, you can swipe either from the top or the bottom to reveal the status- and navbar in Immersive Mode. Now would it be possible (preferably with Xposed) to disable one of these gestures? For example, you don't want to accidentally.

Is there any real benefit for pushing apps to the system/apps in terms of speed/stability?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy current mobile phone is an LG/Sprint Optimus S, whose camera has 3.2 mpx resolution. My previous (and first) smart phone was an HTC Pure which runs Windows Mobile 6.5 and is perhaps better known as the Topaz, Pure being its AT&T edition. The camera on that phone does 5.0 mpx, so it's obviously much better. Even on just the small device screens, you can see the quality difference at a glance.
For a particular objective, I need to be able to take good pictures on the go, but have the Internet connection provided by my current Android device. In other words, I want to take pictures with the HTC, beam them to my Optimus, and then use that to send out the pictures. I was having a bit of trouble getting the devices to work well together in their native states, so I flashed a version of Froyo onto the old HTC. Having done that, I found that the Bluetooth connection between the devices worked quite well. But when I try to use one of the Android camera apps to take pictures on the HTC, it's not taking full advantage of the lens' capability. The photos show up on the screen about the size of a large postage stamp; in fact not much bigger than a thumbnail picture.
Do Android camera apps not work at any better resolution than 3.2?
in iOS, I can set a DND mode for a specific time automatically so the phone will not ring or alert me during that specified time. This is particularly useful for a recurring event (meeting or sleeping time).
Is there a way to do that in 4.4.2 without downloading a new app in Google Play? It would be nice to be able to do that automatically so i do not have to silent the phone every single time for that recurring event.
Any app that can quickly switching between location modes? I often need the High Accuracy mode for navigation, but would rather be able to quickly go back to Battery Saving any other time. A widget switch would be very useful.

How and why has Chrome out of all the browsers not been updated with this?
I've encountered a very strange problem for programmatically turning on/off the airplane mode.I'm aware that it's one of the secure settings, and my app is a system app that is correctly signed.
However, I'm not able to correctly turn on/off the airplane mode.I have the following codes: (checked value is from onCheckedChanged callback of a check box UI)
int isAirplaneModeOn = checked ? 1 : 0;
Settings.Global.putInt(mContext.getContentResolver(), Settings.Global.AIRPLANE_MODE_ON, isAirplaneModeOn);
Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_AIRPLANE_MODE_CHANGED);
intent.putExtra("state", checked);
mContext.sendBroadcast(intent);
The line where it calls Settings.Global.putInt(....) works, because we can see that the airplane mode's check box in the android's settings app will changes as we change this value from our app, so we know that our app is indeed a system app. Otherwise, it will throw a SecurityException at this line.
However, we're getting "Permission Denial: not allowed to send broadcast android.intent.action.AIRPLANE_MODE", at the line where it calls mContext.sendBroadcast(...). I have no idea why this fails while Settings.Global.putInt works.
One last note is that we're using Android 4.4.2 (KitKat).
It is a big gap currently IMO, especially when you see how well it works on Safari/iOS.

I've searched how to disable immersive mode in KitKat, and found nothing but topics on how to enable immersive mode.
In some games, immersive mode is annoying, since you'll swipe an area of the game interface near the immersed status bar, and the status bar will appear while gaming.
Is there an app, mod, or setting that can disable immersive mode?
Just upgraded to Kitkat. Now when I come out of airplane mode there is no way to enter my Sim pin code. The only solution I've found is to reboot it.
Before kitkat I'd have to select an app like tasker or data manager before it'd ask for the pin. This no longer happens though. HTC One
I went through all the settings and could not find a way to configure the phone to speak the SMS, the caller id, etc....when I am driving.
On my other phone, a samsung galaxy s3 from verizon with android 4.3, there is a "driving mode". I thought it was a true android capability, but could it be a samsung feature instead ?In any case how do I get the Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 to do the same ? can I get it to do it using an NFC tag...
Since I updated I can't hide apps in the all apps view. How to do this?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the app FVD and was asked if I wanted to hide this app in the app drawer. I clicked yes and now cannot access the app. I see it under settings/app/downloaded/ or all, but can't launch it. How do access it after its hidden? I have read threads on this subject but it seems like it does not apply to my phone seeing how I do not have a menu key to click once in the apps drawer.

I'd like to try disabling apps without uninstalling them for the purpose of trouble-shooting wake-ups.
Before I updated my Galaxy S4 I had the option to hide apps. I hided a lot of apps that I didn't used like for example: internet, story album, TripAdvisor, S Planner etc.
Now I want to see my apps. I couldn't find them. I did some research and they told me to do this: apps, menu, uninstall/disable apps. It worked for me for some apps but not for all of them. I couldn't get for example S Planner, Internet etc. back. How can I get ALL of my (hidden) apps back?
I've created a folder inside the All Apps page and can't delete it now...
The option to hide programs is gone in kitkat...
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 running 4.4.2 KitKat. I tried to set the default image, video and documents directories to a folder on the SD card by going to MyFiles -> Settings -> SDCard path. I am taking photos & videos using the default app, not a 3rd party app. Although it is showing me the default is set to the SD card, the images I take using the default camera app all seem to save to the default internal storage /storage/emulated/0/DCIM/Camera.
getting the default image directories to be on the SD card?
I recently swapped my iPhone 3GS for a Moto G and immediately upgraded it to KitKat. Since then I've been facing a variety of problems. Firstly, my camera would intermittently stop working and give the 'Camera Error' message. This was subsequently fixed by Moto when they released an update.
But another problem has been everpresent right from the start. Over my home WiFi, a number of apps requiring Google Sign in fail to work! These are :
1. Play Store
2. Facebook
3. YouTube
4. Google Search (Bing search works just fine!)
These work just fine when i switch off my WiFi and turn to 3G.
I have done a lot of research and tried a number of supposed fixes that worked for other people. They include :
1. Checking the Date & Time on my device
2. Switching to Airplane mode and back
3. Deleting my Google Account & Signing in again
4. Clearing cache, force stop etc
None of these seem to work. But at times, all of a sudden they start working. But it's completely random cause if I try the next day or something, they revert back to their non-functional state.
My WiFi at home runs on Google DNS servers. I can access these websites through my laptop.
