Motorola Droid :: Erratic Touch Sensitivity While Droid In Dock
Mar 19, 2010
anyone have a dock like me and when you try to push app icons or enter calendar info or try to type, the Droid wigs out? You push here but the app 2 apps over highlights or opens. Try to long press on the Calendar to do an input and the page just jiggles back and fourth like it cannot decide what your doing? Use your finger to flick to another home screen, and instead, it triggers the app shelf to open.

I can't find anything on this function. I.E. For those with a heavier touch, unwanted applications are opened when scrolling or navigating around the screen. For example, my contact list.I'll be running down the list to let's say the " R's " and when I get near the person I want to contact and slide the list up or down to center their view, it seems like the slightest touch anywhere besides right on their name opens up the wrong one.

I don't see where anyone has asked this before, so I guess I'm the first?I find myself selecting items when all I want to do it scroll down the page. I find myself calling people when all I want to do is scroll down my contacts list, and while browsing on the internet, scrolling through a web page ends up with me selecting hyperlinks instead. Is there a way to make it so you have to keep your finger on an item a little longer to actually select it?

It seems like since the 2.1 install, the home button is not nearly as sensitive. Also the screen sensitivity seems lower as well. I have to try several times to get it to click. Is there a way to change the sensitivity??

And the gold toggle thingy is USELESS when trying to click on an icon. Is there a way to lower the sensitivity of the screen or the toggle? In a. Normal 20 minute browsing session I have to hit back at LEAST 10 times due to ever so slightly mis-touches.

I'm just going crazy (wouldn't put it past myself) but it almost seems as if after I rooted my droid and starting using Pete's BB Roms (currently using 0.4) my touch sensitivity on the screen has decreased. I've been finding that I've had to tap more than once (sometimes repeatedly) on some functions to get a response that I previously had no trouble with.I've not tried any other ROMs and I haven't gone back to stock to test.I also am NOT using any type of screen protector.Has anyone else had similar issues?

Just curious if anyone has any solutions or has experienced the same type of problem.

I am the developer of WordUp! This game makes heavy use of the View touch apis to detect press and drag gestures across the letter cubes. Once in a while, I'll get a complaint (unfortunately coupled with a lower star rating) related to not being able to press and drag very easily. For example: "Would be fantastic if touch sensitivity wasn't so off-I had to practically dig my finger into the screen and drag it to connect letters." As a developer, this is really frustrating as I think this is an issue with the HTC Dream 1 hardware and possibly the Android 1.1 OS. I don't think it's fair that I would get dinged for a problem which rightly falls into the court of HTC/Google. In my experience with my own dev phone, I have found that a certain amount of natural oil on your fingertip makes a big difference in how easy it is to press and drag. I know that the touch screen is based on electrical current and, as such, it makes sense that the more oil on your finger, the better "connection" your finger will make with the screen. Perhaps the aforementioned user windexes the screen on a regular basis or compulsively hand-washes? In any case, I am requesting some reasonable explanation for this as I know it's not an isolated incident.

Is there any way to turn up the sensitivity on the touch screen? It seems decent enough, but it is no where near as resposive as my old iPhone. Why? It just seems like I have to touch everything on the screen twice.

I've had my hero for about 10 days now. So far I am loving it way more than my old winmo phone. That said, I find that the screen is just not nearly as touch sensitive as my ipod touch and im kind of disappointed. I have to press things sometimes 2 or 3 times to get it go. Especially in the corners
1. I did do the text alignment delay
2. I have a screen protector. Its a $20 Invisible Shield by ZAGG that is off the shelf. Could that be causing the slow and unresponsive screen? What do you guys use?
3. Does the hero really NEED a screen protector? I previously had an HTC touch DIAMOND and i didn't use a screen protector evre and it got scratched up to HELL. Just for reference, I used my ipod almost in the same way (in and out of jeans pocket, not with keys, etc) and it didn't scratch AT ALL.Any way to improve this would make me way less disappointed here.

