Motorola Droid :: Phone Won't Turn On / How To Fix?
Apr 13, 2010So my phone just turned itself off when I had just restarted it and it will not come back on. I've tried battery pull(and letting it sit there several minutes), sd card pull, charging it while there isn't a battery in the phone, and charging it with the battery plugged in.I can't get the phone to come back on. I'm rooted with CM(no overclock kernel). Do you guys think if I take it to verizon to get the warranty replacement I will get a 570 dollar charge after they replace it? What I mean is do you think they will be able to test it and figure out it wasn't stock and bill me.Also, do you guys have any ideas on how to get it to come back on?

Aug 25, 2010I was at the Carolina Panthers game this past Saturday along with about 50,000 other people. I noticed that I only had 1x service most of the time. Didn't pay much attention to it at first. Well, I entered the stadium with 50% battery charge with an extended battery. Took a couple pics and texted about 10 txts. Well, towards halftime, all of a sudden my battery went to 5% then died, no warning. I assume that all of those people sucking up 3g made my phone continuously search for it hardcore. Anyone have a way to turn off 3g on the X?

It says Battery OK, OK to Program Connect USB Data Cable. When I plugged it in I got a driver failure instantly (win 7) so maybe someone else will have better luck.

I leave the phone sitting on my desk and I miss messages all the time because the phone doesn't kick on and I have the volume turned all the way down or off. But if the phone would light up, I would notice that.

Dec 22, 2009Well, what happened was my screen turned blank. I could not turn off the phone. It was just blank. The buttons on the bottom of the phone will light on and off when pressing the power button. What am i suppose to do in this situation or any other situation where my Droid isnt acting right? Well, i didnt know what to do so i just took out the battery and put it back in. I am not sure if thats the proper way of doing it. I hope my phone will be okay after that. So, whats the right way of going at it?

Apr 4, 2010Yesterday I clicked the update button on my droid, and now my droid is dead, all that appears is the motorola logo, even after pulling the battery. Of course technical support at Verizon has no clue what is wrong. The phone will not even turn off unless i take the battery out, the motorola logo shows until the phone goes dead.
As this is my second droid, I don't know that I want a 3rd one. My opinion is that the droid would be a neat smartphone-- if it worked. I doubt that anyone could ever consider using the droid as a business phone, since it randomly quits working. I've had many cell phones and blackberries and never had to return any of them.
I have the best buy protection plan, but not sure that entitles me to a new or different phone, since my droid is about 3 months old.

Nov 14, 2009I turned off haptic feedback, but when I dial a number it vibrates with every keypress. This is NOT the keyboard, but the numeric onscreen keypad when making a call. How do I turn this off? Super annoying, makes the phone lag when dialing fast. Thanks.

Nov 6, 2010I'm looking for an app that'll help me find my phone via GPS without always having to have GPS enabled. I have Wave Secure and it doesn't have an option to turn my GPS on remotely, Lookout Mobile Security is the same way and Where's My Droid app requires GPS to be previously enabled.
The Internet location ability's accuracy within 200-1000ft radius doesn't seem useful if my phones stolen. I don't think walking from door to door, trying to listen in on each house for my alarm would work out too well.
Any app that could turn my GPS on remotely via codeword text or Internet site would be extremely useful.

Aug 20, 2010Ok not sure where I'm going wrong. Here's everything I have done. Starting with stock DX
- Used UniversalRoot to gain root access
- Installed and ran Titanium Backup, backup saved to SDcard
- Reran UniversalRoot and unrooted
- Flashed with SBF, seemed successful but my user data was still intact
- Booted to stock system recovery, wiped data/factory reset & wipe cache
- apply sdcard:update.zip
E:signature verification failed Installation aborted

Sep 23, 2010I tried downloading and installing froyo OTA tonight and it rebooted and a status bar showed up. After about a third of the way into it an "!" icon appeared and the phone instantly rebooted. Upon reboot i got a message saying System update failed!I'm running 2.1 rooted - but all bloatware etc i've kept. Also running LP. Do i need to unroot before updating? I haven't read anything that says I need to.

Aug 23, 2010Got my droid rooted, installed rom manager, d/l a rom to the sd card- lfy. I booted in recovery from rom manager, and all I get is the screen with the triangle and exclamation point. Camera button + vol up gets me a menu, one of which is about the sd card, with the file name "update zip" (I re named the lfy file to this). When its selected, it runs through some lines of script, then says something like "aborted, signature verification failed" I then have it re boot, and my phone is the same as it was before.I have read posts that say wipe, others say don't wipe! Since in a first timer, I decided to wipe, and if I'm remembering right, when you select wipe, there are three options, I did the first, the factory reset one, but did not do the other two, can't remember what they were called exactly, but had not read anything that specifically said to wipe them, so for fear of really messing something up, I left those alone.In reading more, it sounds like clockwork mod recovery is not working? I guess I'm getting the stock recovery screen? Since I renamed the file update.zip, shouldn't this work? I know this has all probably been answered, and I searched, but came up with a bunch of threads on other phone species too. Obviously I'm a noob at this, and there have been more sweaty palms and adrenaline rushes for fear of killing my droid than I have experienced in a long time! Does someone have a solution to this that even I can understand?

Aug 31, 2010I decided to go ahead and flash back to 2.1. Now all my phone does is go back and forth from "Droid" to the eye over and over again. I have to pull the battery to stop it. The flash process seemed to go smoothly until the phone booted up. RSDLite had said to manually start the phone, but it had already booted on its own.

Oct 16, 2010I am trying to use RSD Lite to SBF to 2.2 OTA but it keeps on giving me the dreaded Failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. (0x7100); phone connected. I am running Windows 7 x64 and have the latest Moto drivers installed (4.7.1) and am running RSD Lite 4.8. I put my phone in bootloader mode and connected my USB. It is showing iup in port 1, but I am also getting a lot of N/A values. Is this normal?

Jun 8, 2010I've been playing around with the new releases of Froyo 2.2. It appears that sweeter home is not compatible with the new 2.2. Man! i have emailed the dev the bug reports. I am hoping that a new release will be coming very soon. Hopefully we can get some kind of the eta on the new release. And just when sweeterhome was virtually bug free!
