Is there a way to get rid of sprecovery. After that, how do I go from ese53 to ese81

Motorola Droid :: Why ESE81 Better Than ESE53 Or ERE25?
Apr 1, 2010I understand that it is an update designed specifically for the Droid, but apart from having a Droid specific baseband (which can be flashed separately) is there actually any reason to base ROMs on ESE81 instead of ESE53 or ERE25?

Apr 13, 2010As the title suggests, is it possible to add/implement apps2sd into an ESE81 ROM? This is the only feature CM offers that I am really after... I understand of course the kernel also has to allow for this, which AFAIK the regular ESE81 kernels do not do as of yet..
If not, hopefully CM for Droid gets more refined/polished specifically for the Droid itself soon..

Mar 31, 2010Running perfectly. Very fast, responsive and smooth. I would suggest, however, to make the stock "Home" app your default desktop app the first time you boot up the new 2.1 update. Then you can test your theme in SH to make sure that it's all good. 2.1 has the Live Wallpapers (which seems very smooth, btw), but SH does NOT support them yet.

Jun 20, 2010Anyone know where I can get themes for a Droid running stock ESE81 (rooted). I have seen themes for stuff like aHome or Panda Home, but I don't care for those. I like using LauncherPro or ADW.Launcher, but I don't know of any themes that can be either of those and stock ESE81. would love to find a dark "glass" type theme. I would however be cool with something simple that looked like the stock theme, but had a black or dark grey status bar.

Mar 10, 2010So I know that there are a ton of roms out there and seems like more and more keep popping up everyday. Yesterday, I ran across this at AllDroid and I wasn't going to try it cause I thought the screenshots looked ugly...still do actually. You really have to put this on your phone to see how nice it looks.
Looks aside, this is a very fluid rom and the performance has been great for me (about 24 hours with it so far). WiFi Tethering is broken but like the title says, it's still a Beta. I was just so impressed with it that I had to check out what everyone was saying over here...and didn't see it posted...so here it is!
[ROM] Elegance v0.5 (2.1 ese53) -- Themed w/ JIT+SU+Wireless Tether+Motoroi Apps. Here is my main homescreen and lockscreen. Looks much better without the horrible, "un-elegant" looking clock they show in the screenshots over all AllDroid.
Motorola Droid :: JIT By Default In ESE53 ROMs?
Mar 10, 2010I saw a post recently, can't remember where any more, that said that ERE53 ROMs come by default w/the necessary versions of the files, and all that you needed to do was add the dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit line to build.prop and you had JIT enabled.
Is anyone sure whether this is correct or not?
Motorola Droid :: Rooting After Flashing ESE53?
Mar 15, 2010So I've been reading around trying to figure out the whole ESE53 thing before I try it. The post on alldroid linked in the sticky says that it will wipe my phone and unroot it. A couple of questions arise from that. What exactly is wiped? And is the re-rooting process the same? Can I use DMupdater to root it again?

Apr 14, 2010I'm running NexBeast ESE81 OC'd to 1100mhz (Running idle around 23c). I've had no issues whatsoever and, in fact, have been on this ROM since the day it was released (a record for me). However, this morning my phone was fully charged and sitting on my desk when it suddenly dropped to 5% charge. I panicked, rebooted the phone, and it now says 70% charged. What could have caused this? I searched and found someone had a similar issue but no one seemed to know a fix. My phone is running fine now, but I want to avoid further issues.

I hate manually typing in letter by letter when using the phone in normal position. Use to be able to fly through text and not have to go horizontal to type. Sep 21, 2010I just joined the the moto droid world. I came from the Eris crowd. I had rooted my Eris and loved it and am looking to root the Droid 1 soon. My only question is is how do you install SPRecovery? When rooting the Eris you would install the Recovery Image right after rooting. I have searched around and am unclear on how this is done on the Moto. Could someone please point me in the right direction.

I even did some adb commands for the first time ever late last night.(they mostly failed )I followed instructions in another thread on how to install sprecovery on a 2.1 OTA phone without rolling it back to 2.0.1 So Right now I have 2.1 OTA phone with SPRecovery. My question is what do I do next ? Install a custom Rom? I understand there is no way yet to root the 2.1 OTA. ( I found a couple posts on how do so but the update.zips did nothing for me)IF installing a custom ROM is the answer then can someone help me with that? will it install on my phone that has 2.1 OTA with SPRecover? what is a good ROM? I dont want something thats gonna lessen my GPS as I have read some roms do. Most of all Idont want to Brick my phone.btw I love this droid and Im excited to be on the android forums

Mar 8, 2010I've seen an issue now on both Chevy's and Pete's ESE53 ROMs.
I play a video using the youtube player, and the video locks up, touchscreen and phone buttons non-responsive, and then the phone reboots.
I did a full wipe/reset and installed all apps from the market when I installed Pete's ROM, so it's not due to a messy setup...
Doesn't happen every time, but very frequently. Last night I played some or all of three videos, no issue. This morning tried one and my phone locked up/rebooted within the first five seconds of the video.

Motorola Droid :: SPRecovery Vs Clockworkmod Recovery
Sep 19, 2010I have read through the guides referenced in the sticky but I'm still a bit lost on this sprecovery and clockworkmod recovery or whatever. I've rooted my FRG22 and have the superuser permissions and have installed titanium backup. I will backup my SMS/call log/apps/etc before flashing any ROMs.
I want to now do the nandroid backup business, but I'm lost on whether to use sprecovery or clockworkmod recovery. One of the guides says clockworkmod recovery is easier. I'm not about the 1-click stuff, I'd rather understand what it is i'm doing. Where do I get either of these utilities? Which one is "better" to use?
The concept is that the utility lives on my sdcard and creates a backup image that can then be loaded if manage to flub things up going back and forth between ROMs? Is this the utility that would run when I boot the phone and press X? (Right now if I do that, I just get the phone and exclamation point, i take it because I have no recovery utility installed?) Sorry if this has been covered, I've been reading all evening, just need someone to break it down for me.

Aug 20, 2010I have my phone rooted and in bootloader mode but when I try to load the latest SPRecovery through RSD lite 4.6 it says. Failed flashing process. I think I need to run the md5sum but I cant figure out exactly what to type in the command box to bring it up right. If it is a problem with one of the files, where can I download other versions? Also, while I'm at it. What exactly is the C: root directory?

Oct 16, 2010I have SPRecovery (haven't updated it in a long time) on my phone as well as the latest version of ClockworkMod/ROM Manager. I cannot install or backup ROMs because RM won't reboot into SPRecovery. Also, I cannot manually reboot into SPRecovery...power + X takes me right to the Motorola flash screen. What's going on here?
How can I check to see if I have SPRecovery installed? Sorry, but it's been awhile and although I've been rooted for a long time and have flashed many ROMs, I don't do it often any more and I'm afraid that somehow (I have NO idea) that SPRecovery may have been removed or something...even though I have the latest version of clockworkMOD/ROM Manager.