Sometimes the touchscreen is just fine, but other times it falls in sensitivity.I find myself have to press down hard on the screen in order for it to recognize the touch. This has been the case both with or without a screen protector.Anyone else experience this? Can this be improved in any way by the future 2.1 update?

I have a Pantech sky LTE A800s android phone. Recently, I've having this random lost of touch sensitivity!!! After having this problem for a few weeks, My phone suddenly lost its touch sensitivity completely. I had it rooted and it's running on a Vietnamese custom ROM then recently updated it to the latest Jelly-bean with the stock ROM and root-removed. And, this problem only happen in the lock screen. If I've got through the lock screen(If the sensitivity works), everything works fine. Also, all the hard keys work fine throughout this problem.
I've tried to install different ROMs and factory reset several times but nothing worked. I brought it to te store where I bought it the other day and they told me that this can be fixed but it'd cost more than a new one.
Here is the picture of the phone if you're not familiar with it:
(This phone is also running on the new stock ROM)

Yesterday when I was going to sleep, I had my phone plugged in when I received a text. I attempted to unlock the phone, and it wouldn't! I started freaking out a bit, finally was able to unlock it, but had a tough time replying using the keyboard. It seemed the screen was spazzing out. When I unplugged the phone, everything was fine. I installed the free Paint application and ran some tests. As can be seen, using a charger that outputs > 850mA (the stock charger's value) is no good for touch sensitivity. If anyone can chime in with other concerns, that would be very helpful. I find that the 1000mA charger definitely charges the phone faster; does anyone think that this is bad for the phone (aside from the screen issue)?
I misread the stock charger's amperage initially; I thought it was 250mA, which is why I'm using the 1000mA. I think for now I'll switch to the stock charger. I would like to use the 1000mA if any other users think that would be fine. I don't have a problem unplugging it to use it.

When you place your Droid in the dock, the dock home screen automatically appears. I noticed recently that when I sit my Droid on top of my iHome (yes, I have an iPod), the dock home screen appears as if I had just placed it into my dock. For some reason or another, the iHome is forcing my Droid into dock mode. Any ideas as to why this happens? Also, can anyone reproduce this?

I have seen the Droid docks available now and I been a bit disappointed so far. I have been thinking about making a custom dock out of woven carbon fiber (or woven black glass) for a while now, for a truly high-tech, stealth look and was wondering if anyone else might be interested in this as well. The set-up and making the mold will be the initial time and monetary investment, but if anyone else is interested then it might be worthwhile. I would love to share my ideal, cutting edge, dock with you, and I am very interested in if anyone else would be interested in buying this kind of dock in the near future.
I am still in the concept phase now and my vision is an "airfoil" shaped base with a magnetic back support and solid mounted USB connection. Please let me know if you are interested in this concept, or if you have any other ideas or suggestions. If the interest is there, I will definitely fabricate and offer this design to those who are also interested.

I bought the car dock and I do not like it. I wish you could just set the phone in the car dock and have it charge without plugging in the charging cable separately. Would it be possible to use the multimedia dock as a car dock? It seems like the only difference is the polarity of the magnet. Can that easily be reversed (cut out and turned around)? I already have an adapter to plug the USB cable into. 3M makes a great double-sided automobile tape that would hold the dock to the dashboard. Anyone with a multimedia dock willing to try it out and report back?

There are two parts, the circular disc that sticks to the glass and then the actual holder which suctions against the disc. Do y'all leave the holder attached at all times? Even when you get out of the car? Or do you take it on and off as you use it? I'm just wondering how secure that disc is to the glass.

OK, so there's not too much customizing you can do with the desk dock screen. There are only 12 icon positions spread out over 3 screens. But what have you done to get it like you like it?I've just got my Calender, Sound Hound (in case I hear something on the TV or radio I want to tag), my Music, and my Photos slide show.If I wanna make a call or check the weather, it's here. The "All lables" folder is Apps Organizer where I can access all of my apps and games without leaving the dock screen for the landscape home screen. My internet screen where I can toggle WiFi, check e-mail, browse, or watch YouTube videos.
