View 1 Replies View RelatedMy desk at work is basically in a cellular dead zone. No Wi-Fi either... But I was wondering, I have a brand new Mac Pro with bluetooth capability and AirPort (and USB, of course). Is there a way that I could have my Droid 2 connect to my Mac and use its network connection to access the interwebs? I'm not worried about making calls...
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an unrooted S4 on ATT. I bought it 4.2.2, but I was given the 4.4.2 upgrade a few weeks ago. It's my understanding that KitKat devices will have a reverse phone lookup automatically built into the phone, displaying the name of any business that has that number listed on Google Places/Local.
It doesn't seem to work on my phone. Is this feature for KitKat devices moving forward where 4.4 is native to the phone, or are any devices on that version able to use that feature?
I can't seem to enable or or get it to work...I did some shopping yesterday and had customer services at a few stores call my phone just to see if it worked, but alas it did not. I need to do a factory reset because "old data and new data do not mix" but I have serious trepidations about doing the factory reset because I am skeptical it would change anything. The update changed enough on my phone, I find it hard to believe that some features would work, and others wouldn't.
Someone else in the aforementioned thread said they have the Google edition and enabled "Caller ID by Google". However, Under Call Settings>Additional Settings>CallerID> there are 3 options, each with a radio button: Network Default, Hide Number, Show Number. Currently Network Default is enabled, but no mention of Google.
How would i go about reverse engineer what i have on my phone into a project in eclipse. To clarify, i want to create project where i have all the source code that was used to set up my stock phone.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI posted b this in the troubleshooting forum, but few people look there, I guess. I tried to update mixing and it failed a few times. I didn't think much about it until I decided to spring for the paid version. I bought it, but it wouldn't upload either. So I went to un install mixing in hopes that a fresh re-install would fix the problem, but there's no option to un install. I have my apps backed up, so I tried un installing mixzing that way, but it fails. The app itself works fine. Mixing may have been bundled with UD 9.8, my current ROM, but I'm not sure. I guess ultimately what I need help with is completely removing the app so I can start with a fresh install.(Switching, or even reinstalling the ROM is simply not an option. It takes me days to get my phone back the way I like it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having an issue with my stock Settings manager being missing after a miss-click by my girlfriend when she was using my phone. She accidentally hit the "Install" for the FRG22d when I had my droid running the original 2.2 rooted. It installed, and came back up. Root was gone, and so was the option to use Settings. It still shows when I hit the menu button, but if I select it, nothing happens. And it is also no longer listed in my app drawer now. I re-rooted my phone hoping it would bring it back, but it's still gone. Can I reinstall the APK for it? If so, how would I go about doing that?
View 6 Replies View RelatedEverytime I open up the yahoo messenger app it literally makes my DX burning hot drains the hell out of my battery, and it slows to a crawl. Shutting down the app only seems to help if it hasn't been open for very long and I normally have to do a complete phone restart to get it back to normal.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI just got my eris yesterday (posting with it now), and I am finding typing in landscape quite uncomfortable while headphones are plugged in (i listen to a lot of music). The plug is vertical and doesn't allow me to grip the phone naturally. So, I was wondering if there was a simple way to get the reverse of landscape view. As in the eris's physical buttons would be to the left while typing instead of the right.

View 21 Replies View RelatedI just bought my Droid X a couple of weeks ago (2.2 and Rooted). It wanted to do some auto app updates and I told it to do them all not sure if it was before or after that that I noticed a red light by the ear "piece/speaker" and the phone was on and a battery level warning came on which I thought was premature. I plugged in the power cord the light went to green and I looked over a few minutes later and it was dead. I could be a little off on what happened when but that's what happened.
It wont power on now and I've tried holding a few different buttons while powering on and still nothing. I did check the settings the other day and it was successfully backing itself up not sure how to use that backup though. I just looked over after typing this post and the Motorola "M" was on the screen but I couldn't get it to do anything so I pulled the battery and tried again to boot it and nothing.
I thought this thread might be a good way for developers to see the type of apps that people want, and hopefully write them.
I would like an app that shows me on a map which cell tower my phone is using, signal strength, etc.
Droid X - Configured with a Google Apps Premiere, working great. Attempting to add a personal GMail account. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to Reverse GeoCode current Lat/Long data to just Admin Area and Sub Admin Area using the Geocoder class.
I am using the NETWORK_PROVIDER as the Location provider. Here is the code that I use and it works. The problem is sometimes it does not give me any location sometimes it does.
Android Manifest permissions I am using.
CODE:.............
Here is the rest of the code that does give me correct location from time to time but nothing at other times.
CODE:..............
Are there restrictions with the network providers how frequently you can request location data?
How can I make sure that everytime its run this can give me valid location data.
Thanks in advance for any insight into this.
PS: I have run this code on my real device running Froyo 2.2 (Verizon Wireless). Target API Level 8.
This is what I got from my debugging.
Latitude Longitude is always fetched but the getFromLocation often returns null for the latitude longitude data passed to it. So what should be the workaround? May be pass the Lat/Long info to Google Maps API for reverse geocoding. Will be glad to receive any input.
I have a G1 and I now have an app named MapDroid BUT so slow to download the maps. If I could hook up my G1 to a computer at the internet cafe that has a ASDL connection it would go much faster AND I would be able to do something else beside watch the yellow bar slooooooowly move. I am not in the USA. One guy said the best way is buy a Bluetooth drive that looks like a flash drive. Plug it in the PC and my G1 should get internet. Not sure. I think files would work but not sure about internet. If the cable won't work then why should bluetooth?

I was informed of the new android update and the perks mentioned seemed pretty impressive. Upon installing the new update I regretted it instantly; the phone is slower, the layout is ugly and choppy unlike the sleek and smooth previous layout and the backup and restore is abysmal, all of my contacts are registered in the messaging (which also looks awful and is terribly confusing) but not in my contacts section. Is there anyway to reverse the upgrade, because I seriously dislike the new one. It is awful to put it bluntly.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI find that geocoder apis particularly getFromLocation using Lat and Lnt is not very reliable. I am noticing this behavior more after I upgraded to android 2.2 on my Droid. I get an invalid argument exception for Latitude. The funny thing it is not consistent in this behavior.
