decide whether to set the Droid app to "make calls using Google Voice" or not.
I have no problem with giving out a different number, and my placed calls seeing the GV number in caller ID.
My question is, does this affect how the call is actually connected, from a quality standpoint? I tired a call both ways, and the sound quality seemed a little bit different. But then, I am an obsessive compulsive weirdo.
Is there any difference in call quality or routing between making a native Verizon call and a Google Voice call on Droid? (Like, does Google voice actual use 3G to connect to Google server over the internetz, then place the phone call?)

May 14, 2010Loving my new desire but its got one strange bug, for instance , when my gf calls me 'o2 network', the call goes strait to my voice mail, i was blaming her new phone as u do lol but when i called my phone using her handset, my phone dident ring and it went strait to my voice mail , woulent mind we were both in the same room, i did this a few times and it would connect fine but the odd time it failed to connect, checked signal and that was fine , so cant be the problem, anyone else had this problem?

Sep 6, 2010I'm new to these forums as I'm very new to using an HTC Desire Android phone. As a previous iPhone owner I was a little nervous to port over but, I've been extremely pleased with my new android handset and OS. However one thing has been driving me crazy. The other day i decided to ring my voice mail and found that I had 3 missed voice mails. No where on the home screen of my phone or settings screens or anywhere else I looked on my phone was I notified of my Voice Mails. I rely quite heavily on accessing my Voice mails as the building I work in has terrible reception. In the past using my iPhone I could enter an area of the building that had better reception and the notification would arrive. I need this functionality, especially as at the moment I'm trying to get a new job, I'd be a little upset if I were to miss a golden opportunity due to no voice mail notification. I tried a few tests with my handset to make sure I wasn't loosing the plot and sure enough I do not receive any notification for my missed calls or as I mentioned earlier no reception problem straight to voice mail. The idea of having to phone 901 every time i need to check my voice mails seems a little absurd, this is 2010 surely as it is primarily first and foremost a phone I would suspect that you would be able to have this functionality. I've searched the net and there's not much talk on how to fix this problem. Sure there's talk on use an App but I'd like that as my last resort really.
This may or may not have been mentioned on these forums, I have done a search before hand and results were blank so I apologies if this has been covered. Please Please Please any one here with infinite wisdom on this matter would be a breath of fresh air.
HTC Droid Eris :: Send Call To Voice Mail Gone?
May 20, 2010First off I've got to say the 2.1 upgrade really improved my phone's speed and completely fixed the dialer lag I used to have. I'm very satisfied. My only issues are 2 small problems: 1. My ring tone (same as before upgrade) fades if I pick up the phone to answer it....if I leave the phone on the counter it plays normally. 2. Where is the "send call to voice mail" option? I don't get that option anymore when saving a call to contacts.

Sep 19, 2010Once upon a time, I set up Google Voice as the voicemail agent on my phone. Now I really regret it.Every time a get a voicemail now, I receive two text messages and an email and it's annoying.So I went to call settings and changed the voicemail from Voice back to "Carrier" and I also removed the Voice number and put back the default voicemail number.Nothing has changed! Any ideas?I am running Froyostone on an HTC HD2, which may complicate things.

Feb 15, 2010I would like a different notification sound for my email than I have for voice mail. I keep reading that each app has a setting that allows one to select a unique sound, but I am not able to find this setting for the stock email app, or the voicemail app. The only options under email settings are:
Email notifications - ON or OFF
Notification sound - ON or OFF
Notification vibrate - ON or OFF
Under Voicemail settings, I see NO choices for notifications.

Dec 16, 2009I have been using GV for a few weeks with no problem.I mainly use it for SMS, saving me and my GF $30 a month.Recently, GV will not auto notify us of new text messages.I have the Droid and she has the Eris, I know for a fact that GV voicemail notification is working on mine, not sure about hers. She likes things simple, and this started to get annoying. The only way I can get GV to notify me of new SMS is to open the app and wait a few seconds.I haven't changed any settings, wondering if anyone can help here.

Jan 4, 2010One thing I've noticed with my HTC Hero (Sprint) is that I have a very short period of time to answer an incoming call before the caller is directed to voice mail. When I do answer the phone people are routinely telling me that it rang 4 or more times before I answered even though, from my perspective, I answered it rather quickly. Could this have something to do with using downloaded ringtones? Perhaps, while the phone should be ringing, instead, it is loading the ringtone off the sdcard.

Jun 30, 2010I've factory reset my phone 3 times today for data problems and push email issues. Since the last time, I have a voicemail icon in my notification bar, clicking on it tells me to call my GV number to hear 3 messages. I cleared the messages in the GV app,but the notification wont go away. It has no Clear button to dismiss. I've rebooted the phone, tried calling the number, but have not yet tried throwing it against the wall. That's next. Jul 29, 2010I finally changed the voicemail system on my Hero from Sprint's "visual voicemail" (which is misleading because it doesn't transcribe voicemails) to Google Voice. It's nice to see my transcribed voicemails now. However, when I actually want to hear them (if the transcription didn't work well), it only comes through the external speaker; the speaker on the back of the phone. I went into Google Voice settings and under "Voicemail Playback" I tried the only two options: "Play via Handset" and "Play via Speaker." Unfortunately, both play through the speaker phone speaker. How do I change it to the phone speaker? I also can't adjust the volume, so the whole world hears my voicemails through the external speaker.

Craigslist) but when I get a text it gives me a notification for my text messaging app and also a notification for the google voice app. I'm wanting it to only send me a notification in the voice app. I'm sure there's a setting i'm looking over but if someone knows what this setting is please let me know.It drives me crazy to get 2 for the same message.

That is where, when you answer the phone, an automated voice tells you who is calling and asks if you want to send to voicemail or answer, etc. It does this for every call. The annoying part is.
