I can't understand why there is not an official Google Version. Why is it Apple with iOS 7 ships their phones with this option.
Yet it seems with an Android phone their is no official Google Support for Traditional Chinese Handwriting Input.

The version I have seen handles English and Chinese characters transparently without needing to switch input methods. Does anyone know if this is downloadable as an app, or what this is?

I used to use the Samsung Keyboard with English and the Chinese language input (downloaded in it's language settings).
But after a hard rest (My phone had recently updated itself to 4.3 with no change) I no longer have Chinese as a downloadable language.
WHY is this so annoying... Becuase if I use another keyboard that has chinese I can't swap between it and the Samsung Keyboard in Keyboard. The Samsung has to be selects in the phone setting and can't be selected as one of many keyboards.
The reason why I wish to use the Samsung keyboard is becuase of its great swipe input function. I have not found another keyboard that has swipe in English and Chinese input funtionality.
Which means I can never using any combo of keyboards swap easily from chinese to swipe english keyboard.
I think It has something to do with the locale version of the 4.3 android os. I heard that different locales have different downloadable language options. But why has mine sudenly changed!
my X10 mini only has Chinese input method for text. Where can I get English language or any other solutions to that?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have enjoyed my nexus 7 2103, on 4.4.2, for a few weeks now. I got adblockplus to clean up my browsing. My office wifi wasn't letting me ssh tunnel to my home server, so I set up hotspot vpn shield, but it limits usage in the free version. So I grabbed connectbot and proxydroid to get in, root using wugfresh to make those work properly. Got what I needed from the home server, shut it down, and headed for home.
So I got home, and Chrome now says Unable to connect to proxy server. So I made sure connectbot and proxyserver were not connected, and deleted the profiles I'd set up. No luck. Deleted the apps. No luck. Deleted the apps, no luck. Turned off ad block plus and deleted that, no luck. Cleared out hotspot vpn shield, deleted, nothing.
So I tried factory reset, no luck. Then I read that some people have had luck reinstalling those apps that changed proxy settings, which hasn't worked for me yet. I've tried restoring the backup I made preroot, no luck.
What can I do to get my nexus back online? I finally found the proxy settings under kitkat (totally different than older versions, you press and hold the network name, NOT intuitive). I'm back online, and will tell my self I'll be more careful in the future. But I won't be.
I recently bought a Nexus 7 Flo tablet running the latest Android 4.4. I've since been trying to spoof a MAC address on it, but for some reason the wireless card seems to refuse to use the spoofed mac no matter what I do.
There's a more detailed discussion what I've tried in android.stackexchange.com/questions/57922/wifi-network-not-accessible-with-modified-mac-address (forum won't let me link), but I'll repeat the main points here. I have tried both ip link set wlan0 address XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX and busybox ifconfig wlan0 hw ether XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX. They both result in the MAC address being changed as far as I can tell from the output of ip link and busybox ifconfig, but when connecting to a network with MAC filtering with the spoofed MAC address being allowed, the device fails to connect. /sys/class/net/wlan0/address also shows the spoofed address. If I use the device's stock MAC and add this to the filter on the AP, then the device connects successfully.
I'm on the Nexu5 and was wondering whether or not the permissions manager was reachable through Kit Kat? I've tried the usual permission manager / App Ops stuff from the Play Store and nothing seems to work. Is there a way to access it or did they take it back away with Kit Kat?

The voice input on my HTC One keyboard stopped working. On the default keyboard, the microphone key is still there but when I tap and hold it, it doesn't do anything. I tried other keyboards like Google Keyboard and TouchPal X but they don't seem to work. Google Search is enabled and is fully functional.
This is a screenshot for the TouchPal X keyboard. The stock keyboard doesn't have any messages, it just does nothing.
Last day I have tried to root my Nexus 4, unlock boot-loader successfully but after that i was unable to root, some RND i have found that no file/images etc. are are not copying in Nexus Device, it seems to me that may be write permission is blocked in the storage!!! only i can copy files from Nexus to PC/other but not to Nexus Device.

No driver available (or at least nothing works). I need to roll it back to jelly bean, then I should be able to get the correct driver and root it. I found that with a stylus i can write much faster and with less mistakes.

How come there is no voice input / microphone button on my android keyboard? I've had a look in the options screen, there's an option where you can enable / disable the voice input button on keyboard, but it's already enabled. I can press and hold the space bar and select Google voice input in the popup menu, but it's too inconvenient. I tried installing another keyboard (Hacker's keyboard), there I have the mic button.

View -1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get a friends Nexus 7 up and running. I recently rooted it and installed the custom recovery using my Mac with this guide while the tablet was on 4.3. All was well, but then my friend was given the option to install the 4.4 Kitkat update. After the update, the tablet has been unable to boot - it simply hangs at the startup animation. I am able to enter the recovery boot loader, and enter options to restore from a .zip, however I have no way of accessing the tablet's memory from my computer to put the original operating system back on it- although I think it could be done from Terminal, I am not well versed in command prompts.

The catch is that I write in BLOCK CAPITALS, and I would like the phone to automagically convert this input into lowercase (or ideally sentence case). I've tried googling around for an app or setting to do this, but all I could find was guidance for app developers on case conversion.

My Nexus 4 was just upgraded to the android Kit Kat version via OTA. However, I am having problems with the stock messaging app. No matter what app I choose as the default messaging app Textra or ChompSMS, the pop-up notification for the stock messaging app always shows up, despite the fact that I have already turned the notification off on the stock messaging app. This means I am getting two pop-ups each time I get a text message.

View 8 Replies View Related I'm suddenly having trouble opening up audio attachments/files. Running a Nexus 4 - OS 4.4.2. I get my work voicemail as e-mail attachments in .wav format. Up until today I was able to just tap on the attachment, and it would download and start playing. Now it says "No app can open this attachment for viewing". If I go into the Downloads and try to open it up, it says, "Can't open file". Same if I try and open up a mp3 that's in Downloads. However, opening a PDF or Excel file from Downloads or straight from email works just fine. If I go into the music player I can open up the .wav and .mp3 files from Downloads just fine.
I tried restarting a few times, and also tried clearing the app cache with no luck. What should I try next?
