Android :: Quick Change Input Language
Jun 29, 2009I always configure the UI of my mobile phones with english. But I write sms in French, German, English & Spanish. Android does not seem to offer the possibility to quickly change the input language of the keyboard. It looks like UI language both determines keyboard layout and input language, which is EXTREMELY inconvenient for someone using several languages on a daily basis. Does it exist a workaround, an external app or a feature I oversaw to solve this MAJOR drawback?

Nov 11, 2010Updated my X10 abou 3days ago to Android 2.1 and ever since I can not display the Japanes keyboard. I have set location as Japanese but the standard keyboard option does not give me Japanese option for input language. I can read and browse Japanse without problem but when I create message, or simply reply e-mails /Text, I can not input any Japansese. It was working find before the update. Does anybody have a clue??

Mar 24, 2014The voice input on my HTC One keyboard stopped working. On the default keyboard, the microphone key is still there but when I tap and hold it, it doesn't do anything. I tried other keyboards like Google Keyboard and TouchPal X but they don't seem to work. Google Search is enabled and is fully functional.
This is a screenshot for the TouchPal X keyboard. The stock keyboard doesn't have any messages, it just does nothing.

Aug 10, 2010I live in Belgium, the Dutch part, and we use AZERTY keyboards here. My phone is in Dutch, but I could only choose "Dutch (The Netherlands)". In the Netherlands they speak dutch but use QUERTY. So, what I did was leave my phone in "Dutch (The Netherlands)", but I am using the French AZERTY keyboard.
The problem is, that the autocorrect now is also in French. When i typ a word the autocorrect shows a dutch suggestion, a french sugestion and an english suggestion. By default (pressing the spacebar) the phone chooses the French suggestion. Is there anyway to have an AZERTY keyboard and have the Dutch suggestion by default?

Lost Swedish as input language. (But English and Chinese still present.)
I choose add input language. It says tap to download (Swedish). The download progress bar appears but never starts to fill. Wait long. Finally it says "download failed".

Feb 26, 2012I was wondering if there was a way to add Japanese as an language input for the Android keyboard? By default, there is no option to add Japanese as a llanguage input, and all other keyboards that have it are either ugly, don't have ICS as an optional theme or just too much, I prefer the stock Android keyboard on ICS over anything else and I'm sure there are some of you that agree. It would be nice to have this and other possible languages as optional languages on this keyboard.

Oct 8, 2010i have a problem changing different input language. If i change from default English to Lithuanian, no Lithuanian symbols appear, everything stays as it was still in English. I tried changing to Russian, to see if it is just a bug with Lithuanian input, - Russian works fine. Perhaps there are some shortcuts for typing Lihuanian symbols that i don't know?

Jan 23, 2014I'm using a Galaxy Note 2 GT-N7105
I used to use the Samsung Keyboard with English and the Chinese language input (downloaded in it's language settings).
But after a hard rest (My phone had recently updated itself to 4.3 with no change) I no longer have Chinese as a downloadable language.
WHY is this so annoying... Becuase if I use another keyboard that has chinese I can't swap between it and the Samsung Keyboard in Keyboard. The Samsung has to be selects in the phone setting and can't be selected as one of many keyboards.
The reason why I wish to use the Samsung keyboard is becuase of its great swipe input function. I have not found another keyboard that has swipe in English and Chinese input funtionality.
Which means I can never using any combo of keyboards swap easily from chinese to swipe english keyboard.
I think It has something to do with the locale version of the 4.3 android os. I heard that different locales have different downloadable language options. But why has mine sudenly changed!
KitKat 4.4 :: No Voice Input Button On Keyboard

I've had a look in the options screen, there's an option where you can enable / disable the voice input button on keyboard, but it's already enabled. I can press and hold the space bar and select Google voice input in the popup menu, but it's too inconvenient. I tried installing another keyboard (Hacker's keyboard), there I have the mic button.

But i do care about the region they are set in... means when i start MIUI News/Weather (geniewidget.apk) I want to see News from Germany and temperature in Celsius..
When I play "who-becomes-rich" I want Euro for currency! and so on ...

Mar 4, 2014I have lg su760 the Korean version and I wanted to install a rom which has working Arabic language.i followed the guides but I couldn't get the omap drivers to work because I don't have the lg original usb cable,but mine works well with adb.i rooted it using super click and installed cwm.when I installed the rom ,it didn't boot again but got stuck at the lg logo.,then I found out that I had to flash xloader and boot.img.now I can boot to cwm but cannot mount usb and it doesn't read sd cardsas it gives me an error.

I haven't put a sim card in it yet as I'm waiting for my old plan to live out its contract, but I couldn't resist having a play with the Desire in the mean time Because I bought it from overseas I can only seem to set my default language as English and then in brackets many Asian country options, eg English (Thailand) and English (Singapore). This would be fine except it is becoming frustrating when typing because all of the predictive text etc has many Asian characters in it and I'm struggling to write accurately.I've tried turning off predictive text and 'check invalid sequence', but it doesnt seem to work? I also tried downloading the application 'more locale 2' which had english (australian) but it doesnt seem to affect the keyboard. Does anyone have any advice regarding how to change the initial language setting? Is there any chance that when I put an Australian sim card into it the language options will change?
