I'd like to make my browser continue loading homepages, even when I'm not starring at the respective tab. Hardware-wise this should be entirely possible with a Quad-Core CPU.
Right now, there is no root or custom ROM on my device which I'm willing to change in favor of the above improvement.

normally I have sync turned off to prolong battery life but it also removes the capability to see the desktop bookmarks while in Android's Chrome browser. I thought the bookmarks were stored locally and then synced back when sync turned on.
To see desktop bookmarks I have to flip the sync on do my thing and then flip it back off when I'm done browsing.
It is a big gap currently IMO, especially when you see how well it works on Safari/iOS.

I followed the tutorial for this on the dev guide and ran into a problem. The tutorial only used three tabs, but I have a need for more. As such, the tabs resize and bunch up. I was hoping someone could tell me how I can make them scroll, like in dolphin browser when using multiple tabs.

i have a problem with this new kitkat os. Before kitkat i could change between tabs by swiping left to right ir right to left to change tabs.Now it doesn't change.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk, I have had a Motorola Droid since they released the phone and my battery has been great. I could charge it overnight and take it off the charger around 6:30 am and when I put it back on the charger around 9 - 10 pm at night I would still have anywhere from 50% to higher battery life and this is after very heavy usage.
Beginning a few days ago I noticed that my Droid battery indicator is showing almost completely drained out by 6 pm and I really used my phone lightly yesterday and today. Today and yesterday both, the red LED was blinking and the battery indicator was showing almost completely dead by 6 pm. I pulled up the battery usage on the phone and it is showing the 'browser' as the biggest battery hog for some reason. Today it was showing 81% of the battery usage was from the browser. I hardly, if at all, used the browser today. I also checked the firmware version and it is showing 2.0.1, which I never updated it myself.
Are there any suggestions about why the browser would be draining the battery down so bad, when the browser has not even been used? Is there a way to close out the browser so it doesn't continue sucking the battery dry, besides using an app killer program?I did search the forum and did not see a specific question/answer to my question. I know I had read that some people were seeing battery issues after upgrading to 2.0.1, but I did not upgrade my phone, it must have done it.
Noticing that since the latest Chrome updates you open a web page and all you get is a blank page? I have been having this happen a lot lately since the last update(s) Also it doesn't seem to matter which brand phone, it's happening on HTC One, LG Optimus GPro, and Sony Xperia Z1.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm not getting any notifications (eg. email, facebook, whatsapp, ... ) unless the app is currently active. I opened whatsapp and immediately got the notification for a five hour old message.
This applies to other apps as well.
Is there any way I can make the notifications pop up even if the app is not running?

I heard that, on Android, windows must be "flattened" before they can be rendered. This, "requires both CPU & GPU usage, not to mention that it's an incredibly expensive operation. To make it worse, this operation takes place on the main thread, meaning that you will experience lag. Now I must admit this happens less on smaller screens (I have a large screen), and it also happens less on apps where the developers have optimized their scrolling to the max. This is definitely not something easy to do."

Therefore I have to use exchange active sync to sync my work calendar whilst I am at work.
To access emails outside of work with have a email route setup and a external email host.
The short is I have to add 2 accounts under the same email address. One which will connect to the work network locally over wifi and the other that will just allow me to view work emails externally.
This has worked fine previously but since my phone has been updated to 4.4 kitkat when adding the second account it pops up with a error message about duplicate accounts.
How can i bypass this message and add the second account?
Does anyone know if there is a way to increase the maximum number of tabs you can have open at once in Dolphin Browser, or possible another tabbed browser with a higher limit?
My EVO runs great with tons of free RAM when I have 8 tabs open in Dolphin Browser. I would like to have the ability to open several more.
First off let me say that of all browsers I've tried so far. This is by far my favorite. Except one really annoying thing which keeps me from using it. There are tabs that come out if you sidescroll preventing me from sidescrolling the page also preventing me from selecting text. Anyone know how to disable or work around this?

I'm writing wondering why if this is a Google phone why doesn't Google and htc implement Google chrome web browser in the phone i mean come on there's opera mini browser in there. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have motorola defy running CM10, and I can sync chrome bookmarks using chrome for android. But the app is a bit laggy on defy, so I am using stock android browser and here is a method to sync bookmark between chrome browsers and android browser:

Is there another menu that can be accessed in the newly released chrome browser where things like default zoom or user agent can be set? I have tried lots of about:* things and chrome://flags and such to no avail.

I click a video from say, 9news.com. The video plays in landscape mode with the PLAY button and slider for video time progress.
BUT, when the play button and slider disappears, so does the video. There is sound, but no video.

Is it still not possible to sync bookmarks from google chrome (pc) browser and another browser on the htc ?
I know it is possible to sync opera desktop version with mobile version but it does not open a few pages correctly on some of the sites i use and i am not too keen on the pc version of opera, its trying to do too much.
Surely i would have thought googles own browser should be able to sync with google mobile browser.
I just got a new AT&T Radiant (aka ZTE Z740). I had it for a few days while I waited for a SIM card to come in the mail, installed one app, and just got a feel for how it worked on wifi. (I've never had an Android or any smart phone before). Last night after activating the phone and setting up the data connection with Consumer Cellular, I noticed that the Chrome browser icon was missing from the app tray. I don't know exactly when that happened, but it was possibly related to the data setup process.
I've searched Google and the forums here and haven't come up with a solution. I've seen suggestions for unhiding icons, but I don't seem to have the option to hide/unhide icons, or at least I'm not finding it (if I hit the menu button from the app drawer, I just get 'manage apps' and 'system settings').
I also a suggestion to look at the disabled apps list, but the 'manage apps' function doesn't indicate that Chrome is disabled. It is still there - I don't think it can be uninstalled.
I'm not sure what else to do. Is factory reset the next step? Not looking forward to setting up the data connection again (I guess I would need to go through all the settings and write them down, unless there is a way to back them up).
I use the Volume Rocker scroll function in the labs settings of Dolphin Browser. Is there a way to get this in Chrome?

The best feature of ICS? Google is going to make the Chrome Browser the standard browser on Ice Cream Sandwich. It's going to have a different interface obviously but it's going to be indistinguishable from the desktop browser as a user agent.

Is it possible to get more than one popup window in the browser?Popups are accepted in settings.We are using a website in my work that redirect first to one popup (and thats ok) but from there it redirect to another popup and its here the phone blocks the popup with the message tah one popup are allready open.Before 2.2 the first site open as a new site and not as an popup and the second as a popup and that was ok.I have tryed original browser, opera and Dolphin with the same result.
