It seems to look and feel exactly like 2.1, which wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting the lockscreen to be different (the horizontal one). Is that a feature of Sense? Do I HAVE to get rid of Sense to install that?
Also: Now I am unable to add custom fields to even my Google contacts (earlier I couldn't do it for phone contacts, but it was possible for Google contacts). Is that a problem with this ROM? What ROM should I install to have this feature?
I just changed my themes on my HTC & now my phone wont work. Keep getting error 'The application HTC Sense (process.com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force Close. I have turned it on & off, took the battery out, took the sim card out but still get the same error & now can't use my phone, any ideas guys what to do

My Desire is fantastic, does some odd things now and then but essential it is ok (like once the camera wouldn't work but the camcorder would? then it just started working again, the weather widget pops up quite a bit as does the desktop clock but I can just cancel them so no real big deal). Anyway, what I would like to know is when I pull up my contacts in the phonebook, there is a primary method of contact associated with some of them. I take it that this is automatically assigned the first time I contact that person. Does anyone know how I can change the primary method of contact?

I would just like a slicker font as my system font.Also is there a rooted 2.2 rom worth using yet? and where do i get it?

When i clicked on the MUSIC button i noticed a few pre-loaded songs and i could move from one song to another by slidding my finger across the screen. When i downloaded my own songs(and deleted the pre-loaded ones) the phone just wouldn't move from one song to another by slidding my finger across the screen. And about the wifi. I use the POWER CONTROL widget. When i pressed the button for wifi, it started connecting and the green line under the button appeared and a few moments later(2 sec) also that sign on top of the screen. But i wanted to remove my google account so i had to use the option FACTORY DATA RESET. Now when i click that wifi button it starts connecting and that green line under the button appears, however now it takes 5 seconds or more for that sign on top of the screen to appear(before that sign appears i can't use my wifi connection).
View 12 Replies View RelatedWhen adding new contacts to the droid x, it added it as both a goggle contact and phone contact. (i only have one goggle account setup). I went into contacts -> menu -> more -> settings. I am UNABLE to check/unchecked the "Phone Contacts" (it is always checked). The goggle one i am able to check/unchecked. WHY and HOW can i toggle the phone contact? Also, backup assistant only takes PHONE contacts and not GOOGLE contacts...while g mail contact sync only takes goggle contacts and NOT PHONE contacts. How can one change phone contact to goggle contact? (i have seen posts all over but no answers...and just replies saying "i have the same problem") I am trying NOT to have two (2) different types of contacts. PHONE and GOOGLE. I just want goggle contacts ( or phone contacts. so i can at least use verizon's backup assistant.

The main negative of this is that I can not sync these contacts. Does anyone know of way to change the contact type? My phone is rooted if that makes a difference.In another thread relating to this someone mentioned an app that fixes this but I could not find it. Does anyone know of the app?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI keep thinking I must be overlooking something, yet I can't seem to get the contact search to work, beyond searching the first name and last name fields. I want to be able to search by organization and nickname as well. This works fine in the browser with Google contacts, but in the phone / contacts app in Android (2.0, Droid), it doesn't work. I could do this search on my Pilot 1000 in 1995. Could a Google search function really be this bad? Tell me it isn't so. What am I missing?

I'd like to add a custom field for contacts, that contains the contacts username on a website I'm doing this app for. I am able to insert a new phone number to an existing contact record but unable to delete or modify existing phone number records of a contact. Is there a way to either: - delete an existing phone number from a contact record. or - update an existing phone number of a contact record.
The sample code is as shown below:

The row value is always 0 even if phone numbers are present. Thus, the deletion does not take place. To update a phone number:

In my app, I am using below code to obtain all contacts with PHOTO_ID:

The app has a list view to display all contacts and use the ContactPhotoLoader in the stock contact app to load the contact photo async. When running, some contact photo can be displayed correctly and some cannot.
When clicking on the list items, the app will start the view contact activity of the stock contacts app:

For the contacts, which photo cannot be displayed properly, is able to display correctly in the stock view contact activity. I have compared the source code of the stock contacts app and my app. They are doing the same thing basically. I have also checked for the permissions used by my app are covered the set of permissions used by the stock contacts app.
I cant get my contact pictures to show up with this app. I did check show contact pictures but still nada. Anyone have this issue?

When I create or download any notification sound it won't show up on the list when I try to make it a custom but it will show for my default list. Apparently I did it somehow because one of my notification tones I created appeared on the list but that's it. How to add to that list?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo today i was looking at my contacts and i noticed that anyone who has a facebook account and is linked to my contacts, has 5 linked contacts in their info. thos 5 linked contacts all being repeats of the facebook contact. its like each contact is linked to itself 5 times. i tried deleting the extra ones but it says i cannot delete a read only contact and i tried displaying only my phone contacts and disabled contact sync with my facebook account but they are still showing up. any idea of what to do?

I have been looking to try to choose one of my ringtones for notification confirmations as well as received calls. All that I have found are the OS ringtones for those 2 operations. (ringtone: DROID)
I have found how to choose from my custom ringtones only for individual contact. how I can get my ringtones to be seen or where to place them so that the Droid sees them?
I have my default ring tone set. I then went under contacts and set certain ring tones for my wife, family etc... I had my wife call me and it rings with the default ring tone. I have tried everything and nothing seems to change. Anyone that calls that I have a preset ring tone for, it just uses the default for the phone.

I've done a good bit of searching on this and it seems to work as long as the contact is stored on the phone however the option is NOT there when it's a contact sync'd from Google.

On my HTC Legend (HTC Sense with Android 2.1) if you go to add and folder from a homescreen you have a choice of All people, Facebook Phonebook, Phones, Starred (Favorites). Is it possible to create another folder that will hold members of a contact group that I have created? I can create a new empty folder but don't know how to put contacts into this instead of other home screen icons (this would do if I can't use contact groups).
