Jul 23, 2010Anyone notice that when you finish a text in the landscape keyboard and hit send, it doesn't send. It just goes back to the thread and you have to hit send again

Verbage:
Keyboard Manager allows you to customize what keyboard (input method) appear on input based on your phone orientation.
It displays the keyboards you have enabled on your android device, and let you select one per orientation (landscape/portrait).
As your phone switch orientation, the app automatically switch the keyboard.
Requirements:
- Rooted android device (app was tested on Samsung captivate 2.1)
- Root Explorer app, or similar app that allows you to edit the permissions of a file.
To install:
1- Download the app (KeyboardManager.apk) on your device sdcard.
2- Using Root Explorer, move the apk file to /system/app
3- Using Root Explorer, edit the file permissions like below:
-- User: 'Read/Write' checked
--Group: 'Read' checked
--Others: 'Read' checked
4- Exit Root Explorer
The app should be visible in your launcher as 'Keyboard Manager'
Update:
- Added option to disable notification icon
-' start on boot' feature is disabled because it's not yet complete and tested... Sorry for the confusion
Bugs:
-On certain applications (i.e: Messaging on Samsung Captivate), the input window occasionally freeze on orientation switch. Exiting the app, and resuming should fix it.
The app is still in development.
Motorola Droid 2 :: No Landscape Mode When Not Using Keyboard
Nov 12, 2010I got my Droid 2 (or as it is called in Germany Milestone 2) just this week. I got two minor things that are bugging me. (see the other one here Is it possible to reconfigure the keyboard?) Otherwise I'm loving my new phone. I got the auto-adjust option for the Display turned on but for some reason the screen won't switch to the landscape mode as long as I don't pull out the physical keyboard. That is only the case for the homescreens and the main app menu. Otherwise it works fine. For example, if I open the settings I get to look at them in landscape mode with the keyboard in our out.

Nov 11, 2009I cant get the browser to automatically change orientation as I change my phone's orientation. The only time it goes into landscape mode is if I pull out the physical keyboard. Note that I don't want to select The option to always force landscape mode.

I am unable to send anything using that, but everything else such as FROM MY PHONE, Picasa, FB, it works fine.I know I am logged in correctly cause I am getting my emails when they hit my inbox, and I get notified, but when trying to send.

Feb 10, 2010I just got my Droid Eris. It was working fine to go back and forth between landscape and upright, until I calibrated the G-sensor. Now I'm not sure what's going on. I'm not sure if I've done the calibration correctly (I assume you just sit it upright on a flat surface?) or what. It will randomly go into landscape mode, but then I can't get it back upright unless I go to the home screen.

May 24, 2010When outside or in the car, the landscape brightness of my Eris is rather dim making viewing difficult but when I switch back to the portrait view the screen is of normal brightness. Inside, switching from portrait to landscape viewing is not an issue. This was happening while on 1.5 as well. I have looked and played around with settings but can not seem to find a solution. Any suggestions?Another quirk, that arose with 2.1, is the keyboard. It seems to easily go to all caps, numbers, or exits with the slightest variance off of the A, M or the space key. My daughter's Eris is having the same issue with the keyboard. Any suggestions for a better keyboard?Eris is my first smart phone and I am loving the experience.

May 26, 2010So the "minimize keyboard" button in the lower left of the landscape qwerty keyboard works maybe every 5th time. I only started noticing this after the 2.1 OTA. However my wife has the 2.1 on her Eris as well and hers works perfectly. If I make sure to push the very top edge of the button, it works fine, but just pressing it normally in the middle rarely works. Perhaps there is something wrong with that corner if the screen.

Jan 17, 2010I just got the Eris today and I was wondering if there was a way to calibrate the screen. I don't know if it's normal, but when I use the Home/Menu/Back sensors, I have to touch the very top of the icon in order for it to work. Also, are you supposed to be able to get the landscape view/keyboard when inputting contacts?
I hope I don't have to exchange it.

Sep 3, 2010My Hero is frequently haven't problems with failed SMS messages. It's increased since I upgraded the handset to Three's official 2.1 upgrade, although it had a habit of failing messages when it was running 1.5, too.
Three have swapped my handset because of previous issues with it, so it would appear to be a network/ Android issue.

Sep 20, 2010It's my understanding that due to the WiMAX connection, you can use data features while on a call (in WiMAX serviceable markets). That being said, I would assume that you cannot send SMS/MMS messages due to the fact that they require CDMA for their transport. Can someone test this out and report back?

But I got an error said that No applications can perform this action. My android sdk is cupcake1.5, and I have already set up my gmail acount in Email application. Anyone knows why? If I set the type as "*/*"(sendIntent.setType("*/ *");), it can launch the Email activity but with no attachment.

Sep 27, 2010In the past few days, ive noticed that when i delete an email on my phone, it doesnt actually delete it from my gmail, as i can still log into my computer and the emails are still there and unread. Then i noticed today that i cant send email from the phone. I have 2 emails that have been "sending" for the past hour. Ive tried both over 3g and wifi, neither worked. Im on the 9/25 nightly, a somewhat recent gapps (not sure of the date), but just upgraded the gmail through the market. Any ideas?

Oct 19, 2010Ive noticed that when I send a text and the phone is out of signal, it just says, "FAILED" and calls it a day. I miss my blackberry in this respect, it would wait until it DID have signal and then would automatically resend. Is there any way to set this phone up so it automatically resends when I get signal back? I do get it sometimes where it says that its saving the texts until signal is rereached, however, lets say I get one bar back, well the phone "sees" that Im getting signal, tries to send, and then fails, and then calls it a day....

Oct 14, 2010My sister recently got the Droid 2 mainly because of the physical keyboard. As far as the camera and the ability to use the internet goes she loves the phone. However, its really,really laggy. I have a Droid Incredible and I am amazed at the lag between switching home screens and the launching of apps on the 2. She also said that she has a problem with the phone sending texts to the wrong person. Does anyone else experience these sort of problems?
So my question is are there and Droid 2 users that got rid of their phone and found another Android Verizon phone that they like a lot?

Jul 3, 2010I was typing on my keyboard (landscape view) and noticed that the "Y" key didn't work. I though it was nothing, until I tried to exit out of my navigation app, but the exit button wouldn't work. So i downloaded a draw app to see it maybe it was just my screen, and what do you know, i was able to draw swiping up and down holding the phone upright. But when trying it side to side, a whole panel doesn't work. wth? Tried to reboot and nothing. Anyone else have this issue? Looks like its back to sprint this evo goes. Peep the pics.

Portrait appears to work fine, but when switching the emulator to Landscape, it appears to be working on the premise that a hard keyboard is in operation. HTC EVO 4G : Anyone Experience Bad Lag With Keyboard Switching To Landscape?
Jun 6, 2010I'm not sure if it's normal, but for the built-in messaging app, it takes literally about 9-12 seconds to switch to landscape keyboard when tilted.
Similarly, with eBuddy, the messaging app, it tends to take 5-7 seconds. Is it just me or is that really slow? I don't expect it to be instantaneous, but taking more than 3 seconds or so seems a bit much. Anyone else having issues?
