I have a nexus 4 running android 4.3. On my gmail app none of the times or dates are highlighted so that I can add the event to my calendar. In contrast, when I log into my gmail on my PC I am able to use that function.

I am running jellybean 4.2.2 and i used stock calendar and google calendar and they wont alarm when i make any appointment.. and there is no notification of the event. i also tried to use many calendar app from playstore but they also wont alarm...
I tried to use calendar snooze and it alarm any event i used but i want to use only my calendar and no 3rd party app.
I am an experienced developer, but an Android newbie. I have a Droid Eris (Android 1.5), and the awkwardness of adding events to a calendar is driving me nuts. I already made a feature request, but wonder whether (a) newer versions of Android already have something like this OR (b) if I could get some implementation advice on the following idea. In particular, I wonder if there is a hook available for me to receive the necessary trigger when the user selects a time from the Calendar Day View, as described below, along with the necessary parameters (day and time that the user requested).
Alternatively, perhaps the Calendar source code is available, and I should modify that.
When adding an event (in Android 1.5) from the Day View, we currently get the full event-add dialog, say for Thursday at 4pm. An additional simple interface would make it much easier to add events to calendars, as described below.
Assume that the event is being added to the default calendar (e.g., your Google Calendar).
The first line in the screen contains 5 buttons for times in 30-minute increments around the initial time. E.g., in the 4pm example the buttons read: 3:30, 3:45, 4:00 (highlighted), 4:15 and 4:30.
The second line shows an event-duration. There are only four choices (0, 30min, 60min, all day).
Below that is the event description.
Below that is a popup menu for reminders (same as on the current event add-screen).
Below that are the opportunities to Save&Cancel.
Note that event location and event description are omitted.
If there's room above, there could be a button to take you to the full- blown event entry dialog.

She was trying to email a couple of her calendar events to her husband. In a calendar event, if you hit menu, then share vCalendar, you get the options of Bluetooth, Mail, or Message. The problem is that the Mail option is only the Mail app and not the Gmail app. Other than going into the event and adding the email address under Guests, is she (and anyone else that would want to do this) SOL?
I mentioned just sharing the entire calendar via google calendar cloud service, but he doesn't have a smartphone and that's not how she wants to share it.
i have all my contacts and calendar in my google account. I added a birthday to one of my contacts (on the web version of my contacts google.com/contacts) and it shows up as expected in the web version of the calendar google.com/calendar (see screenshot).
However, when i view my calendar on the nexus 4 (stock calendar app), the new entry fails to show up, even though all calendars are fully synced etc (see screenshot).
I have checked the contact details on both google.com/contacts and on the phone and the added birthday shows up correctly, it's just doesn't seem to want to appear on the phone version of the calendar. I have checked that all calendars are synced on the phone (see screenshot)
I have tried clearing the app data and cache for the calendar app - no change.
I can't set up my gmail and u can't even use play store without it. Each time I try to to sign in via add account it says "cant establish a reliable connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your android device may not be provisioned for data services" meanwhile I have data service and my network is pretty fast.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have setup up two Gmail accounts and a couple of other email accounts on my Note 3 (4.3) but only the first Google account shows up in the email app. Both show up in the Gmail app but I prefer to have everything working in email so I can monitor all my email (hotmail, Exchange, yahoo too) in the combined inbox. Do I need to add the email account for the second Google account manually as an email account? That seems stupid and everything else is working for both Google accounts and both have email sync enabled.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThe last 3 versions of Android had the ability to set Reminders to NOW when creating events in the calendar. Now it appears that there is no such option and the closest to NOW is 15 minutes before. This can really be a major upheaval in people's lives, although it may seem trivial at first. Those that really need to do this quickly I think know this.
There seems to be no option to delete pictures, at least the way it's been in the last few versions of android.
Finally got the note 3 from Telus and loved the big screen + battery capacity!!(Ditched the iPhone 4 for note and it was a perfect choice!)
However, since I am completely a noob in android, how do I sync note, reminder and calendar with Google?
I like the stock ICS/JB scrollable calendar widget but it's not very useful since it only shows events 7 days out. I know there are a ton of third-party calendar widgets out there but most don't look very good or don't show event colors, etc. What I'd like is an exact clone of the stock widget but with the simple modification of showing 30 or 60 days out.

There is a MAX_DAYS variable which is set to 7 which is then used to set a SEARCH_DURATION variable. I'm not certain but this may be used in fetching events.
I am familiar with the SDK and creating apps but have never created a widget. I'm not sure if this code can be taken to make a widget with the desired modification.
This is a picture of my Gmail account on my phone. It doesn't show me anything about contacts, mail, calendar etc.
I made an account on my wife's phone and everything shows up. I made an account for my wife on my phone and it shows no syncs available. So I know it's not an account problem, rather a software problem?

I forgot to copy calendar entries before a factory reset, However, I did copy the complete sdcard0 to a folder on the extSdCard.how to extrapolate my calendar entries from the OS folders? Where does Android keep calendar entries? I checked my Google and Outlook calendars and all my didn't sync.

I can sign in OK from my windows-based PC and netbook - but from Android, the email/password are not recognised.
To get going I created a gmail account which enables me to sign in to my new android device: but obviously that doesn't give me access to all my google-related "stuff" that is in my xyz@myisp.com google account.

I REMOVED THE GMAIL ACCOUNT PERMANENTLY from my laptop hoping that now it wouldn't even show up on my phone. But it's still there. I just don't want to see it there. What do I do?
I like the notifications of my emails, but not the fact that it shows the email body and subject. Is there a way to only show that there is a new email but not what or who? I have an app locking gmail to keep emails secure but people can still read them from notification tab.

When I open the Gmail app to either check my email, or read an email that I received an alert for it takes forever to load the email in the app. It also sometimes takes awhile to load the list, the problems with network connection with it being very fast and loads web pages including Mail.google.com fast.
I'm looking for a tutorial to Root and then revert back to JellyBean from KitKat on a Nexus 7 2013 2nd Gen, non carrier, WiFi only, or Whatever is required to switch back to JB from KK..

I select the page where all the apps are...select xbmc app...sometimes it flicks back to main apps page other times the screen turns black/blank. I can't get further than this page....my box has worked perfectly for the past 3 months since purchasing. I can't get into the settings page as I can't get past the blank .

As a result, GMail is now doing audible notificatrion sounds for new email when before I only had notification in t he notification bar. I can't seem to get it turned off. I still want calendar events and texts to sound so I don't want to silence the phone but I want email and GMail to be silent (Notification icon only).

Have successfully imported my old calendar to Google Calendar which initially synced with the calendar on my captivate. However, when I add a new event to my phone calendar, it does not automatically show up on the Google calendar. the Samsung rep told me I have to edit each new even to mark it as a "Google Calendar". Is there any way to make this the default option on the Captivate phone? I am hoping to have automatic syncronization b/t the phone and the Google calendar without having to force it to do so each time.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to add a 2nd gmail account through the gmail app. it goes through the entire process, goes to the sync page and allows me to select what i wish to sync up then gives me a confirmation that the account has been added but when i go to the gmail app and check accounts it still only lists the 1 original account. i've tried powering the phone off and restarting - also added the account via HTC email app and deleted the 2nd account via HTC email app just in case it was conflicting there
