Motorola Droid :: How To Install SPRecovery
Sep 21, 2010I just joined the the moto droid world. I came from the Eris crowd. I had rooted my Eris and loved it and am looking to root the Droid 1 soon. My only question is is how do you install SPRecovery? When rooting the Eris you would install the Recovery Image right after rooting. I have searched around and am unclear on how this is done on the Moto. Could someone please point me in the right direction.

Apr 24, 2010Im new to this. I just got my droid yesterday, but Im no idiot when it comes to computers. I even did some adb commands for the first time ever late last night.(they mostly failed )I followed instructions in another thread on how to install sprecovery on a 2.1 OTA phone without rolling it back to 2.0.1 So Right now I have 2.1 OTA phone with SPRecovery. My question is what do I do next ? Install a custom Rom? I understand there is no way yet to root the 2.1 OTA. ( I found a couple posts on how do so but the update.zips did nothing for me)IF installing a custom ROM is the answer then can someone help me with that? will it install on my phone that has 2.1 OTA with SPRecover? what is a good ROM? I dont want something thats gonna lessen my GPS as I have read some roms do. Most of all Idont want to Brick my phone.btw I love this droid and Im excited to be on the android forums

Sep 19, 2010I have read through the guides referenced in the sticky but I'm still a bit lost on this sprecovery and clockworkmod recovery or whatever. I've rooted my FRG22 and have the superuser permissions and have installed titanium backup. I will backup my SMS/call log/apps/etc before flashing any ROMs.
I want to now do the nandroid backup business, but I'm lost on whether to use sprecovery or clockworkmod recovery. One of the guides says clockworkmod recovery is easier. I'm not about the 1-click stuff, I'd rather understand what it is i'm doing. Where do I get either of these utilities? Which one is "better" to use?
The concept is that the utility lives on my sdcard and creates a backup image that can then be loaded if manage to flub things up going back and forth between ROMs? Is this the utility that would run when I boot the phone and press X? (Right now if I do that, I just get the phone and exclamation point, i take it because I have no recovery utility installed?) Sorry if this has been covered, I've been reading all evening, just need someone to break it down for me.

Aug 20, 2010I have my phone rooted and in bootloader mode but when I try to load the latest SPRecovery through RSD lite 4.6 it says. Failed flashing process. I think I need to run the md5sum but I cant figure out exactly what to type in the command box to bring it up right. If it is a problem with one of the files, where can I download other versions? Also, while I'm at it. What exactly is the C: root directory?

Oct 16, 2010I have SPRecovery (haven't updated it in a long time) on my phone as well as the latest version of ClockworkMod/ROM Manager. I cannot install or backup ROMs because RM won't reboot into SPRecovery. Also, I cannot manually reboot into SPRecovery...power + X takes me right to the Motorola flash screen. What's going on here?
How can I check to see if I have SPRecovery installed? Sorry, but it's been awhile and although I've been rooted for a long time and have flashed many ROMs, I don't do it often any more and I'm afraid that somehow (I have NO idea) that SPRecovery may have been removed or something...even though I have the latest version of clockworkMOD/ROM Manager.

Jul 14, 2010Ive been trying to reroot my droid and get it back to 2.2, i get it to rooted 2.0.1 no issues but when i try to go from there to 2.2 I always get errors in SPrecovery, when i try to do install from SD card i get error 30, when i try to do a backup i usually get and error. I got the backup to go through once but when i try to restore I get error 20. in SPrecovery when I select /mount SD it says SD card can not be found.
In Droid root helper I've mounted renamed installed busybox and flas, ive flashed the recovery, unmounted, synced, rebooted.
seems to go through fine.
then I put the rom I want Kangerades (http://androidforums.com/roms-droid/117131-7-7-10-rom-froyo-kangerade-5-0-9-a.html) green one, I put it in the root of my SD card, reboot to recovery, backup (try to, usually fails) wipe cache, then i try to install ROM from SD card keeps giving error. ( ive tried without wiping cache, with out wiping data and withou wiping both)
and tips? is their something im doing wrong? (first time I rooted and went to 2.2 I had much less issues.
I have also wiped my SD card completely and reinstalled everything (tools etc...)

