Motorola Droid X :: Want To Change Phone Contact To Google Contact
Jul 18, 2010When adding new contacts to the droid x, it added it as both a goggle contact and phone contact. (i only have one goggle account setup). I went into contacts -> menu -> more -> settings. I am UNABLE to check/unchecked the "Phone Contacts" (it is always checked). The goggle one i am able to check/unchecked. WHY and HOW can i toggle the phone contact? Also, backup assistant only takes PHONE contacts and not GOOGLE contacts...while g mail contact sync only takes goggle contacts and NOT PHONE contacts. How can one change phone contact to goggle contact? (i have seen posts all over but no answers...and just replies saying "i have the same problem") I am trying NOT to have two (2) different types of contacts. PHONE and GOOGLE. I just want goggle contacts ( or phone contacts. so i can at least use verizon's backup assistant.

Dec 10, 2009My contacts came from my Gmail account, which was very convenient.
But I noticed that if I change a contact on the Droid the changes are NOT synced back to Gmail.
At the moment if I look on the Droid for Contacts/Accounts/ me@gmail.com, I see Sync is ON, Calendar is synced up to present time, Mail is synced up to present, but Contacts are synced until 2. December only!
The sync symbol appears at Contacts, but the date and time isn't changing, it stays at 2. December.

Dec 10, 2009I have 2 questions though.
1 - how do I change the alert notification for my calendar? Originally it was just the standard alert. When I view the settings there was the option to use the standard droid alert of use a ringtone. So, playing around I cheeked use a ring tone. It brought me to a directory(?) or folder with 4 songs that I had downloaded using railio(sp) ringtones. Now that's the only place I can get to for ALL alerts and ringtones. Even for my contacts it goes to the 4 songs I downloaded from railio ringtones and I can't navigate anywhere else.
I have gone into manage applications and uninstalled the ringtone program, but still can't get out of that spot for my alerts and ringtones. It's driving me crazy!
2 - My contacts have multiple entries for one person.
How can I delete the multiple entries for a contact? When I edit the contact information for a person I see 3 - 5 duplicate entries for one contact. When I first got my droid I synced with 2 google accounts - I didn't know what I was doing --- so, the information under one contact is repeated many times.
Android :: Where To Find Contact View In Droid?
Aug 9, 2010I notice that some of the base applications in Android are using this little control (View in Android terms I guess) that shows the contact picture. When you click on the picture it shows all the ways of contacting the person (phone, sms, talk, facebook). I see this little View used in the contact app, sms app, twitter for android, facebook for android etc.
Is there a library or a way of getting this working on my own application or do I need to write this from scratch?

Nov 29, 2009I'm used to my contacts being under a contacts setting/button/tangible thing. I had my contacts transferred into Google Contacts, which now sync to my phone. Is there a special way to have contacts actually on your SD card? Or do i just need to keep google sync on. I tried turning it off for battery purposes, but then all my contacts went away. I've set up HTC People, but I still don't know how to like just view my contacts, or quickly add a new person. Sorry if this is very newb, I just waited a really long time to get a smart phone, and the only one I've gotten to use has been an iPhone since i deal with them at work everyday.

The main negative of this is that I can not sync these contacts. Does anyone know of way to change the contact type? My phone is rooted if that makes a difference.In another thread relating to this someone mentioned an app that fixes this but I could not find it. Does anyone know of the app?

That custom view is placed three times in a LinearLayout, so it looks like this:

I have attached a click event listener to the View, so it is clickable. But then I click it, I cant see that I am clicking it - there is no change in color.
So, Im thought that I'd attach a "onPress" listener, and then change the background of the view but I couldnt find such a listener.
So, the question is - how do I create the behaviour on the View so I can see that it is being pressed? this is normally done in Android with a green background to indicate that it is now being pressed.

I want keep them as separate Google contact entries.But the problem is that the name that the linking software has chosen to represent the account is the one for the SMS-email (e.g. "Bob Smith SMS Email").I want the name that I see in various contact lists to just be "Bob Smith".The thing is that the account with the normal email and phone number is the one set as the default, so I know the Droid is not picking up the name of the default account and using it as the "main" name.I remember once, when I was linking and unlinking accounts, that it asked me what name to use as the main name.But I can't figure out how to get back to that.

Apr 12, 2010Just like to say thanks for all the help people have given me in the past, this forum has been great. My Desire is fantastic, does some odd things now and then but essential it is ok (like once the camera wouldn't work but the camcorder would? then it just started working again, the weather widget pops up quite a bit as does the desktop clock but I can just cancel them so no real big deal). Anyway, what I would like to know is when I pull up my contacts in the phonebook, there is a primary method of contact associated with some of them. I take it that this is automatically assigned the first time I contact that person. Does anyone know how I can change the primary method of contact?
