I turned on my Dinc this morning with no issues. I heard the phone say 'Droid' as it was booting up. I have never had an issue with sound. Now my phone will not ring and there is no media sound. I went into the menu and everything is on. I have not done anything to cause this issue. I reset the phone 2 times and still no sound.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm dialing in my Droid 2, which is replacing my previous Blackberry Tour. I am importing all my audio files for ringtones, notifications, and alarms.
I have done the following:
Connected my phone to my computer
Mounted my SD card
Created a Media folder on the card
Created an Audio sub-folder within Media
Created Ringtones, Notifications, Alarms, and MP3s folders within Audio
My custom ringtones show up when I'm selecting them in Settings, and RingDroid also shows all of my files (currently placed in Ringtones and Notifications). However, if I go to my GMail app and settings, when I go to select a custom notification ringtone, only the ones that shipped with the Droid 2 show up. I also checked Settings, and no custom notification sounds come up.
I sent some custom ringtones to my new Incredible and I was able to set my ringtone to whichever one I pleased. They show up in the available ringtones. However, I cannot set the notification sound to one of these ringtones as they don't show up in the list of available sounds. Does anyone know how to add rings or sounds to the list of notification sounds?

I can hear text and email alerts
Problem:
If I boot up the media player and select a tune, it plays but I cannot hear it
If I fire up a youtube video, it plays but again I cannot hear it
The only thing that works believe it or not is turning the thing off and on again. However a while or if I exit the youtube app or whatever it then looses sound again.
Is there a way to turn off the notification sounds at a certain time of day? I hate the sound of getting e-mail at 2 in the AM and waking me up. I have a Telus Milestone which runs v2.0.1
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Moto stereo BT headset, and find that I am having an almost impossible time of pairing it. It works to make calls, but I can never get the media sound to come through, even though it says it is connected, I think it has maybe worked twice, with constant turning off and on of both BT on the N1 and the headset.
I noticed I had a lot of problems with my G1 sometimes, but nothing this extreme, the most it would take with the G1 is 1 or 2 tries. The first time I tried it with the N1 it worked perfect, and figured it had finally been fixed, but ever since it is more of a nightmare than ever.
Is there a way to set the notification sounds to be different for emails versus texts, ect?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some pretty simple Soundboard applications on the Android Market that work flawless on an LG Ally, the Motorola Droid, and the Nexus One, but I recently received an e-mail from a user with the Motorola DroidX claiming that most of the sounds do not work. I've exchanged a few e-mails with him. He claims the Soundboard is the only application running, and he's double checked to make sure that the Media Volume wasn't set to minimum. I really don't have access to one either to play around with. The application isn't doing anything cosmic to play the sounds. Below is a code snippet. Any insights into what might be causing the hang up are greatly appreciated.

I synchronize access to a pool of instances, so I can play up to four pops at once. Once a sound completes, I call seekTo(0) and return the MediaPlayer instance to my pool.
Here is a rough sketch of the code:

I can't get my Droid to play anything but the stock sounds for notifications. If I try a custom sound I get this crappy digital phone ring sound. I have made all my folders on the root of the card. I have tried rings extended but it still does the same thing. It shows the sound I want. It plays it in the selection screen but when it comes time for the phone to play it all I get is that stupid bell. I even used sounds that I know work as ringtones by copying them to the notifications folder, but still that ring is all I get.

But since yesterday, I have not heard any rings. Calls are going straight to VM. I thought it was a Google Voice thing. GV is known to have this problem in the past.) Then, I disabled my cell number from GV and calls are directed to the Verizon VM. I have not changed any settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor the last 3 months I've been turning my ringer to 'medium' (1/2 the bar) before bed and turning off my notifications for yahoo and sync so my gmail alerts won't wake me in the middle of the night. Then my alarm will go off as normal in the morning and I have to turn back on my yahoo notification sound and click the sync button to get my gmail messages.Just now my better half informed me that on his Dinc you can have it on silent or vibrate modes and the alarm still goes off as normal. I tested it on mine and it was the same. Okay, I'm half annoyed because I've been taking all these extra steps to silence my phone before bed and half annoyed because what's the point of having silent mode if the alarm is accidentally set during a meeting or a movie and it will go off? I'm also 1/2 pleased (yes, too many halves) that I now can just avoid unnecessary actions with my phone before bed every single night. My old LG Voyager had an "alarm only" setting (in addition to vibrate/silent /ringer) which makes more sense to me than "vibrate with alarm ring" or "silent with alarm ring". If my Voyager was set to vibrate and the alarm went off, it would just repeatedly vibrate. I am somewhat worried (always paranoid) that this is some kind of glitch and I'll have it set to vibrate overnight and one morning instead of ringing for my alarm it'll just vibrate over and over and I won't wake up. Being late to work is one of my biggest fears Is this the norm with other Dincs? I tried searching but there are so many alarm threads and questions and I am too tired to keep looking.
View 1 Replies View RelatedGot my Incredible last Wednesday.It has been great.It does not seem to have any of the issues others have been having until last night.It started having problems with the ringtone.When some one calls it will ring but only for a second than it goes silent.I can still answer the call but I know I will miss calls this way.Also sometimes it is hard to open it up from the lock screen to answer call when this happens.Anyone else have this issue.I already did a battery pull and called *228 for a prl update.Still having issue. Of course when I took it to the Verizon store it did not do it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSO i pushed the volume rocker down all the way to silent on the sprint hero for my weekly office meeting, thinking that the phone was completely muted, and then I opened up gang wars on the phone and it started BLARING rap music on full volume through the speakers!!! WHAT IS WITH THIS??? Would the stupid phone know to mute everything? Or did I do somethign wrong and not doing this properly? My old treo had a volume kill switch on the top of the phone and NO sounds would work. Is there any way to quickly MUTE all sounds without having to also go to settings sounds media and scrolling it down to zero?? also, even when i set the media volume down, a lot of times an app causes it to be set to high again. WHATS WITH THIS?

Not always from the same caller and not any common apps running that I can think of. The callers have told me they heard 5 or 6 rings and then got voice mail. I checked their phone entries and straight to voice mail is not checked. I had two of them call me right back and the phone rang. I am not using Google voice. It maybe too early to call it a problem but thought I would post to see if any others have had this happen.

My ringer for my phone works and I made sure the notification, ringer and media volumes are all set to high. The speaker is working because when I hit the volume rocker it makes a beep. I feel silly asking for this but it just stopped ringing and I don't know how to get it back.

My previous phone, enV touch, still played some sound when u press clear to activate voice commands, even in vibration mode. (the voice that says, "please say a command. Beep") Anyways I don't want to accidentally press something or get a notification that makes a sound. All I want to know is if there's any hidden features that could play unwanted sound, even if the phone is in vibrate. I go to school and my phone will get taken away if a teacher hears it so this is important.

But I was recently having some GMail syncing issues and during the troubleshooting for that I uninstalled the latest GMail update and reinstalled it. As a result, GMail is now doing audible notificatrion sounds for new email when before I only had notification in t he notification bar. I can't seem to get it turned off. I still want calendar events and texts to sound so I don't want to silence the phone but I want email and GMail to be silent (Notification icon only).

I than noticed it didn't ring when I received a call. I had my GF send me a txt and no sound with that either. When I go into setting to change my ringtone none of them play. The volume button beeps when I hit it and I other apps that play sounds are working fine.

However, when I receive a notification while I'm doing something else, or heck even if I receive it while just looking at my phone, I want to be able to hit a button and make the noise stop!