Aug 14, 2010I manually installed the FRG01B update yesterday. And since doing so, I have noticed a ridiculously steep drop in battery life. Do I need to be running FRG22? Is that available to download manually, if so? I also know that I don't have the version of Facebook that was causing battery drainage. ATK didn't seem to help at all (it might have even made it worse). Is there anything I can do to vastly improve battery life? It would be great if I could get the phone's battery to last at least 24 hours. I already uninstalled ATK, by the way.

Nov 13, 2010Rooted Droid 1, running LFY 1.9 with it's 1ghz kernel, SPRecovery. Had a weird issue recently; the phone displayed that my battery life was at 40%, then probably ~30 minutes later it was down to 20%. I wasn't using it during that time, I just unlocked the screen to check something. Anyway, I opened my browser and within a minute or two I got the "15% battery life remaining" message, prompting me to connect my charger. I decided I would allow the phone to just die and shut itself down. So I waited ~45 minutes and it went down to 10%, then almost immediately to 5%. I turned on the GPS just to make it drain faster... I watched a one-hour television show and when it was over, I glanced over to the phone to see if it had died - nope, still on. I turned the LED light on, leaving the GPS running for ~25 minutes and it finally powered down. Then I plugged it in to charge and left the room. Came back in about 2.5 hours later and picked up the phone - it was very hot. Unlocked the screen and checked SetCPU and it was running ~135?F but it immediately started cooling down. It was fully charged, however so I unplugged it. I went to bed shortly thereafter and the battery life displayed 90% as I set the alarm to wake me up the next morning. I happened to wake up shortly before the alarm was set to go off and I picked up the phone to disable the alarm and noticed the red 'charge me' light blinking - unlocked the screen to see 5% and just then it powered itself down.
TL;DR -- Phone only got hot that one time, phone hasn't gone dead in stand-by mode again like it did that night. Battery drains at a seemingly normal rate based on my regular use from 100% down to 40%, then it rapidly drains after that, always skipping 30% and when it gets down to 5% it stays alive for quite a long time under heavy load. Is there a way to 'teach' the phone how to check and calculate actual and remaining battery % and to display it correctly? Is it kernel-related? I heard somewhere about doing a 'battery wipe' but I am unsure what that entails and searches are proving fruitless for me so far.

- I'm running the "Battery Left" widget and I have it displaying "estimated percentage left", "system percentage", and "estimated time left until dead".
- I listen to A LOT of Slacker Radio.
My issues:
- I was previously getting about 19+ hours out of a fully charged battery. 2-3 days ago I started having issues with the widget (I think it may have started when I installed an update to the widget) so I recalibrated it to no avail. Then I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Within a few hours it claimed that it was getting accurate readings (when I first installed the widget weeks ago, it took days to get accurate) and now says that I should be getting 9 hours out of a fully charged battery. I know that can't be right so I'll see how the widget adjusts itself over the next few days, but, any thoughts? (I know a lot of you guys use the same widget and know how it works...)
- Also, In the first two hours of my phone being unplugged this morning, it went from 100% to 70%. I did run Slacker for about an hour and a half of that time, but could it really drain the battery that much that quickly? And I noticed that when I close Slacker, if I go into phone settings, applications, running services - there's still a Slacker update thing running in there. Could that be draining the battery too, even if it's only checking for updates?
- I really don't run a lot of stuff on this phone. I keep wifi and gps turned off. I use bluetooth only a few hours each night. Minimal web browsing. Although, my POP email gets checked every 5 mins (but I just changed it to every 10) and I do use gchat and text a decent amount, but I'd say overall, it's "light" use (except for Slacker which could be a huge drain, right?)
Motorola Droid X :: Battery Left Says 70 Percent Left But Battery Meter In Status Bar Showed Full
Sep 30, 2010Battery Left was the first thing I installed on my phone when I got it. My battery life has been terrible so I've been trying to track down the problem. I woke up today, unplugged my phone and didn't touch it for an hour. Battery Left says I have 70 percent left but the battery meter in the status bar showed full. I uninstalled battery left and installed Battstatt and it shows 90 percent (2 hours later). Anyone else have problems with battery left? I hope this fixes my battery problem.
