Motorola Droid :: Tactile Feedback For Phone Keypad / Turn This Off?
Nov 14, 2009
I turned off haptic feedback, but when I dial a number it vibrates with every keypress. This is NOT the keyboard, but the numeric onscreen keypad when making a call. How do I turn this off? Super annoying, makes the phone lag when dialing fast. Thanks.

When you turn haptic feedback off, should the slider and the little arrows to change the home screens will vibrate?Or is this a bug like on the Droid 2?

The HTC Hero is my first experience with a virtual keyboard. It takes some getting used to but I have adapted rather quickly - to the point that I actually like it better. The self-correcting feature is great. It catches nearly all my mistakes and fixes them on the fly.
However - I don't know if I've gotten better or my phone has gotten slower - but it seems to lag behind my typing now. I discovered that if I turn off the vibrate feedback feature that it speeds up considerably. I would think that anybody who gets really fast at typing on their Hero is eventually going to have to turn that off.

It's not a huge deal, I actually don't mind having it on it's just in the interest of conserving battery life I'd quite like to get rid of it. It really don't seem to want to turn off though! I've tried restarting the device but it's still there.

I am curious if there is a way to either turn down or completely turn off the beep beep beep when you press numbers for a phone number. That drives me nuts!
I tried looking in settings, but I am either overlooking it or it is worded differently than my old phone. Any suggestions?

I have the Haptic Feedback option unchecked in the phone's settings yet I still get haptic feedback when using other apps such as Handcent and Facebook. I did not see an option for haptic feedback in the Handcent options. What do I need to do to turn it off?

So with the new update (which is smooth as hell by the way), Heptic feedback won't turn off, even with it checked as "off". Anyone else experiencing this? I am not trying to complain, but I do believe this is an option that should have been tested, so this is the first glitch I have noticed so far. Other than that, its looking good. Anyone else?

I think I found a bug in 2.0.1. If you power on your Droid in the dark, the keypad backlight does not work. You have to go to Setting -> Display and manually unclick the "Auto" and reclick it back.Anyway to get it to work is to power the droid is a lighted room and everything will work fine. I think somehow the light sensor got screw up when it is dark to start with.

I use Haptic Feedback for texting because I don't like that loud clicky noise, it's annoying. So my question is - considering that I text alot, is it possible for haptic feedback to lose it's "feedback" as to where it's not as "rumbly" anymore?

just curious, who uses haptic feedback and who doesnt? i wouldn't go so far as to say that i love it but it definitely feels weird to not use. i've been using it since i got my phone and i tried turning it off yesterday (to see if there's any real impact to battery life with/without haptic feedback) but i couldn't deal so now it's back on. thoughts?

I was wondering if anyone knows if the ribbon for the Droid2's are the same as the Droid1's. I have been using a friends R2D2, and I absolutely love the spaced out keypad. Does anyone know if they work in the Droid1's or should I just buy one and find out for everyone?

Do you guys have any feedback/fix for the declining reception issue on the Moto Droid? I forced the 2.1 update. It seems like i have less signal strength for 3G now for some reason. It keeps switching back and forth from 3G to 1x and it is not as strong in places it used to be.

Anyone elses Haptic feedback on the 4 touch-buttons make a "crack" sound sometimes? I noticed that I hear it more when I hold the phone in landscape with the screen slid up. It still vibrates, but it also delivers a very interesting crackling sound and the vibrate usually feels weaker than normal when this happens. I think I will turn it off because it always feels like i'm breaking it by pressing them too much lmao.

Has anyone here noticed that the haptic feedback on their droid is inconsistent? Not that different keys/inputs have different feedback levels (which is obviously intentional), but that occasionally and seemingly for no reason a key like "return," "home," or even an on-screen numeric key will have an unusually powerful vibrate?

Is there any way to turn off the short vibration that occurs when you unlock the Droid from the lock screen? I could have sworn that when i first used the phone it was not like that. I already have haptic feedback turned off for the virtual keypad.

For anyone wanting to disable the haptic feedback on the four touch sensitive keys, install an app from the App Market called "Spare Parts". Scroll down and select disable haptic feeback and it will disable the haptic feedback on the four touch sensitive keys.

So my phone just turned itself off when I had just restarted it and it will not come back on. I've tried battery pull(and letting it sit there several minutes), sd card pull, charging it while there isn't a battery in the phone, and charging it with the battery plugged in.I can't get the phone to come back on. I'm rooted with CM(no overclock kernel). Do you guys think if I take it to verizon to get the warranty replacement I will get a 570 dollar charge after they replace it? What I mean is do you think they will be able to test it and figure out it wasn't stock and bill me.Also, do you guys have any ideas on how to get it to come back on?

I was at the Carolina Panthers game this past Saturday along with about 50,000 other people. I noticed that I only had 1x service most of the time. Didn't pay much attention to it at first. Well, I entered the stadium with 50% battery charge with an extended battery. Took a couple pics and texted about 10 txts. Well, towards halftime, all of a sudden my battery went to 5% then died, no warning. I assume that all of those people sucking up 3g made my phone continuously search for it hardcore. Anyone have a way to turn off 3g on the X?

I was on the 2.3.9 and finally updated to the 2.3.15 last night. So far the only issue I have is that I lost Haptic Feedback. I haven't seen any other posts discussing this as an issue. Anyone know why this happened? Did the update for TBH include a new build.prop that disabled this feature? Speaking of build.props I also still have 2.3.9 showing as my system version? Is there any way to know for sure you're on .15?

Is there a way to disable haptic feedback when you move your phone to silent mode? I normally carry the phone with vibrate on, but in class I'd like to set it to silent, and then I'd like it to not use haptic feedback so that I can use the phone without making a ton of noise.

Incase anyone wants to know how to get into Bootloader you turn the phone off then hold Power+Volume Down+Camera and it will go into Bootloader 2C.5C. It says Battery OK, OK to Program Connect USB Data Cable. When I plugged it in I got a driver failure instantly (win 7) so maybe someone else will have better luck.
