Dec 28, 2009I tried the steps above, and it didn't work. I then compared it to the steps on the other link, and there it says to do mtdblock4, not mtdblock3
So I typed mtdblock4 instead, and I rebooted from the adb shell in the computer.
The boot animation went fine, and then when I got to my homescreen, I freaked out!
It is all black. Instead of the unlock button, there is a green button with an airplane symbol on it. It says NO SERVICE.
The bar IS transparent, but it has these weird symbols on it, not the normal ones.
AND, to make it worse, EVERYTHING is force closing. I'm getting messages after messages of force closing. NOTHING works.
I can't even pull down the notification bar to get mount my sdcard in order to delete the .apk file from there. All these stupid force close messages keep propping up.
Also, it says that the date is Wednesday, December 31 (the 31 is a thursday, though), and it has a time of 6 hours from now.
NOW,
I am actually still in debugging mode, and I still have access to adb shell.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? I'M FREAKING OUT HERE!
(Why oh why did I have to root my beautiful Droid! I think I killed it!)

Aug 30, 2010I sold my htc Imago with the expectation that the guy I was buying a Droid X from would not super flake on me. Say Craig list! Anyway, I've been without a working device for a week now as I wait for my DX to arrive. I just check voice mail a couple times a day to make sure I'm not missing anything important. On the other hand, I have to imagine I have a serious back log of texts. A buddy of mine said he thought the DX (which my wife currently has) could be configured to retrieve texts from more than one account (phone number). Is that possible? Is there any other way to retrieve text messages other than with an activated device?

Dec 9, 2009I have recently been having issues with text messaging. About half of the texts that I try to send end up in a "pending" state. If you go to the factory messaging, and long press on a message, there is an option to "View Report" and that is where it has the pending status. I can't seem to figure out a rhyme or reason to this, but they don't actually get sent to the people I'm trying to send them to. Does anyone have any ideas? I've been fine with the stock messaging program, but would Handcent fix this? I'm up for trying anything at this point, as long as I can text and be sure the people are going to get them. BTW I was hoping the 2.0.1 update would fix this, but I force loaded the update and it's still doing it.

Aug 21, 2010I have a rooted 2.2 DX, and on 2.1 when I got a new text it would jump to the top of the list with a blue dot next to it. Now ever since I upgraded to 2.2 I still get the blue dot next to my unread text messages but it doesn't jump to the top of the list. I don't know if that is just how froyo works now or if it's an issue just on my phone.

Nov 23, 2010I gave my wife my D2, did a factory reset on it beforehand. She's been playing on it now for almost a week with no problem until today..
It started off with her gallery, when you try to go into the gallery it will kick you right back out into the launcher. I can use astro to get to her pics but any pics she takes now won't work. So then she went into her messaging app, all it does is cycle, it won't load up any messages at all.. I really don't know what's wrong with it, trying to avoid a factory reset if I can, but I will if it's my only option.

The only program I can see that could be causing it is SMS Pop Up, but I don't know if that is a culprit or has been known to do that. One problem though, and big because I text a lot - I notice my text messages are being delayed. They often come maybe 5 minutes later in groups of 3 or however many on in queue. It looks as if my phone is only checking periodically... how can I troubleshoot this? Perhaps it's a signal issue but I can still send texts and also receive calls.
